Sweet, heartwarming story of love, forgiveness, and learning to move on in life. Author Merrillee Whren brings faith into the story in a way that uplifts and encourages. I enjoyed this one. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
Nathan is a confirmed bachelor and workaholic after his breakup with his now ex-girlfriend. He has thrown himself in his work at the bank and he does spend time with some of his family but they say he’s married to the bank,
Melanie lives in town with her 2 boys, Ryan and Andrew since her husband Tim passed away 2 years ago. She is trying to hold her family together but she is having a tough time with the boys. They are always fighting with each other.
She goes to the bank and meets Nathan because he is going to help her with her finances. She inherited some money from TIm’s insurance and she is now trying to wisely invest it. He talks her into letting the boys sign up for baseball.
This is a really good book and it shows how if you have your faith in God you can heal from the past hurts and move on.
Another sweet romance in Kellersburg by Merrillee Whren! Melanie, a young widow with two lively young sons, is a realistic female protagonist. Melanie is a nervous wreck when she approaches Nathan, a formal banker, for financial advice. As a relationship grows between Melanie and Nathan, Nathan struggles with revealing that he suffers from Crohn’s disease. I recommend Hometown Dad to others who enjoy contemporary fiction. I received an advance e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion
This sweet story is a beautiful Christian romance. Melanie Drake, a widow with 2 young sons, has finally moved forward to the point where she is ready to plan her financial future. Because her babysitter cancelled at the last minute, she brings the boys to her bank appointment with Nathan Keller.
Nathan, who was jilted by his former girlfriend because he has Crohn’s Disease, is attracted to Melanie and likes her boys. However, he is afraid that he will be rejected because of his illness. Nathan also is a coach for the youth baseball league and suggests that Melanie sign up her boys for the upcoming season.
Of course, this is a romance, so the reader knows that there will be a happily-ever-after ending. But there are bumps along the road. Even with the support of friends and members of Nathan’s family, both are afraid to allow friendship to bloom into a relationship. What does it take for them to become a true couple?
I loved the people of Kellersburg, Ohio and they way they support one another. I disliked Melanie’s former in-laws until they learned to accept Melanie for who she is now and not hate her for her difficult past. The young sons are a lot of fun and they play an integral role in the developing romance.
This is book three in the Kellersburg book series, but easily holds up as a standalone novel. It is the first one I’ve read, but I already own the other two and look forward to also reading them.
