Love can be as sweet as honey, or it can sting like a bee. Bo Smith knows that if you go looking for honey, you get stung, so he has his life just how he wants it. No hassles, no complications, and no heartache. As the handsome high school athletics coach, he would be the pick of the small town he grew up in… if he was into commitment, or dating…or even calling back. But he has sworn off … sworn off anything resembling a future and his mind isn’t going to change.
Then his eyes lock on the new girl in town…She’s beautiful, intelligent, and full of surprises. Just the kind of complication he has been avoiding.
Sophia Brown is looking for the sweet simple life. She has it all planned out. Getting used to life alone isn’t easy, but she has her garden, her bees, and her dog Triton to tend to. It’s the fresh start she’s been dreaming of, surrounded by nothing but open fields to stare at all day.
Nothing at all…unless you count the high school football team and their distractingly handsome coach, practicing right across the street.
When sparks fly, Bo must choose between the sting of his past or the sweetness of the future.
He may just find that honey tastes good on everything.

So adorably, sweet! 4 -dog kissed- stars!
Bo is the High School athletics coach and town playboy. He hasn’t let himself get attached to anyone, including pets, in years. So when he has to take Sophia, the new girl in town, and her dog Triton to the vet, he isn’t expecting to let this woman and her dog so far into his life that he can’t get them out.
This book is such a sweet romance. I liked Sophia and her ever present laugh. I could relate to her love of animals. The only thing that bothered me a little was her whole Suzy Homemaker routine. I almost felt like she should have been born in the 50s.
In the beginning, I thought Bo was hot. The way Sophia lusted after him, made him desirable. This crumbled slightly as the plot grew. His short fuse and snappy attacks were petty and unwarranted. His hatred of dogs was also ridiculous. I understood the background and concept of him shutting himself off from hurt, but the circumstances made him out to be childish and selfish. His sister lost a baby, yet his entire life is built around the loss of a dog. I wanted to scream, “Where are your priorities?!?!?”
Dismissing their character flaws, the storyline was good. I loved the inclusion of the dogs as major characters. I also thought Sophia and Bo had great chemistry.
It was also nice to see a woman handle her shit and not fall apart after the guy acts like a douche!
Honey Bee by Heather Shere a sweet and sugar filled five-star read. I have had this book on my TBR pile for ages, I kept thinking I wanted to read it but never getting around to it, I am now going to go buy everything from this woman. Heather Shere you are an amazing writer. This book was sweet and funny and full of witty one liners, I am a massive dog lover so the fact there were amazing dogs in this story didn’t hurt.
Bo Smith made one mistake and he hasn’t been able to forgive himself ever since, he has a good life as a high school athletics coach, he doesn’t date or do animals but that hasn’t stopped him from having plenty of female company. Some would say he’s like a strong, beautiful flower ripe for the picking, but for his fear of commitment he would be the perfect man. As the story develops so does the story of Bo, and his reasons behind why he avoids commitment and animals, he slowly unfurls and his true colours show. When a pretty little Honey Bee catches his eye, he starts to change but will it be enough.
The pretty Honey Bee in question is new to the town, her life is full of changes and this new challenge is just another thing she will face, she takes life as it comes and lets fate take its run for her. Life is simple for Sophia Brown, she has her dog King Triton and a luscious garden that is slowly being filled with the things she needs to keep her busy. Including bees to make the honey that she puts in everything to make her life a little sweeter.
Sparks will fly and hearts will flutter, but will there be a sting in the Honey Bees tale?
Honey Bee, by Heather Shere, is a super sweet contemporary romance. Bo is the cocky, handsome high school athletic director afraid of commitment or forming close relationships of any kind. Sophia is the beautiful new girl in town hoping to settle down and create a new life for herself and her dog Triton after the passing of her mother. This book is a case of opposites having instant attraction – as sparks literally fly when Bo and Sophia meet.
Heather Shere did a fabulous job of creating characters that were easy to identify with and who felt like real people. Bo has a past he really can’t seem to overcome when it comes to relationships of both the female and the furry kind. He has pushed away his sister and only ever has one night stands. Sophia is naturally friendly and affectionate. She easily sees Bo’s issues with commitment and tries not to press him for more than he is ready to give . . . but both seem to develop feelings for one another.
While things seem to be going well, Bo just can’t seem to get past his feelings about Sophia’s big furry baby, Triton . . . who simply adores Bo and attempts to get attention from Bo whenever he is present. When Triton accidentally wreaks havoc at an event, Bo lashes out, hurting Sophia in a way she can’t move past . . . not that Bo is even asking for forgiveness. As both try to move on with their lives, fate and Triton, bring Sophia and Bo together again . . . will Bo be able to let his past go to see the future he could have with Sophia?
I loved the characters Heather Shere created. I could easily see where Bo’s fear of commitment came from and understand why he acted the way he did. I adored quirky Sophia and her love for all things natural, especially her bees and her extreme love for Triton . . .the only family she really has left. Ancillary characters, including Judy and Dave, Bo’s sister and brother in law, were also well developed and felt like family.
If you are looking for a feel-good book, that has lots of romance, smoking hot sex scenes, a lovable yet rambunctious dog, a high school football team and everything that comes with small town life, this is the perfect book for you!
5 stars!
Where do I start? This is an adoring, fun loving read with a somewhat hurt and troubled young man and a girl who is sticking to the plan she once made with her mother.
I went from adoring, loving and wanting Bo all to myself to loathing the ass and wanting Sophia to walk away and never look back. In the end- I was cheering them on and loving the two of them together. Two people meant for each other and all they needed was a dog name Triton and an electric start. 🙂
“You never truly lose someone you love. They are in everything around you that you love.”
This was a hard lesson for Bo to learn- 10 yrs and all it took was for a woman with a love for Honey to move into the town to turn his world upside down. Don’t get me wrong- it wasn’t overnight but, it was well worth the wait.
Sophia Brown a single female with a furbaby named Triton who moved to the small town where her parents grew up. No friends and no family; a fresh start and a plan was all she was expecting with a sweet hobby and what a start it was….
Bo Smith a single athletics coach in small town who was heartbroken when he was a kid and never got passed it.
Together will they both find something they didn’t think they needed or wanted? This story is simply amazing & sweet with characters that will pull you in from beginning to end. You won’t want it to end-
4.5 fab stars. I really enjoyed this book and it had me laughing out loud at times. I loved the story and the characters and would definitely recommend it.
A really easy read – I will read again.
