“My beloved is mine and I am his,”
This quote completely describes this whole book! If you have been reading the Hoops novels you know the build up for Kenan and Lotus has been excruciating. Kennedy Ryan delivers! Never one to shy away from tough but true to todays topics, she delivers her message with grace and heart stopping words. The story of Kenan and Lotus wraps around your soul like smoke from a fire and lights you up from the inside out. Kennedy’s talent with words is clearly found on each page of this story that will make you want to reread it as soon as you finish to make sure you didn’t miss a word. Kenan and Lotus will forever live in my heart with their story of love, friendship, and family.
Loved loved loved!
Ever since Kennedy announced she was doing a book with Lotus and Kenan I was excited and waiting for them. And now here it is and it’s everything.
Hook Shot is everything you love about a romance book. A kickass heroine, a hero who is damaged, family issues. Oh don’t forget the steamy parts, the funny banter between characters, and a raw backstory. What more can you want?
Kennedy’s way of pulling you into a world that she as created is amazing. I never once wanted to put this book down. I love how she always touches on a subject that many people don’t want to talk about. It brings be light to these topics while adding an phenomenal story onto of it, not many people can pull that off. But Kenny Ryan can.
These two characters are my favorite. I love their chemistry and I love they way Lotus holds her own but is also vonable. The way she comes over the past is amazing and how Kenan is there for her truly shows what a remarkable man he truly is.
Let’s be honest Kennedy Ryan can rewrite the phone book and I’ll read it. Her writing is poetic with a cadence that will have you moving in a smooth erotic rhythm to her words, yearning for more. Hook Shot took you on a slow burn of two souls who were undeniably meant to be attached to each other.
I longed for this book since I saw Kenan and Lotus’ appearance in Long Shot and it over exceeded my expectations. He was very much interested and she kept running away but boy did he catch her in this one. Lotus’ story was so real, as a reader you couldn’t help but admire the woman she was in spite of her past. She was the definition of Fierce, Strong and Independent. Even when others questioned her actions she stayed true to who she was. Kenan was not the typical baller you see in gossip mags today, his presence alone made you pay attention. From his swag, to his attitude and to his being this man was a King in every sense of the word. Just reading him as a dad made my heart melt.
Kennedy went there as she always does in tackling some real life sensitive issues that many face today. This book was therapy for the soul in the best way possible. I cried, I laughed, I swooned….every single feel was felt. Their story is one of heartbreak, guarded hearts, acceptance, triumph, finding one’s person and life changing Love. This book was EVERYTHING!
This amazingly raw, beautiful, sordid story had me taking breaths and calming myself down on multiple occasions. I cannot explain how this book made me feel. It broke me and put me back together at the same time.
Kenan was it. Just the person you want to meet, grow to love and spend the rest of your life with. How could anyone think otherwise. Lotus grew so much in this book, but in a way she truly didn’t need to. These two were made for one another. You know, the person who was created to complete you? These two were combined to make one soul. I loved how KR told this story, just like she does with all of her books, and made you think it is all real. Like you were living the lives simultaneously with them in real life.
Obviously this book is packed with people and plot-lines that make the story as it is, and some of those people make you truly question life decisions. But they also made you realize that without them, this story may be told completely different. I voluntarily reviewed this book from the author. I implore you to read it now. Don’t think about it… Just one click… Right now
This book was utter perfection! Hook Shot is full of emotion, sizzle and a breathtaking romance. It is a book I will never forget and one I will revisit often to get swept away in its magic.
Magical! ‘Hook Shot’ had made me falling inlove all over again. The sudden rush had drawn me into the stories. I am happy, utterly bliss inlove
Kenan Ross and Lotus DuPree were an epic soul. Their personalities were calm collected despite many layers of struggle. The story were complex, personal and rich with deep connection. Kennedy were brilliant with creating a story, I felt like an epic romance of fairytale with modern twist!
Lotus.. she had intrigued me with her personalities.. Sassy, sensitive, smart as hell.. yet she has the deepest sinkhole emotions.. Her struggle.. I loved the way she had overcome … her story with the sexy athlete Dad Kenan.. These two made my heart burst into laughter, tears with their struggle, overjoy with their love.
HookShot is a Must Read! This romance will sooth your tender heart. Its sexy classy… I am in awe with the pent up happy emotions. Kennedy, you got a girl to dream for love and epic ending
MY HEART. This book is a slow burn that BURNS. Badass fashion designer heroine with a single dad NBA player. There’s open communication and sexual chemistry like WHOA. I seriously couldn’t put this book down. Kennedy Ryan is an insta-buy author!

A strong, character-driven, inspirational page-turner. This book has everything!
“One kiss,” I agree, like I wasn’t about to give him the cow, the milk, and the whole damn farm.”
