Ms. Carlisle has done another wonderful job of writing an entertaining cozy. A must read for all those who love these mysteries. An enjoyable novel!
I’ve been a fan of Kate Carlisle for several years, having read her Fixer-Upper series since its beginning. After finding myself finally current on ~25 series that I am reading, I decided to pick up a few new ones, rounding out those from authors I already enjoy. First up was Homicide in Hardcover of her Bibliophile series. A good friend has been …
Brooklyn Wainwright is an extremely skilled book restoration expert. She goes to an event for her mentor and former employer, it’s the eve of his latest restoration project and the first time she’s seen him in several months. She soon finds him in a pool of blood and he dies in her arms after giving her a cryptic message and a book that is …
It has been a while since I read this book, but I picked the series up again this week and thought I would revisit it from the beginning. Fast and fun this is a great read for any afternoon. The MC’s job is repairing books, antique or otherwise. Those parts of the story are very interesting to me. The zany parents, new heartthrob, and her bestie …
Brooklyn Wainwright is a bookbinder. She apprenticed under family friend Abraham Karatovksy, and has been working for herself for six months. Brooklyn is passionate about books, and restoring them gives her great pleasure.
Brooklyn and her best friend Robin attend a party, as Abraham is about to display his work, including a priceless copy of …
This is a good cozy mystery but also informative when she talks about restoring old books. I assumed those parts would be boring with all the “shop talk” but it was quite interesting.
I always enjoy one of Kate Carlisle’s books. They are easy to follow and the characters are interesting. The characters are so interesting one might call them eccentric. I love the book and who wouldn’t with books, a romantic note to it, mystery, suspense and wine.
The female protagonist has an odd profession, bookbinding, restoring and making …
This is a must read series!
Great Start to a series. I enjoyed the character interactions as much as Adrienne Giordana’s and Susan Boyer’s family dinner table conversations. They really make the book witty and interesting. I also like the fact that the protagonist in a book restorer. Since I know almost nothing about book restoration, the author’s inclusion of techniques …
cozy-mystery, amateur-sleuth, women-sleuths, wine
Interesting look into the world of restoration of old books, hippie communes on the west coast, viticulture and oenoculture.
Eileen Stevens does the chirpy really well.
I love this book and this series, as soon as I pick one of the books up I can’t put it down!
disappointing
When Brooklyn Wainwright is found kneeling over the dead body of her former mentor, she immediately becomes a suspect. But Brooklyn thinks it may have to do with the cursed Faust he was restoring. Can she prove her innocence? The plot had lots of events but didn’t move forward quickly. I loved the characters, however.
