School is school.
I’ll keep my head down until graduation and try not to stick out.
College will be here before I know it.
Yet my first day proves to be anything but easy.
The Hood River Hoodlums—our school’s most notorious group of bad boys—have put a target on my back.
Their leader, Roan, hates me.
He calls me Rat.
To him and his friends, I’m a loser who doesn’t belong at their school.
I could pretend I don’t care about their hate.
If only Roan wasn’t so hot.
He’s mean, cruel, and sexy as hell.
My nemesis is impossible to ignore…and a secret part of me doesn’t want to.
Here I thought being gay was the worst of my problems.
Turns out, being gay and crushing on your enemy takes the cake.
This is a full-length high school enemies-to-lovers and new adult romance with high angst, suspense, and gutting emotion. It’s book one in the Hood River Hoodlum series that will have interlinking storylines. Hood River Rat can be read as a standalone and starts off a four-book planned series that gives each Hoodlum a book. This is the only MM story. The others are MF.

Swooney, Swooney, Swooney!! I am feeling all the Swoon!! Hollis and Roan have swept me off my feet and I’m floating in their cloud.
Hood River Rat is filled with angst, emotions, heat, passion, tension, longing, and two boys from very different walks of life just trying to figure out how to survive it all.
Mid-senior year of high school, Hollis English has moved across the country with his mother and two sisters when his less than caring father discovered he was gay. The normally optimistic, happy Hollis didn’t get off the best start at his new school when he has a first run in was with the Hoodlums at school. Everyday only gets worse and his stomach is constantly in knots. If only their leader wasn’t so good looking perhaps that wouldn’t make it worse and he could hate him, but Roan is different when he’s alone. It’s confusing and Hollis isn’t normally confused when it comes to guys.
Roan Hirsch, part of the Hoodlums, doesn’t have the best home life. With a drugged out mother and a father in prison, his primary focus is on him and his sister making it out of Hood River one day alive. What he doesn’t need is a preppy kid getting in his way and messing up his life, unfortunately that is exactly what it feels like at every turn when Hollis shows up at his school. If he could ignore the new kid he would, but he’s shoved himself into every aspect of his life. At school, after school, basketball, even his dreams. He can’t seem to escape him and lately he’s not sure if he wants to and that confuses him too.
These two guys are from very different backgrounds, however they are both thrown together through some similar situations. Roan doesn’t like Hollis on principal alone. Period. On the flipside, Hollis is the type of guy who gives everyone a chance before passing judgement, so he tries to like Roan before disliking him. Neither initially have “feelings” for the other because neither are even thinking along those lines.
Roan has never been with a guy before, so he’s confused by his body’s reaction to Hollis at first. Hollis is just trying to survive school and because Roan has only been with girls he doesn’t pick up the vibe of interest. This makes for an an intense longing and angsty, burning build-up between them. When they do finally ignite…holy hotness!!
Get ready to swoon hard for Roan. Here is a guy who has never been in a relationship ever, but when he falls…dang. Hood River Rat is so intense not only for their love story, but for the other storylines too. It’s a real page turner to find out what happens to everyone.
Oh, K. Webster how I love you and your mind! I wish I could give more than 5 stars because that’s what Hood River Rat needs, all the stars! Hollis and Roan were amazing and perfect!!
Hollis English starts a new school and thinks everything will be okay when the Hood River Hoodlums zero in on him. They are mean and don’t need a reason to attack. Roan Hirsch is their leader and finds Hollis as an easy target. What Roan doesn’t see coming is Hollis himself.
When I started this book what I didn’t expect was to cry. Hollis and Roan gave me all the feels. These two will hold a spot in my heart forever. This book was so much more than a gang or even MM romance. It was raw and gritty and pure perfection! Hood River Rat made me feel so many things I wasn’t expected. This book snuck up on me in the best way.
Each character in this book was important. Not one character was in this book that didn’t have a purpose, each and every character played some part in the outcome of this book. This book would not have been everything it was without each.
I want to stand and scream for everyone to hear how much I love Hood River Rat. Webster did magical things with this story. The plot was written beautifully. Hollis and Roan have taken the top spot of K. Webster’s book. I wish I could explain why everyone needs to read this. If you love MM books or aren’t sure about them, this book is perfect for you.
Well, K Webster has grabbed hold of my heart and squeezed it so tight until it just might burst with all of the emotions felt during the reading of Hood River Rat. This enemies-to-lovers, bully romance is one that will almost gut you with the wonderful story about Hollis and Roan and their friends and family. Both of them have different but difficult situations going on with their home lives and then add in the attraction pulling them together, you just have to feel for both of them. If you think you read the entire story in the previous anthology appearance, you have not, so please go and read this absolutely wonderful story. I cannot wait for the next book.
Oh my, oh my, oh my!!!!
I will say I’m so glad I bought but haven’t yet read Bully Me. I found out the cliffhanger in it would have killed me. For those that are confused, Hood River Rat was a part of the Bully Me: Class of 2020 anthology. In Bully Me, it ended in what would have been a devastating, nerve wracking, heart palpitations inducing cliffhanger. Thankfully, I have the copy unopened 5 ft from me.
Hood River Rat is K Webster gold. I was close to tears too many times to count. These boys are in a world of hurt. They live very different lives. It’s both a tragedy and also the reason they work. Their connection is tangible. The emotions, longing, need, lust, and other “l” words are visceral. It’s bone deep.
Ahhhh! I just want to hug them, hold them, and keep them safe. I’m also wickedly intrigued by the rest of the Hoodlums. I will say that my favorite Hoodlum may be busy but when he is free he better claim what’s his!
K Webster knows my needs and hopefully she is working on them! Also can I just say Cal drunkenly cuddling me would be an acceptable way to wait for the rest of these books!
Oh and I forgot to mention while I was lost in the emotions, fighting my empathy, I really loved reading about them being tangled in the sheets! It’s K Webster, of course it’s HOTTTTTT!
Yep, Kristi did it again. She did it again! She gave us another wonderful book. Some called her the Queen of forbidden. Indeed she is.
This book is about Roan and Hollie. Enemies-to-lovers romance/MM/high school bully romance. They hated one another, but yet they can’t resist each other. Once they love, it’s all in, no looking back. Their love story is beautiful and brave. I can not wait to read about the other characters. Specifically one – Jordy. Read the book and you will find out why.
