I hadn’t seen Major Reese Flint in ten years—not since I was sixteen. Growing up, he was always kind to me despite our age difference and my role as the caretaker’s daughter. Our reunion forced me to see the gorgeous man he’d turned into. Reese was just as shocked by me, but evidently not in a good way since he then resolutely avoided me.We’re forced back together when Reese’s mother hires me to … mother hires me to help him recover from an injury since I still live in the garage apartment above the house I watched for him while he was deployed.
When Reese’s mom asks for more than that, I’m torn between my loyalty to the family who gave me so much during my childhood and my newfound feelings for Reese. Just when Reese stops resisting his interest in me and I have more than I could have hoped for, I discover I’m more at risk of losing everything than I could have imagined.

I am new to Claire Cain, and I am officially in love! Erin and Reese’s story was amazing! It gave me all the feels! I cannot wait to read more from this author! LOVED!
First time in coming across this author with the story being one I would read so in I did go. Men whom have been soldiers are dear to the heart.
Erin will have her hands full when after she sees Reese again. Even though they knew each other before this one is kinda like a second chance at a different direction. Oh boy is it a turbulent direction too. Many emotions will be involved thanks to the factors that formulate this one.
Fighting attractions are fun to watch also to see if and when things will take a turn. i do believe though these where two halves that could make a whole. The family of his though is one I would avoid . It keeps your attention until the end wanting to see how this concludes.
3.5 stars
Despite wealth and privilege, Reese grew up in a rather isolated existence. Longing to fulfill the duty in his heart and to find a place to belong, he joined the Army and it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him. He loves his job and aspires to more, much to the dismay of his attention seeking family. They’re disappointed with his choice to live a life of service and instead pressure him at every turn to live up to the family’s expectations and political aspirations. After an injury, he’s forced to recuperate at home where (thank God, his mother is too busy to be around) the beautiful girl he’s known half his life, Erin awaits to assist him. Erin’s family lived on the estate and worked for his family, she’s practically a family member but he definitely doesn’t see her that way. The girl is gone and in her place is a woman Reese finds himself drawn to in every way.
Erin, aka Sunny, wanted to be friends with Reese, or even more but he’s spent more than a year avoiding her. Seeing him hurt is crushing, so of course, she agreed to help the growly bear Reese while he recuperates, when his mother asks. She just didn’t expect it to come with strings, or feelings. At long last, she begins to break down his walls. The more she gets to know him, the more she feels for him.
As a first time reader of Claire Cain, I didn’t know what to expect going into this book but I’ll just read about anything set around our military. However, I just didn’t feel the chemistry. While the storyline was compelling, I just didn’t feel much connection to the characters. The most intense emotion I felt during the whole book was my incredible dislike and disdain for his manipulative family. But it’s a good storyline and as an avid romance reader and reviewer, I can say this book appeals to a certain audience wanting what I’d call a “clean romance”.
