Somehow I’ve read all Cee Bowerman’s books but missed this. It was nice to be able to go back and see how Carlie and Sam reconnected after eleven years apart. Thankfully the reunion wasn’t horrible and angst filled and he didn’t make her grovel. Such a sweet book and even sweeter characters.
Cee Bowerman is a new to me author, but I have no idea why I had never read her books before.
This book was such a great read. It was a fast paced, tragic, suspenseful and great story that had my interest from the first page. The set up of the story drew me into it and held my interest and intrigued me through the entire book. I love the characters. The Duke family is loved by so many in the town. The Texas Knights MC is an MC that helps their community and are upstanding citizens, but don’t hurt one of their own or you will feel the wrath of the Knights as well as their allies.
I loved the story and the characters and will be purchasing the rest of the series to read. I cannot wait to read Lisa and Zeke’s story.
I actually didnt mind the storyline, I enjoyed the characters and the main characters of Sam and Carlie.
I actually did like how their was no pussy footing around with Sam and his feelings towards Carlie despite her leaving him the way she did.
There were also some really funny moments and I loved the animals contribution to the story.
I am not going to judge the book or author by just one read, as I have read other series where the no. 1 book didnt really grab me but things really drew me in with the rest in the series.
I am really looking forward to the 2nd in the series.
Thank you.
Carlie Jenkins never wanted to leave Sam Duke, in fact she had decided to no longer run when the man determined to kill her was near. However, she had to run in order to protect those she loved. Now years later she is back with her makeshift family in tow and she is hoping Sam will forgive her. Determined to root her life in Rojo, Texas.
Sam has had a hard time letting Carlie go, she left him without a word and she had been the love of his life. Now she is back and he wants answers, he doesn’t plan to restart a relationship with her but he wants a why to all the pain she caused. Finding out why she left though has Sam determined to move away from the past and keep Carlie close by his side. However danger is still out there and he is determined to keep her safely by his side.
This was a bit of surprise for me, was not what I expected from Sam and Carlie. There story was a bit of a tear jerker at times when Carlie had to relive her past. Some new characters introduced that I am anxious to read about. Entertaining.
