Loved this slow burn romance. I really liked how the author spent the time developing the characters and story line so the reader gets emotionally invested. Zoey and Ryan just slayed me. They feel genuine. Even the secondary characters seemed real. Looking forward to Mica’s story! Certainly not a deal breaker, but bonus points for Zoey having short hair!

Loved it. A cute story that tugged at my heart strings. A player having trouble fitting into his new team and a homeless girl who saves him!! Great characters and a great read. highly recommend!!
Wow, I had no idea what to expect when I started this story. Having never read anything by Ms. Stone before (and admittedly being addicted to hockey themed romance), I was hooked right from the beginning. Her writing style, character development and story line reminded me of some of my favorite, seasoned story tellers such as Sawyer Bennett, Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen. Being a Canadian girl, I also appreciated the familiar landscape woven in to the story. This is the first by this author that I’ve read but definitely not the last. Time to go back and read the first in the series and to catch up on her other work.
I have read several Odette Stone stories and like a good wine she just keeps getting better and better with age and experience. In this second installment of the Vancouver Wolves Hockey series she has taken her game to a new level. The emotions are raw and pouring of the pages. Ryan is one of the best characters I have read in awhile. I just want to hold him and help fix him. The story progressed at a natural pace, not feeling hurried or drawn out. Reading this one engage my soul not just my mind. The experience was a full experience and when the story was over I was left with a warm feeling and ready to read the next story in the series. I can’t say enough good stuff about this one. In my mind it is a must read, even if you are not into sports romances, it is hard to not be a fan of love and this one is a great love story.

It’s been a while since I’ve fallen completely in love with a book and its characters but this book just caught me by surprised and I loved very minute of it. Ryan and Zoey’s relationship built slowly over but when they finally came together it was incredible. I love that they got to know each other before moving on to the physical. It just made it better when they finally did. I now need to go back and read the first book in the series. I hope there will be more in the series.
I found this book to be a real joy to read with the great character and storyline development! As I turned each and every page I felt like Ryan and Zoey jumped from the pages and pulled me right into their story as it unfolded!

Great characters
I loved these excellent characters who are finally two souls alone who are struggling against elements they did not choose.
Zoey who is orphaned, homeless at age 20 and hiding in the city to escape a threat from her past, leaving her alone constantly, and Ryan, a great hockey player but who arrived two months ago in a team that does not did not want him and he definitely can feel it even if he’s a good guy. He is like in transit in his apartment.
Their meeting is rather unpredictable, as well as when they are reunited again. And when Ryan understands that she is in need and even more lonely than him, he offers her to stay in his condom until she recovers from an assault. They get to know each other and although attracted, they refuse to succumb because they already share an apartment and this is only temporary because Zoey has learned to live alone, without help.
I loved the relationship with Ryan’s teammates, their interactions with Zoey, the description of what a famous player faces for this woman who lives in anonymity, as well as the tensions around them, jealousies, threats.
Very good romance

A Review of Home Game by Odette Stone
Ryan and Zoey – 5 Stars
If you read the first book in this series, then you may remember Ryan. We also see the GM, Mark Ashford and his daughter, Rory, who was one of the major characters from the first book. I ABSOLUTELY loved Zoey and how she does her best to stand on her own two feet, without asking for anything from others. The characters were well defined and the chemistry between Zoey and Ryan was sweet. Granted, there were times when I wanted to reach out and smack both of them, but that’s what makes such great characters. Well worth taking the time to read and enjoy! Looking forward to seeing which character the next book will be about.

