Nice read, just nice.
Cecily de Vere , who lost her father in a fire, has been taken in by her Uncle . He has taken over her father’s estate as if it were his own. Cicely’s best friend, Alric of Hawksmere, is being trained to be a knight in the service of King Stephen.
On Alrics 19th birthday he is called away to fight in the Kings army.
When Alric returns Cicily is a beauty to behold. They find that their friendship and respect for one another turns to love. But they are unequally matched according to genteel society. They must hide their love.
Uncle decides a marriage would be a grand thing. He finds a suitor for Cecily and makes the plans unbeknownst to her. He tells Alric he is to escort his love to Lord Pierce’s castle and be the one to give her away.
The Lord Pierce and uncle have devised a plan where they both get rich and become traitors of the crown.
What I really enjoyed about this story was that there was an underlying story line that carried it along with an element of suspense and broader variety of characters than usual. While the chemistry between the hero and heroine were still typical and pretty much boiler plate (which is why I’m not giving this one five stars), there was more actual character development and plot twists and turns that made is a far more interesting read. Well done!
I loved itit keeps u instertion to the end keepthem coming love your books
Like romance
Could not put this book down. Good reader.
Awesome historical romance. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great historical romance book. The author kept the story going & I couldn’t stop reading until I finished the entire book in one day.
A lovely read! The knight Alric of Hawksmere renews his bond with a childhood friend Cecily de Vere. Lots of twist and page turners in this medieval times book.
Great read for a rainy afternoon.
A nice plot with twists
Very good book.
I liked this book even though it was a pretty typical standard Medieval love story. The plot was interesting and the writing flowed along easily. The characters were well crafted. While it wasn’t “Gone With The Wind” it is a book worth keeping and possibly reading again at a later time. 🙂
I enjoyed the story line and the characters. Would read the next in series.
Could not get past the first chapter due to boredom.
Kind of hard to follow all the twist and turns
Fast moving romance seated in the Middle Ages-the time of honorable knights and fair ladies. A chance to get away from modern reality and live in another age for a little while.
Enjoyable read.
I really enjoyed this book. It isn’t as intense with emotion as some others, yet it was very sweet and romantic. I liked the characters and their interactions.
Very enjoyable romantic read. Loved the characters. Hard to put it down.
So glad we don”t have to worry about what class system we can marry.
