Ia delightful and enchanting story. A bit more sad then I like. Which had me debating on how many stars to give. But it is well written and sweet. A very wholesome story.
Characters did not rush into love in weeks. It was much longer for the feelings to brew.
Sheryl has good reason to avoid relationships in general and with men specifically. She sees Mark is different. His entire family is different that what she grew up with. He scares her… He can sneak in through the defenses she’s built up to protect herself.
Mark is fascinated with Sheryl. Yeah, he heard all the bad stuff from her stepbrother, but he likes to make up his own mind. He sees so many parts to her. She’s definitely guarded, but she comes alive at times and… she’d fit right in his life… his home.
Heartbreak to happiness!
Sheryl Kyle had never intended to return to Sweet Creek. That reluctantly changed when Mark Andrews showed up at the bar where she was working to say her stepfather, Ed, was dying and his greatest wish was to see her. Sheryl had left on the worst of terms with her Ed and Nate, her stepbrother, and when she had later sent a letter with a desperate plea for help it was returned.
Mark expected to find the stubborn, spoiled girl Nate had described, but either Sheryl had drastically changed since she left Sweet Creek or there was another side to the story. He could not deny the attraction or the need to protect that he felt for her. They had so many things in common but something in her life had turned her away from God and that was a deal-breaker.
The story really pulled me back and forth. At first I found it hard to read because of the emotion and the attitudes of the characters but as the story progressed I began to enjoy it more and more.
Great read!
A clean story, easy to readnwith a happy ending.
Sweet story, well written.
I liked how this developed, the characters were interesting, and the leading lady not afraid to try …
Sheryl’s step-father, Ed, and step-brother, Nate, were not shy about how much they didn’t like her boyfriend or how much they wished she was more religious like them. After losing her mother, she was left to deal with them on her own so Sheryl left her small-town ranch childhood behind her as soon as possible and ran away with the town bad boy, Jason. Her marriage didn’t turn out the way she had hoped and now that she is a widow, she is determined to make it on her own even if it means working in a bar to make ends meet while trying to get a degree. That is until Mark walks into the bar she’s working at and tells her that he is there to take her home because her dying step-father wants to see her. Sheryl doesn’t want to go but she is drawn to Mark and interested in what Ed wants. Mark’s sister, Elise, is married to Nate and they run the ranch together. When Nate is injured and unable to help with the haying, Sheryl steps in and helps Mark. She’s done all of this hard work before and it brings her back to the land that she loved once upon a time. As Sheryl falls in love with Mark and his large loving family, will she be able to trust him? Can Sheryl forgive Ed for his treatment of her as a child which he says he is sorry about now that he is dying? Can Sheryl find her way back to God? Will Sheryl decide to move back to the land she loves and leave her city dreams behind? So many questions and they only way to get the answers is to read the book!
The characters in this book are very well developed. You can really feel the struggles that they have dealt with in their lives and how it shaped them into the people they are today. The scenery is beautifully described.
The story started a bit slow for me but once I got about ¼ of the way through, it kept my interest to the point that I didn’t want to put it down. All of the important answers come at the end of the book so I’m glad that I kept reading.
I received an ARC of this book and have voluntarily provided an honest review.
this book was a never put it down. i loved the story line, was easy to follow and the characters were wonderful. a great christian romance novel with a surprise ending. I absolutely loved it and recommended my wife read it
Interesting look at how family can affect a young persons view of themselves, and how it contributes to who they become. Although this is a romance with a happy ending, there is a pointed reminder that anger and an unforgiving attitude hurts.Once started I wanted to read uninterrupted to the end.
Homecoming
Amazing
Good read. Happy ever after.
A wonderful Christian book of forgiveness and love.
Great story with a happy ending.
Enjoyed this book. Didn’t want to put it down even though I thought I knew how it would end.
Excellent slow-moving romance.
I reviewed this on Amazon.com. It’s a good Christian romance novel. I enjoyed it because it presented thoughtful viewpoints of both the heroine and the hero. 🙂
You can forgive. Love Christian romances. This is a great encouragement for those who fill unworthy of a second chance.
