Las doesn’t date seasonal workers. Marco’s on a three-month contract.Lassiter Windsor-March has been planning for his future for as long as he can remember and he knows exactly where that future lies: at his family’s ranch in Wyoming. What doesn’t lie in his future is a summer fling with one of the seasonal workers—they never stick around.Even if one of those workers is the college crush he’s … college crush he’s invited to work a summer job at the ranch.
Marco Terlizzese is as laissez-faire as Las isn’t. He might not know where he’ll be once his contract with Windsor Ranch is up, but he knows three months is plenty of time to get his long-time crush to agree to go out with him.
Amid a starry summer sky, their chemistry ignites as feelings deepen, forcing Las and Marco to decide where they truly belong.

I love Amy’s books, but this one is the best. I finished in two sittings. I loved Marco and Las. Las’s love for his ranch was real and I loved watching Marco fall in love with it too. I also loved Marco that he knows himself well enough to turn down a chance to play pro hockey for a career and a man he truly loves. I can’t wait to read more about this wonderful ranch and town.
FYI: I recieved an ARC of this book. This is voluntary and an honest review.
The sweetest journey of self-discovery.
Marco was sort of floundering through life’s vast options. He loved hockey but he didn’t breathe it. He got his communications degree because well he needed to do something. It was all just empty motions meant to hold the world at bay – if just for another moment.
Las knew what he wanted from life. He knew where he was headed and he had thought he knew who was going to be at his side. Turned out he was wrong.
Las would still achieve his dreams just …
Alone
Until a missed date
A sexy barista (a bit of a stretch)
And an impromptu invitation
This had all the feels.
I laughed. My heart cracked. I yelled. I wanted to smack some sense into these two.
Best of all though … I felt a part of their journey.
Home for a Cowboy is a slow build romance with the most delicious tension simmering just below the surface.
Journeying with Marco as he discovers what he wants from life
Watching as Las takes that chance despite past experiences
…. sigh…
Home For a Cowboy is the first book I’ve read by Amy Aislin, but I look forward to reading more. I was completely engaged with this story, it’s so well written and flowed seamlessly. There was so much pining in this story, So.Much.Pining. And I loved it. Las and Marco are so endearing! Apparently I’ve been on an opposites-attract kick lately, without even realizing it, and these two fit that bill as well. I loved how Las knew what he wanted out of life and for his future, and how opposite that was from Marco, who knew what he didn’t want, but couldn’t quite figure out what it was that he did want. Until he came to Windsor Ranch and found exactly what he wasn’t looking for.
And now I want to move to Wyoming and work at a ranch. Ok, maybe an indoor job at a ranch, but still. For me, the atmosphere and location of Home for a Cowboy were just as important to this story as the characters. Ms. Aislin did a really nice job of making me feel like I was there with them.
I’m looking forward to more books in this series- there are a few characters that definitely deserve their own stories!
5 Stars
What do you do after telling your crush you can’t go on a date? You offer him a job, silly! Duh. That’s exactly what Lassiter Windsor March did, too. Working on a ranch was never something that even occurred to Marcos Terlizzese, but it didn’t stop him from accepting the job offer.
While this book wasn’t fast-paced, it wasn’t exactly a slow burn, either. I’d say it was medium paced, 50/50. Their chemistry undeniable, and they conversed very easily. One was gun shy, and one wasn’t. Their chemistry came to a head after a weekend apart. There were fireworks, rain, and some hay involved.
I LOVED this book. The writing, characters, storyline…everything. It’s the first in the series, but doesn’t end in a cliffhanger. I have my suspicions about the main characters for book two, and I’m DYING to find out. I cannot wait until it releases.
This is a low LOW angst book with all the fluff my little heart can handle. It has plenty of steam, some family game nights, and a lot of other heartwarming moments you aren’t gonna wanna miss out on. You will grin as much as I did (you can deny it, but you will) when I read it. I’d give this book 6 stars if I could.

What a sweet love story this was. I’m not sure who I loved more. Both Las and Marco were great characters. I loved the Las knew what he wanted. I found a kinder spirit in Marco with him not knowing his place yet. I remember when I was in my earlier 20s and was still trying to figure bout what my purpose was. It both hard and fun reading how much they wanted to keep each other but no one dared to say the words out loud.
All in all this was a fun, low on drama, filled with great banter book. It made me smile, had me teary eye a time or two but most of all it gave me so many feels I don’t have words to explain. I highly recommend this story to anyone looks for a great love story.