The old adage “if you love someone set them free”.
Zoey’s story is so heartbreaking. I love how she dresses tough to appear tough. Underneath she is a little girl looking for respect, safety and love. Ryan seems a little selfish in the beginning but everything that he does for Zoey shows the big heart he carries around.
Zoey is in a coffee shop and she sees Ryan trying to enter his receipts on his laptop. She helps him with that and he gives her his card. Zoey is homeless and trying to make her way to the shelter before they close. But she doesn’t make it in time so she tries for a diner that lets her hang out. But they are closed so she tries to hang around out back but a guy attacks her. She ends up in the hospital as a Bus Driver helped stop her attack and called 911. With no phone on her and no identification, they find Ryan’s card and give him a call. Ryan is a hockey player and new to the team since he was traded. His new team doesn’t like him since he took out one of their best players last season. But when Ryan gets the call he goes to see if he can help Zoey. My heart just broke for Zoey and all the hardships she endured. Plus she kept thinking that Ryan would tire of helping her and kick her out. Loved Ryan but he could be so dense at times I wanted to shake him. But he doesn’t do relationships and he tells Zoey he won’t touch her while she stays with him. Heartbreaking in many places but also heartwarming as well. I wanted Bianca to get her comeuppance but guess what Zoey did was fine. Thoroughly enjoyed this book!!

I loved everything about this book. I was so into it that when I wasn’t reading it I couldn’t wait to get back to it. Oh my goodness sweet giving Ryan. What a great guy he is. What woman would t want a Ryan in her life even just as a friend. Zoey was so adorable and vaunerable yet she was also strong and determined. Her innocent honesty was so refreshing that she was easy to love. I have read both books in this series and I’m looking forward to Mica’s story.

Unputdownable. This author is a master of the slow burn romance. I devoured this book in a single day and then mourned the loss of it when I finished. This entire series is going on the very short list of books I would read a second (third, fourth…) time.

This is the second book in the ‘A Vancouver Wolves Hockey’ series and it is an enthralling read. It is well written; the plot is well-developed, consistent, creative, and relatable. The characters – Ryan and Zoey – together are an amazing fit … even as they struggle with trust issues and fitting it. This is an on the edge of your seat read from beginning to end, so hold on because you are in for quite a ride. I look forward to the next book in this series.

This was such a great story! I knew by the beginning I would cry later on in the book and boy was I right. I cried and cried to the point where I could not see. However, it was totally worth it! The ending was so sweet and romantic and just perfect.
I would recommend this story.

I loved this book and I have no idea what to say about it. It’s sweet and adorable and precious and dark and angsty and emotional – it might be quicker for me just to say that it was a bit of an emotional roller-coaster ride by the end. Zoey and Ryan are anything but typical and I think that’s a large part of what made me love them so much. They’re not the lead characters you expect to read: they’re real and human and down to earth. Living in one of the hockey towns mentioned in this book, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to run into Ryan or Zoey on the street, and I feel like I could have an amazing conversation with either one of them. I’m falling deeper in love with this cast of characters and I can’t wait to see what’s next for them.

I enjoyed this new addition to the “Vancouver Wolves Hockey” series. It’s a beautiful story that is well written with some great characters. I loved Zoey and Ryan! It’s a slow build story but really great one.
Odette Stone is on a winning streak with HOME GAME, the second book in the Vancouver Wolves Hockey series. Hockey star Ryan Parker has been traded to the Vancouver Wolves, where his teammates hate him. Zobenia (Zoe) Petrick is down on her luck. The two could just save each other.
I really love Ryan. He has had a difficult time adjusting to his new team because when he was on his previous team, he accidentally hurt Wolves’ player, Noah Moore. It was a clean hit, but not everyone feels that way. Ryan’s rivalry with Jensen was an interesting aspect in the story. Jensen is Noah’s best friend and fellow assistant captain. Ryan is a remarkable character. He is a total boy scout. He is giving and kind.
Zoey is an amazing heroine. After her parents’ death, she was put in foster care. At age nineteen, she was left to fend for herself. Only able to make minimum wage she is left homeless. For good reasons, she finds it hard to trust. She is strong and has a great personality. She is the kind of person that people gravitate towards.
HOME GAME is a heartfelt and emotional story. The characters have many challenges and grow tremendously throughout the story. The novel is skillfully written and hard to put down. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
