A heart wrenching emotional story that will leave you thinking for quite a while. We first met Erin in, My Way to You. Erin is a very secretive person, works from home and pays cash for everything. We now find out that she was a victim of domestic abuse, and she needs to learn to trust and open her heart again. Matt is the perfect person, he is so patient and caring for Erin.
This book will pull you in from the first page and will not let go until the end. A very tough subject that touches many and well told. I highly recommend this book.
Another amazing emotion packed story in this series! From Erin’s gut wrenching backstory to the way Matt cares for Erin will have your heart bursting and your emotions on full alert. Incredible characters and superb writing make this a very fluid read although be warned there is some tough subject matter which may push trigger buttons. Domestic violence is always difficult to read about but this author did an amazing job crafting a story that while giving enough details to make the past clear the events were not trivialized in any way. This is definitely a book that will touch your heart and stay with you for a long time to come. A definite must read.
Excellently Done. In this entrant to the Creek Canyon series, we lose focus on the work of the male lead – while it is there, it isn’t as prominent as the first book – while getting even more in depth with the emotional trauma of the female lead. Which, full disclosure here since it is such a sensitive topic for some, is domestic abuse. Bybee does an amazing job of bringing us in to Erin’s worlds and her fears about them ever meeting. The suspense built up through one part of the book in particular is some amazing work, ratcheting up the tension to almost unbearable levels. But then the payoff comes rather suddenly in the closing pages of the book, and that is arguably the book’s one flaw. Still, truly excellent work and very much recommended.

Home to Me is book 2 in the Canyon Creek series by Catherine Bybee it’s an amazing addition to this series, keeping you turning the pages to find out what happens around each corner.
Erin who we met in book 1 is renting from Parker Sinclair, she has secrets, works from home, quiet and reserved but after meeting Matt Hudson, they become friends then much more but when someone from Erin’s past comes looking for her…the families Sinclair and Hudson will do whatever it takes to keep her safe and show her the love she has been missing in her life…
I loved the first book in the Creek Canyon series and I have been really looking forward to this book. I was not disappointed. Erin is a strong woman. She has escaped an abusive relationship and trying to find her way in her new life. Matt is an incredibly good man. I loved their story! Catherine Bybee knows how to write strong characters. She builds great relationships between all the characters and you can truly feel the family ties and strong friendships. It makes the stories so much better. The book was over too quickly and I’m already looking forward to the next story! I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A great sequel to the first book in the series. Erin Fleming knows that if her husband finds her, he will kill her. She is living off the grid, only keeping in touch with her attorney, as she waits for her divorce to become final. Matt Hudson, firefighter, has shown friendship to Erin and she is aware that he wants more, but can she trust another man? As he slowly gets through her defenses, and her attraction to him grows, can they build a life when the threat of her ex hangs over her head? Wonderful family characters with a story line that tugs at the heart. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
I so loved this second chance romance! It’s the perfect combination of suspense, angst and humor rolled into one! If you want an escape from reality – this is the book to choose! Great job!
This story captured my heart with the patience and care that the hero exhibits as he gently works to win the heroine’s heart. Never before have I met a book hero that knew exactly what was needed to help heal his woman while making a place for himself in her life. Matt has definitely earned a place on my favorite hero list and it’s going to be a while before another can outshine him.
This is written with so much heart as Erin is showcased by this author as being first a victim before moving into a survivor. But she’s barely surviving until new friends and Matt bring a support system that helps her to step into warrior mode. Watching this change was absolutely beautiful. The fact that it revolved around her strength made it all the more wonderful.
While there isn’t a lot of drama, this has a fast pace as Matt and Erin’s relationship develops. Once I started reading I could not stop. I loved this couple so much. The drama that is sprinkled throughout was just enough to keep me on edge about what would happen. Secondary characters are revisited and some of them were more fully developed which makes me hopeful they will get their own books.
I gotta recommend this one to anyone who loves a hero that will win your heart with his careful ways, fun personality, and gentle heart and a heroine that grows in emotional strength throughout the story.
This book was my very first read by Catherine Bybee and I loved every second. Erin had anxiety issues after she left her abusive husband and legally changed her name. She filed for divorce with forgoing anything, found a new place to live, and new friends. She had issues to trust but taking small steps and.a little bit of patience was the right way to learn to trust again. What she hadn’t expected was to fall in love with a hot firefighter Matt. She was amazed about the support her friends and Matt were giving her but her worst nightmare just hit the surface….her husband has found her….
Can she finally get away from him?
I just couldn’t else than fell in love with Erin and Matt. They were such an amazing pair and their story is just as amazing.
I thought this author did an incredible job of taking on such a sensitive subject as domestic abuse. I really found myself trying to picture myself in Erin’s shoes. How would I feel? What would I have done? It pretty much had me on pins and needles throughout the book.