Once I started this book, I could not put it down! This was a sweet summer romance about two men, one who knew what he wanted and one who was uncertain what he wanted until he stepped foot in the Wyoming ranch. Las knew he wanted to go back to his family’s ranch and work and while he wanted Marco, he didn’t want to let his guard down to let him in. However over the summer, Marco broke down Las while falling in love with the Wyoming vastness and Las. This had little angst with a lot of love and a bunch of secondary characters who all hopefully get their happily ever after.
A great story between two characters from different back grounds and the struggles with the attraction between themselves and their past relationships.
This was adorable. A lovely tale of seizing the day and finding your place in the world.
Las and Marco made a sweet couple and there was little angst despite the time limit on their relationship.
I was worried at first that Las was too serious too soon about a guy he barely knew and he’d not even kissed yet. But then I realised that is just how he is, plus he’d been pining for a year.
A glorious ending had me soppy and grinning for the last 20% of the book.
Can’t wait for the next book. I’m hoping it’s a certain photographer and ranch foreman.
4.5 stars…I really enjoyed this first cowboy book from Amy Aislin (though it is hockey adjacent!) and am hoping it is the start of a series because I really want Reid’s story and Austin and Cal’s story!
The MCs here are Las, fourth generation rancher at the Windsor Ranch in Windsor Wyoming and Marco, city boy from Philly, and recent college grad with no clue what he wants to do who accepted a summer job on that ranch. Marco took the job because he wants time with Las. Las offered the job because, despite not believing he can get involved with someone who will leave at the end of the summer, he is drawn to Marco. There are several well meaning secondary characters who aid the relationship along.
The setting is another character in the book and Aislin does a fantastic job painting a picture. I could feel like I was there in each of the nature settings described…made me want to plan a trip to Wyoming!
The story arc moves well and there are some very poignant moments. It’s not too angsty but the moments each character has of self-reflection do tug at the heart. The character development, which we mostly get via the progression of the relationship, nicely dovetails with the storyline. The requisite crisis moment is not drawn out and the ending is sweet. Definitely recommend and I look forward to more books in this world.
I loved Home for a Cowboy. I love cowboys and Wyoming is most definitely a state I really want to see and hockey and a goalie, perfect. I thought this was a great YA story and I liked how it developed. I loved that it was slow and steady and hot and sexy. I kind of wonder if there’ll be stories about a few of the other characters, and get a chance to see more of Las and Marco and it’s the first of a series, so yay!! They were both so sweet and likable, I rooted for them all the way. I definitely recommend this book!
If you love romance, cowboys, Wyoming or just good love stories, you have to read this book!
Two young men have finished college…one knows what he want from life and the other is searching for his future. When the cowboy invites the hockey player to Wyoming for a temporary job on his families ranch, they both discover there is more to life than just a career. Plus you have to live the life you want…not the one your parents think you should.
“Home isn’t a place..it is’t a place on a map…but rather the place your heart was.”
Perfect!
Two recently graduated college students. Las knows what he’ll be doing after graduating, he’s working for his family’s ranch. Marco doesn’t really know where his Communications degree will land him after he graduates. He was able to go to college because of a hockey scholarship. Now he is at a lost as to what he will do next.
The offer of a summer job in his family’s ranch came out of nowhere, Las just blurted it out when Marco walked him home a few weeks before their graduation. This is after he rejected Marco’s invitation to go out with him.
Two sweet young men who are falling hard for each other. I love the honesty between them, despite being afraid of a fallout, they are determined to always be forthcoming. Both Las and Marco are endearing, open and their love for each other is strong enough to endure challenges that may come their way.
Magic & Moondust
After reading this, I want to visit Wyoming and the ranch. It sounds beautiful, peaceful and makes me want to go stargazing. I am so glad Alice “nudged” Las—he needed it at times—but remind to never play games with his family, intense but highly entertaining. “Home isn’t a place you can put a pin in on the map. It’s where your heart is.” That makes Laz and Marco part of my home. I love their story, their connection and how they made me smile. I’d dance with them any day. Take a chance, seize the day and read this book.
Sweet. full of summer, pining and interesting characters! Lovely start of a new series!
Las and Marco were wonderful characters, well-written and lovable. Their sweet romance is a great low-angst series starter and I’m looking forward to my next visit to Windsor, Wyoming.
*I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
I was so glad to see a queer story set not in a big city or college town. Especially one less about coming out and more about figuring out their lives. I loved Marco and his development as he went from just kinda going with the flow to figuring out exactly what he wanted. Las’s interactions with his family were priceless but also such a great pairing with Marco. This is a solid, sweet romance that I’ll definitely read again.
