Will he break a promise or break her heart?Colt Vance owes everything he is to the Martin family, which is why he’s stayed far, far away for years. But now that Fritz Martin has asked him a favor, he’s back in Last Stand facing the one temptation he can’t ever give into: his mentor’s middle daughter.Sadie Martin doesn’t like Colt Vance, or so she’s told herself for years. He’s far too charming … years. He’s far too charming and has her father wrapped around his finger. But Sadie doesn’t have a choice except to work with Colt to save her beloved goat farm.
Working together tests Colt’s resolve when it comes to his attraction to Sadie, and Sadie comes to realize she doesn’t just enjoy Colt’s company, she craves it. But Colt can’t break the promise he made to Fritz years ago. Can one tenacious farm girl convince this stubborn cowboy love is always the answer to any problem?

3 1/2 stars.
The story was enjoyable and I like Sadie and Colt but I didn’t love them. Hence the 3 1/2 star rating. The supporting cast of characters made the story more enjoyable for me. I love a good push and pull story where the H/h don’t want to be together but want to at the same time but sometimes that goes on too long. I like Nicole’s writing and enjoy her cowboys, but this one is not one of my favorites of hers.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
Years ago, Fritz Martin and his wife took in three troubled boys to raise alongside their three daughters. After his wife died, Fritz did his best to raise six children and keep the family farm going. Now the kids are grown, the farm is struggling, and Colt Vance comes back home to help the man who gave him, the son of the town drunk, the chance at a future and so much more. That means Colt will have to deal with Sadie, who handles the farm’s daily operations, and they mix about as well as oil and water. But Colt’s arrogance and Sadie’s prickliness only mask the feelings they’ve had for each other for years. As far as Colt is concerned, the feelings are irrelevant. He promised Fritz long ago he would stay away from his daughters, and Colt is sure there’s no way Sadie would want anything to do with a Vance.
If you’ve not yet met Helm’s cowboys, you’re really missing out! She creates a warm, welcoming setting, strong, unbreakable family bonds, heroes with huge hearts who are a bit vulnerable, and strong, tenacious, loving heroines. While Colt thinks he’s unworthy, he has a lot of redeeming qualities, and Helm strikes the perfect balance so his insecurities are endearing, his growth is believable, and the reader is cheering him on each step of the way. Sadie isn’t without her faults, but she’s also realistic and admirable, and I couldn’t help but love her. If you’ve enjoyed cowboys from Carolyn Brown, Maisey Yates and Sara Richardson, you’ll love this new series by Nicole Helm!

I loved that Penn was the one to kick his butt. Too often in the coward love stories the woman just lets him come back or chases after him. Begging and sacrificing your pride is no way to start a relationship. If they don’t understand that women have pride too then they don’t deserve a good woman.
Colt Vance ran away from his foster home because of his attraction to Sadie Martin, the bosses daughter. Now hes back to help bail out the Martin Goat Ranch from there financial woes. He still has the Hots for the farmers daughter and she for him.
Good cowboy comes home book
Sadie’s mom an dad with several daughters took in several boys who needed the love of a family to straighten them out. But Colt does not feel like Sadie is his sister. He has stayed way so as not to act on the attraction, but got called back to the ranch by the Dad. He and Sadie cannot ignore their feelings, but each of them must overcome their own insecurities and history to be able to commit to a life together.
Great book. I enjoyed this book very much.
While Nicole Helm’s book may drag a bit at time, overall it’s a very entertaining read with enough twists and turns in the plot to make it more than worth the wordiness. Very enjoyable.
Very good
good read
pleasure to read!
Lovely story
When two people finally get the chance to love it is wonderful. Sadie has had a crush on Colt for awhile, but he left town to I and something of himself. She stayed to help her dad with the family farm. But he is back to help them out financially. Her parents took him and his brother’s in. Will they stop fighting the attraction.
HOMECOMING FOR THE COWBOY is a standalone read with a happy ever after. It is a good love story. Set in Texas the story centers around a big family that owns and runs a goat farm that has been in the family for generations.
Fritz is the father that was left a widower with 3 young daughters and 3 older sons his wife had adopted. Fritz has had a run of bad luck and he is about to lose the farm. He calls his oldest son to help him out. Colt has been gone for over 5 years but when he gets the call he returns to help out the man he owes everything to. He has made a fortune in real estate and pays off the debts of the farm and sets out to bring it up to date. Sadie the middle daughter is the only child at home. She is a grown woman but her dad still treats her like a child. He is from the old school and he thinks it takes men to run things. Sadie has been running the farm and taking care of the animals but still her dad turns to Colt.
Colt has always loved Sadie but he promised her dad he would never lay a hand on her. He is between a rock and a hard place. He wants Sadie but he promised to never touch her. This is their story. It is not an easy road to a happy ever after but they just underestimated Sadie. it is a good read and I definitely recommend it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 7/5/2020
Enjoyed your book, I almost missed reading it, due to the generic title.
I love this book and the characters were real. The writer makes you feel like you are part of the neighborhood and they’re old friends of yours.
Homecoming for the Cowboy was a fast, easy read that I enjoyed for the most part. Colt Vance is a tortured soul, but he’s not really a cowboy so much as he broods under his stetson while occasionally milking a goat. He’s back home to help his surrogate father save his goat farm, but to do that, he’ll be faced every day with the woman he knows he can’t have, even though he wants her. He thinks anyway. Maybe? Yes. But he can’t. He promised never to look at her. That was basically the book for the first 40% from Colt’s POV. Sadie was different because she wanted Colt, but she didn’t understand why he lived to make her mad.
Why can’t Colt have her? Well, her father made him swear he’d never mess with any of his girls. Frankly, that storyline drives me to distraction for so many reasons. I hung in there, though, and I was glad I did. Ms. Helm managed to redeem Fritz and help the reader understand why he made the choices he made.
I enjoyed the happily ever after and the promise of more love to be found for Sadie and Colt’s family.
Loved it! Can’t wait to read the next story in this series!
really loved this book. would read more books of hers,
A quick summer read for mindless reading. I do not feel there was hardly any story or character development by the author.
It was a great story
