Was it a coincidence or fate when Hannah bumped into Keane? Hannah knew the day would come but still wasn’t ready. Her son Marcus moved to Great Falls with his fiancée. She has an empty nest and isn’t sure where her life is headed. When her best friend, Abigail Cahill, plans her own wedding, Hannah decides the time has come for her to try dating. When she enters the dating game, she learns the … the dating game, she learns the rules have changed.
Widower, Keane Barnesworth, knows a thing or two about relationships. As the owner of a pub in a historic building on Main Street, he’s talked many of Three Creek’s happily married men through the highs and lows of marriage. His best friend Donovan just married, and Kent’s wedding is around the corner.
Thanks to Abigail and Kent’s wedding, Hannah and Keane are thrown together, and an unusual friendship is formed. When they spend time together, Hannah shows Keane what he has been missing, and Keane teaches Hannah to avoid men like him.
Things get interesting in Three Creeks when Keane is tasked with the challenge of convincing Hannah to give him the chance he may not deserve.
Home Sweet Home is a small town, feel-good, love story that shows the road to redemption never looks like what we expect, but that doesn’t make the journey any less sweet.

This is the second book in the Three Creeks, Montana series. I read the first one and loved it and I knew I would love this one as well. I wasn’t wrong! Ms. Maywether does an excellent job of creating a story that touches your heart and pulls you in. This love story involves a more mature couple, around the 40+ age range. Hannah is getting back in the dating game after being a single mom for so many years. Keane lost his wife some six years ago and still misses her and is not sure he is ready to open up his heart again to love.
This is a truly heartwarming and charming story that is filled with love and healing. Both characters are wonderful with such realistic qualities. I love this second book in the series and I can’t wait to read the next one!

This is the 3rd book I’ve read written by Merri Maywether; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

Hannah is ready to move on in her life, so she decides to start dating again and enters into a relationship with Keane. But he has things in his past that he did not move on from, and this causes ups and downs in their romance.
Not Much There There
When I saw this book on a favorite book review site, I liked that it featured an older couple, one in their late forties. I don’t think that middle-age is used nearly often enough in contemporary romances. Unfortunately, though, while I liked both the primary characters, I felt like the story didn’t have any true tension or conflict as well as had other issues.
When the author first presents us with the hero, he is refreshing flowers at his wife’s grave. She died six years ago from cancer, and he appeared to not have gotten over it. So I figured his main conflict would be relatively straightforward. But I was surprised when he actually asked the heroine out on a date the second time that they meet in the book. That just seems out of character for what the author was supposedly building.
Both halves of a couple have lost a spouse, the heroine decades ago, but she focused on her son and didn’t have much of a life beyond him and work. She’s just starting to get back into the dating scene now that he’s left home and has a rather unpleasant first meeting with someone from a dating site. Both the hero and the heroine have adult children who are encouraging them to date.
The problem with this book is that their relationship runs hot and cold, more so than most contemporary romances. The hot isn’t terribly hot, but the cold is friend zone icy. So that makes the entire romance very tepid. The hero treats the heroine well when he sees her, but they don’t necessarily see each other often, sometimes because of his issues and sometimes because of hers or just random plot events. At times, the couple did not have a lot of shared screen time. For me, that is essential in a romance. A romance can’t build unless the couple is together. This book came across more as middle-aged people trying to figure out their lives rather than a romance.
There was one thing I absolutely hated. Especially at the beginning, the heroine seemed overly focused on her weight and appearance. For goodness’ sake, she is in her late forties. Are we never to be allowed to not worry about this? She was concerned about eating occasional ice cream and cookies (which the hero actually made and brought to her) as well as lamenting her size-14 body. Seriously? A size 14 considered fat? I think of that as being normal sized. For all these reasons, this book failed to meet my expectations of what a contemporary romance should be and what a romance between a couple who is beyond the age of 30 should be.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
It is vital to not make anyone feel unimportant, but especially the woman you would like to date. Hannah’s son has gotten married, and she would like to find someone to love. But the dating pool is filled with sharks when you are over forty. When people in Three Creeks meddle to set Hannah up with Keane, she believes he could be the one. But Keane messes up the relationship that might have been, and he makes her feel unimportant. Can he fix things so she will forgive him and give him another chance?
This story is filled with humor, but it does make you think about how you treat others.

This is the story of Hannah and Keane. Hannah was always a single mom and now she’s an empty nester. Wanting her own special someone, where should she start her search? When she runs into Keane a widower and philanthropist he agrees to help her through the dating maze. Is this the right way to go? I enjoyed this sweet romance with all its ups and downs. Back in Three Creeks, Hannah is ready to move forward in her life. Her son is in a serious relationship, and she needs to not depend on him so much. She thinks she’s ready to date, and tries out an over-40 app. Her first date turns out to be a turd. Keane’s wife died six years ago. His sons are pushing him to move forward, begin dating, and stop dwelling on the past. He and Hannah become friends, sort of dating. She’s a little disappointed that their relationship is not really going anywhere. I truly enjoyed this book, even more than the first one in the series. Hannah was married and widowed so young that she really doesn’t know how to date. Keane was married so long that he’s not sure he wants to be so hurt again. They have such a nice time together, but he still pulls back. These two were so back and forth that I nearly had whiplash – not a complaint, though, because it makes for an interesting story. This little town has this absolutely terrific group of friends, mostly just a little older and more mature, the kind of people I’d like to have in my own life. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
