I am a sucker for Holiday romances and this one was cute. Set is a quaint small town. The local girl Kat, the new Guy Ford it was meant to happen, right? Well it does, but both Kat and Ford have some baggage that they need to work through, add in the fact that Ford works with Kat’s twin and you get a couple of blocked opportunities, some sibling humor, some sexy scenes and a fun story of how they find their HEA.
Is there anything better than sitting on the deck in the middle of an August heatwave and reading a book set at the holidays??? Well of course there is, but you know what I mean.
HOMETOWN CHRISTMAS is told in dual POV and winds through the present and the past in a way that is pretty seamless. Holiday traditions, small town chatter, and close family ties wrap this story in a pretty bow.
There were times I skimmed a bit but I blame that on the heat and not on the story.
This is the story of two people who’d been through their own traumatic situations and find themselves pulled toward each other against all of the odds. Kat’s trauma took place years in the past while Ford’s is fairly recent. It was sweet how they danced around each other while trying to decide if they could go all-in with each other. And, of course, there are animals, hayrides, and Christmas peppered in along with some family tension and surprise appearances that could blow everything.
I thought the story was sweet though it dragged on a bit. There are things that aren’t completely explained and some moments that left me wanting more. I liked the tension between the brother and sister over the involvement of someone he had to work with every day, which can be a difficult situation. And I liked that the story was written in a dual POV so we knew what each of them had been through that led up to where they were now.
I was given a copy of the story for a reading group, and I think it must have been an earlier copy because the editing wasn’t complete. There were a lot of mistakes, which made it difficult to get through some of it. I couldn’t check to see if the story had been further edited after the copy I was given because the “Look Inside” chapter Amazon allows the reader to check out prior to purchase is from a completely different book. So there’s that. It was okay, an easy one day romance read.
Ford moves to a small town to become a partner with David, a colleague at a veterinarian clinic. He starts to have feelings for Kat, David’s sister. Kat hasn’t really had a relationship since college because of a traumatic incident that happened because of her boyfriend back then. But she is interested in Ford. Can these two make a go of it or will they let their pasts get in the way?

Kat is hard working and solely focused on work and this works well for her as even though everyone wanted her to look at dating again she wants nothing to do with it and fills all her time with work. After her brother David finds another veterinarian Ford to move to their little town and be his partner at the only vets things begin to change and not just with how much the town and David appreciate having another vet around! This is a beautiful slow burn where both Kat and Ford need to find themselves and deals with their pasts and in saying that I was soo proud of Kat and how she dealt with the veterinarian dinner she went to with Ford and David!!! I really hope there are more books in this series as it was such a great read.

Kat is a dog trainer who works with her father Ford is the new vet in town and her vet brothers new partner. He is still hurting from a recent divorce and doesn’t trust women she was badly hurt by a previous boyfriend and basically hasn’t dated for ten years The attraction between them is strong but can two such damaged souls find happiness together You will have to read to see
Kat works at dog training with her father. Ford is a vet, and her brother’s new partner. They have this instant attraction, but there are issues… Ford is newly divorced, has trust issues stemming from his ex, and not looking for anything. Kat was terribly hurt by her first serious boyfriend, and hasn’t dated much in the last 10 years. Plus, her brother is in the middle, making a relationship off limits. Or is it? This is a feel-good book, such a wonderful story. I love the chemistry between these two, and Ford’s patience with Kat, especially after he found out her secret. I had trouble putting this down once I started reading. I love everything that I’ve read from this author, and this book is no exception – well-written, amazing characters, small-town romance.