I know I’ve probably said this before, but this is my favorite book in the series… until the next one. I can’t get enough of Kennedy Ryan’s ballers. Nor can I get enough of her amazing female characters. She does such an excellent job of shining a light on tough subjects in a way that pulls my heartstrings and opens my eyes. She brings awareness and all the feels.
Kenan has enough to deal with in his life, the last thing he needs is to risk everything again. He’s been through hell in his marriage and in the media. Every bad thing that he wants to forget is forever available at the click of a button for anyone to see… even his daughter. He can’t turn back time or shelter her from the storm, but he wishes he could.
Lotus is my latest girl crush. I adore her sass and admire her strength. She’s trying to ignore Kenan, he’s the last thing she needs in her life. But, her body doesn’t agree. It takes notice every time he ends up in the same room with her. And, by the way, why does that keep happening? She tries to avoid him like the plague because she knows she won’t be able to resist him.
“Damn. He should never be allowed to wear white. The contrast with his skin…it’s too much. It should be outlawed. I’m already mentally drafting my letter to Congress.”
This story has everything from A-Z. Attraction. Basketball. Betrayal. Crazy. Danger. Fear. Fashion. Love. Laughter. Lust. Lies. Loss. Music. Pain. Passion. Tragedy. Zippers. I devoured this beautiful tale, loving every journey the author took me on as she weaved her web of word magic. Hook Shot has earned a spot on my #Favorites shelf, right next to the others in the Hoops series. I’m not sure if there will be more, but I met some amazing support characters that I’d love to spend more time with. The line forms here…
Absolutely kicking myself for waiting so long to dive into Hook Shot, the third and final book in the Hoops series. I adored both Long Shot and Block Shot, and Hook Shot was no different. Another 5-star read from Mrs. Kennedy Ryan, who I’m officially crowning as my favorite author.
Hook Shot is Lotus and Kenan’s story, and while I absolutely adore Iris and August… KR saved the best for last.
Hook Shot is so deeply poignant and poetic. It’s laced with culture and pure magic. The bloodline is this book is so strong that it brought me to tears. Lotus never hesitated when it came to her beliefs, even when she was doubted. That by itself was so moving for me, and it really stood out amongst the entire story. At times, Hook Shot was beyond devastating. It was gut-wrenching and soul-crushing. Kennedy’s words have a way of just wrapping around your entire heart and just squeezing… squeezing… squeezing… That’s why she’s my favorite. The chemistry in this book is so strong, my heart was racing. I couldn’t catch my breath at times. Kennedy is the ONLY author whose books does this to me.
Kennedy is a master storyteller, and Hook Shot was no different.
I loved the continuation of characters from her world. I already liked them when I met them in book one in the series and was excited to read their story.
I’m a huge fan of Mrs. Ryan. I love the way she writes her stories and how easy you can read them. Her words touch your heart in so many ways.
“Hook Shot” is the last book of the series “Hoops” and what an amazing story she gave to this book.
Kenan and Lotus were a perfect match. Two broken souls trying to find love in work, family and friends, until they find each other. Soul mates can find themselves easily.
Kenan is a wonderful man. The kindness he has is incredible. How his daughter is important and show her she is everything to him it was beautiful to read. That’s what a good parent needs to be.
He stole my heart since “Long Shot”.
Lotus conquered my heart since the beginning of the series. What a strong woman she is. After everything she passed she is always fighting for a happy place in life. I love her for that.
“Hoops” is an amazing sport series and it is one of my favorites as a reader.

: 5/5
It is another gold medal for Kennedy Ryan. WOW. There are good writers, there are great writers, and there are the writers who are just on another level entirely. Kennedy Ryan is one of them. We get to know Lotus in Long Shot (I’ve posted an review on this a while ago). Even though, both books can be read as a standalones, I would recommend you to read Long Shot first; JUST BECAUSE IT IS SOO GOOD (not because it is needed). This book is different from Long Shot, but just as good! Lotus and Kenan’s story is emotional and sweet. The characters are well developed and the story really makes you feel all the emotions. If you are ready for a heavy book hangover, definitely go read this book!

What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
The Gladiator, Kenan Ross, is minding his business when Lotus walks into his life, taking it by storm. Does he care enough to find out what the deal is about mumble rap? Can Lotus listen to vinyls? Jokes aside, this is an emotional standalone that discusses childhood abuse.
