“The hilarious dialog and the tension between Savannah and Rafe will delight fans of chick-lit mysteries and romantic suspense.” Jo Ann Vicarel, Library JournalSavannah Martin has always been a good girl, doing what was expected and fully expecting life to fall into place in its turn. But when her perfect husband turns out to be a lying, cheating slimeball—and bad in bed to boot—Savannah kicks … boot—Savannah kicks the jerk to the curb and embarks on life on her own terms. With a new apartment, a new career, and a brand new outlook on life, she’s all set to take the world by storm.
If only the world would stop throwing her curveballs…
The end is near.
The end of Savannah’s pregnancy, that is. Less than a month to go, and she’ll be the mother of what will surely be the most adorable baby boy or baby girl in the world.
But before that, there’s Thanksgiving with the Martins to get through. Not to mention a little spot of murder at the group home where Mrs. Jenkins, Savannah’s grandmother-in-law, lives.
A spot of murder that leaves Mrs. Jenkins covered in blood, and with no memory of who else might have hurt night nurse Julia Poole.
With Savannah’s friend, homicide detective Tamara Grimaldi, investigating, and Savannah’s husband Rafe insisting that the detective can’t find out about Mrs. Jenkins’s involvement, in case she doesn’t share his rock-solid belief that Mrs. Jenkins would never kill anyone, Savannah’s caught between a rock and a hard place.
Can she help Mrs. Jenkins figure out the truth before Detective Grimaldi throws them both in prison… or before the real murderer comes back to finish the job?
“I have loved this series since book one and have enjoyed being along for the ride as Savannah has grown from the princess on the hill who tried to live up to her mother’s outdated expectations into a strong woman who stands up for her own beliefs and the man she loves. Jenna Bennett has tackled a sensitive subject with honesty, Southern charm, and laugh out loud humor. And the series keeps getting better. I can’t wait for the next one.” Amazon Reviewer Karli

I’ve read the whole series of Savannah Martin Mysteries, loved the entire series. Looking forward to more coming.
This is book #15 in the Savannah Martin series and it is one of the best! It takes place around Thanksgiving. Rafe’s grandmother shows up at their house in the middle of the night with blood on her clothes. She has dementia and can’t remember what happened. Rafe & Savannah get to work solving the crime. It is a very exciting cozy mystery with some twists especially with the family! Plus Rafe & Savannah ‘ s baby arrives!! It is what we have all been waiting for! This is one of the best series I have ever read!
I’m not sure this is my absolute favorite of the Savannah Martin series, but if it isn’t it’s pretty darn close! I know I’ve said this before, numerous times, I LOVE this series!!!! Home Stretch has it all; suspense, laughs, intrigue, lots of action, wonderful characters (of course, that goes without saying), and the sweetness that is Savannah and Rafe. Trouble follows them, mostly Savannah, wherever they go and those troubles continue in Home Stretch. Like always, though, they figure it out in the end. What an ending this one was…..their long-awaited baby finally arrives. And arrives as you would totally expect Savannah’s baby to arrive…unpredictably and independently of what anyone thinks.
While I guess you don’t technically have to read these books in order, to get full enjoyment you really should. If you haven’t read any of them and feel intimidated by 15 books in the series, don’t be. They are so engaging and fun you won’t want to put them down.
Jenna Bennett is a fabulous writer and I have followed all of her savannah martin books and they were riveting. She is likely my favorite writer.
Love these books!
It was with great satisfaction that I finished this book. Why? Because Savannah and Rafe FINALLY have that baby we have been waiting for so long. After saying that, I should definitely tell you that this is a series that MUST be read in order. It is simply too complicated to explain every detail that has happened in the past to Savannah in order for you to understand this book. So start at the beginning and read them all in order!
Rafe’s grandmother arrives at their home in the middle of a rainy night, covered with blood. The nursing home doesn’t even know she is missing! How did she cover the fifteen miles in the middle of the night? Who’s blood is it? None of these answers will come from Mrs. Jenkins who is suffering from dementia and confusion. It is up to Rafe to figure it out and for Savannah to keep a close eye on Mrs. J, so she doesn’t wander off again. With only three more weeks until her due date, Savannah is content to trying to keep Mrs. J happy, fed, and in sight. Only that is a lot harder than it sounds!
Once again Ms Bennett has woven mystery into the Collier’s life and it impacts everyone around them. From the detective to Savannah’s complete family, it takes them all to solve the mystery and keep Savannah safe. These character’s personalities and behaviors are so real after 14 other books, that it is a little like being with old friends. The book is fast paced and enjoyable from beginning to the very end.
She has done it again, Jenna Bennett captured me from the beginning of Home Stretch and refused to let me go until the end, not that I wanted to stop reading the latest in one of my favorite series! I adore Rafe and Savannah and most of their friends and it was interesting have Rafe grandmother with us throughout the book. She is such a sweetie whether her mind is at peak, seldom, or if she is lost in time as usual. Seeing Savannah and others working with Mrs. Jenkins was wonderful. What isn’t wonderful is seeing her covered with blood and watching Rafe’s fear that someone might think that the dementia plague woman might be accused of murder and might be put in a place where should would be miserable. His law enforcement license could be jeopardized if he withholds evidence but he would sacrifice anything for three people, Savannah, David, and Mrs. Jenkins. When part of the action shifts to Sweetwater, Savannah is concerned about how her move will react to an uninvited guest. So much happens that pieces of several lives in Sweetwater are altered for good or for bad.