If you have read the first book in the series, which you don’t have to to be able to read this one, you do learn that Erin is in hiding from her ex. Thankfully, there is very minimal scenes with actual abuse in the book. I’m one of those readers that would have found it hard to read in-the-moment scenes like that. However, you do learn some of the things he did to her because this book is her journey to shedding off the victim that she was and learning to become her new self.
One of the great things about this book is the support system Erin had. The only good person from her old life was her sister and seeing her now with the support of Parker and Matt’s family, she shined. Matt was more than I expected. The way he took care in his pursuit of Erin showed how unselfish he was and how much he truly put her first. It really showed how much someone can blossom under the right kind of love and care. What a really great message to receive from a story.
5 Star Review Home To Me (Creek Canyon #2) by Catherine Bybee
The second book in Ms.Bybee’s latest series was a well written, emotional story with a heroine who has survived so much, is strong, resilient and determined to escape her abusive ex.
I admired Erin Fleming as she turned her life around and moved to Santa Clarita, California. Matt Hudson, a firefighter is the man who makes her heart flutter and may well be the man who can earn her trust. He is caring and protective of Erin, totally swoon worthy and he ticked the boxes for me.
Matt is attracted to Erin, he knows she has secrets she is hiding, but he can tell that she has been through so much and yet is determined not to give in. All he wants to do is help and protect her but it is hard going. Home To Me is a heartfelt story that is emotional and at times gut wrenching. It is also a sweet story about love and overcoming obstacles that life puts in your path and in doing so allowing oneself to open up to the possibility of finding love and happiness again.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
This is an emotional story of the strength of a woman who has escaped from an abusive situation. It is the story of the healing support of good friends and family, and the courage to move forward and start over. I was captivated from the beginning and had a hard time putting this book down. I highly recommend this book!
I had the honor and privilege of reading an ARC of Catherine Bybee’s Home to Me, the second book in the Creek Canyon series for an honest review. I can sincerely say, that Home to Me is an incredible story and I could not put it down. I loved every page of this emotionally charged love story. One of my favorite parts was how the title of the book is incorporated into the love story. Catherine Bybee has once again proven that she is a master storyteller who writes amazing stories. I loved My Way to You the first book in the series and was uncertain how Catherine Bybee would top that book, but she did. I loved Home to Me more than I thought possible. I love how each of these books reflect events that have affected Catherine Bybee’s life personally. Catherine writes about great characters, and loving families, but most of all she writes about strong women who make it back after devastating life altering events that have changed the consequences of their lives. I love her descriptions of the settings around Creek Canyon. Once again, I love how Catherine opened her heart in the Author’s Note section of the book. Home to Me is the story of Matt Hudson, Colin’s younger brother, and Erin Fleming, the tenant who lives in Parker Sinclair’s guest house. Matt is a firefighter and I love the new insight that Catherine Bybee provided into the lives that firefighters live to keep us safe. Erin Fleming changed her name from Maci Brandt six months before moving to Creek Canyon with her many secrets about her past. Erin changed her name and identity and get away from her abusive husband, who promised to kill her if she ran away and he found her. Erin is currently a manuscript editor, a job she can do while she lives off the grid. She lives in constant fear that Desmond will somehow find her and keep his promise. Erin filed for divorce from her husband Desmond Brandt, three months after leaving, but he keeps delaying the divorce proceedings. Matt is attracted to Erin at first sight, but she informs him that she cannot give him the relationship that he wants. That does not stop Matt from pursuing Erin. Eventually, Matt and Erin begin dating. Erin courageously decides to tell Matt everything about her past, but he has to promise her that he will keep it secret and not share her story with anyone, including his family, especially his brother, Colin. I love how understanding and loving Matt is towards Erin. Erin and Matt’s love story is so emotionally charged. Of course, Desmond is able to locate Erin/Maci with the help of private investigators. Home to Me has given me a whole new admiration for women who have left abusive relationships and the strength and courage it takes to start a new life. Catherine Bybee describes in heart wrenching detail Erin’s abusive experiences at the hands of her husband. I love Erin’s transformation throughout the book. Home to Me is filled with all the things that I have come to love and expect in all of Catherine Bybee’s books. I especially love her bittersweet and poignant moments, and the surprise plot twists. I love how everything gets resolved and in much better ways than I had expected. I also enjoyed the lighter moments in the book, especially Colin’s proposal, that help dispel some of the darkness. It was wonderful catching up Parker and the Sinclairs and Colin and the Hudsons, it felt like a family reunion. Reading Home to Me made me realize how truly blessed I am to have never experienced the kind of pain and abuse that Erin/Maci suffered at the hands of the man who professed to love her. I highly recommend Home to Me a beautifully written emotional second chance love story.