Kennedy Ryan, I needed Kenan and Lotus right about now. I connected with these two when they appeared in Long Shot. I was deeply intrigued, and I wanted to find out more. Now that I’ve read their book, I can confirm that it was everything I wanted and didn’t know I expected. Who knew Kenan was such a music buff? I loved every single moment with these two. Kennedy knows how to connect to her readers. Kenan and Lotus filled me up with happiness because their journey was so beautiful. I don’t know if it can be categorized as slow burn, but it definitely had a slower development of the sexual relationship since the characters were working through their issues. The family dynamics in Kenan’s family just tore at my heartstrings. I rooted for them all to find what they were looking for. This was an easy read for me; I wanted to hug this book so bad. Long Shot was my first Kennedy read, so it’ll always have a special place in my heart, but Hook Shot just up and stole the show. I recommend this to all the lovers of basketball romance, character growth, and emotion-packed stories that get you going.
ORIGINAL COMMENT
Loved it so much
Kennedy Ryan has made a clear path to my heart and I am officially addicted to her words. Her novels as deeply emotional, poised, and some of the most romantic reads I have ever come across. I took a chance on this series; and the author and was rewarded immediately. Her words flow so easily, her books ignite your soul so quickly, and in no time at all, you become deeply invested in her characters. It comes as no surprise to me that her novels as award winning and this is honestly deserved. I am wholly obsessed with her books. If you have yet to read a Kennedy Ryan book you are missing out. I feel like I’ve been missing out since I only started in in her stories this year but am remedying it now. I plan to plow through her books (as many as I can) this year.
Now that I’m finished gushing, I can talk about Hook Shot. This is the third (and final?) standalone in the Hoops series. These books are interconnected and while they CAN be read as standalones, I personally think you should read them in order because characters from past books do show up in future ones. I don’t want anyone to be spoiled when it comes to their romances and reading them in order will help that not to happen.
Hook Shot is Kenan and Lotus’s story. These two have met a few times through her cousin Iris (she’s the heroine of Long Shot my absolute FAVORITE of the three) and her husband, but never developed a friendship because they don’t live close to one another. Not only that, both are dealing with their own personal issues and mixing a relationship of any kind (despite their intense attraction) isn’t on their radar. But when fate intervenes and puts both in the city together, those long-burrowed feelings are awakened. Lotus doesn’t have any intention of letting a man into her heart (she has a tragic back story that cements her in a place far from intimacy) and Kenan has his own issues with his divorce and daughter. But can two people who are clearly meant for each other really stay away? You’ll find out when they navigate the waters of their past and present in this electrifying romance that will leave you breathless.
Kennedy Ryan has certainly made a fan out of me with this series and I can’t recommend it enough to romance readers everywhere. I know you’ll become addicted just like I did and while I hate to share my book boyfriends, it’s hard not to sing these books praises. I am so excited to start on the next series and see where she takes me next.
I have waited for Lotus and Kenan’s story and it was as good as expected.
It was intense and a lot of feelings with a hint of magic, I always love that.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
All the characters is well described and developed in to realistic personalities
5 stars
Emotionally charged
4.5 stars
Kennedy certainly delivered another awesome book in this emotionally charged story!
Hook shot is a slow(ish) burn , age gap , friends to lovers sports romance where their chemistry is evident and smokin from the beginning but they both have a lot of emotional healing to do before they can fully be together .
Kenan is a 36yo veteran basketball player who has survived a messy public divorce and is still trying to pull his life back together for himself and his daughter . He’s kind and thoughtful and a gentle giant . Who is struggling to trust again .
Lotus is a 25year old ‘ old soul ‘ , learning the ropes of the fashion industry under a famous designer she’s independent, strong and un afraid to be herself. Lotus has a history of childhood sexual abuse and she too is on a journey of healing and learning to trust and give herself over to love and intimacy .
This is book 3 in the hoops series which can each be read as stand alone quite easily but are tied together through wonderful world building and characters that are connected .
Kennedy has a great way with words , she draws you in and captures your attention and heart
Hook Shot was the third and final book of Kennedy’s Hoops series. In true Kennedy fashion it was full of angst, laughter and hot as sin! I was so excited to see Lotus had her own book! I fell in love with her in Long Shot, she was just as amazing as she was then. My heart dropped so many times, but just as soon, it was swooning! She sure knows how to test my emotions, she knows how to make me feel!
Kenan had been burned, his ex-wife made his divorce drag out all while trying to make connections on a new team after he was traded. The only good thing in his life was his daughter. He was trying to make this new life work for them and he didn’t’ need any distractions, especially women. But when he meets one that he can’t stop thinking about, will he break his own rules? Would she be worth the fight?
Lotus was trying to figure her life out, her demons were starting to get out of control. She needed to work on herself before she could even think about giving herself over to anyone else. But Kenan wouldn’t leave her alone…He promised her just friends, but could they both keep to that?
Wow! This was an amazing, emotional roller coaster. It was great to catch glimpses of all the other Hoops beloved characters and some from other series – like Grip!!! And Jade…swoon! I loved seeing little glimpses into their lives. I absolutely loved this entire series and can’t wait to see what she has to write next!