Home for a Cowboy in the first book in the Windsor, Wyoming series by Amy Aislin. A sweet western MM romance between a cowboy and a hockey goalie.
Home for a Cowboy was a calming sweet contemporary romance. The book made me want an escape from the every day. The Windsor Ranch sounded like a little slice of heaven. It was very low angst and little drama. I think I was hoping for something just a bit more to happen. Whether it be a surprise appearance by Las’ ex or something to throw the relationship more off kilter.
Our main characters Marco and Las were enjoyable. Especially Marco! he was such a cinnamon roll and all his reactions to nature and the sights Las showed him were precious. Las was a little harder for me to make a connection with, he was just so hung up on his ex in the beginning but the little actions he took to show Marco he cared warmed me to him. Together they do some fun bonding activities from camping under the stars to the farmers market on the weekend and when they give in to their lust it strengthens their connection. I loved that they became close as friends first before their relationship became more.
Overall, Home for a Cowboy was a highly pleasurable read. Amy Aislin always creates great characters and charming stories and I can’t wait for whatever she writes up next.
My heart has honestly become a slave for this book.
‘Home for a Cowboy’ by Amy Aislin is a M/M, country love kind of book and I assure you, not only will you fall in love with these characters but also with the nature and magic around it.
This story has brought me to my knees with how sweet and tender it is, from feeling for these characters to hoping for courage and happiness, to being giddy when things finally go the way they should be going.
This love story is beautiful and raw and real, following a man who knows his place in this world but who’s too scared to put his heart out there again, and a man who has never stopped looking for his own peaceful place in the world and who’s almost too eager to put himself out there even knowing how high the possibility of rejection is.
The nature that this story is set in is breathtaking, it’ll make you feel the chill in the air, the dampness on the grass first thing in the morning, the smell of the horses, and the overall, unique, and irreplaceable feeling of being on a ranch.
Las has known his place was in his family’s ranch, Windsor Ranch, for as long as he can remember, his passion and love for nature are highlighted by his willingness to put in the extra work in order to make the best out of this ranch, both in the moment and in the future.
He is sweet but reserved, caring and attentive but too scared of getting hurt again so he tries time and time again to keep his distance and not get attached.
Lassiter is smart and knows his way through nature, he loves his temperamental horse more than he loves people and would do anything for his family.
He will need to learn how to open up again, how love doesn’t always end up in pain, how to trust and be happy again without being afraid of when it’ll end.
Marco has never found a place to call home, not with his big family, not within his college, no matter how hard he tried.
He is quiet and almost distant sometimes, a man that enjoys his silence and gets uncomfortable in crowds, one that is starting to see the beauty of nature and how time stills when he’s somewhere deep in the woods or up a mountain.
Marco is funny and charismatic and brave, eager to spend time with his long-time crush any way he can and ready to put in the work for this ranch and to learn how to love the country lifestyle.
He will get hurt a couple of times before finding true happiness, he will need to go on a journey to find himself and figure out what he wants out of life, he’ll learn to open up and give Las and Windsor Ranch all he has while also experimenting and putting himself out there in order to become the man he knows he can be.
Their story is sweet and real, one we can all relate to, one that starts in fear and sometimes pain, but that will lead to the happiest and sweetest of ever afters.
I loved immersing in the beautiful life In Windsor, Wyoming, loved getting to know all the characters and learning some of their stories, hoping for one day to finally read their HEAs too.
I am not usually a fan of third-person POV, but the author’s writing managed to pull me in more and more with each chapter, letting me live through her characters and experience what they go through.
If you are looking for a soft and lovely read to get you through your day, to transport you to a stunning and almost magical place, to let your love for nature and real-life stories fly free, then I recommend you pick up this country book and saddle up your heart for one of the best rides you’ll ever experience.
Las wanted Marco, but he faught his feelings, and Marco, for the great part, didn’t really know what he wanted. It should have been frustrating to read, but it really wasn’t. The author has written them so incredibly relatable, believable and completely likable that I cared deeply about what happened to them and about their happiness.
I liked the pacing of their relationship, the way they took time to really know each other and explore their connection and attraction. The story was sweet and emotionally satisfying, and readers who love the cowboy and ranch backdrop for their romance will absolutely appreciate it. Recommended.
This was my first book by Amy Aislin. It won’t be my last!
Home For A Cowboy is the story of Lassiter and Marco. Lassiter is the son of a prominent and wealthy ranching family in Wyoming. He grew up on the ranch, knowing that one day he would take it over. He’s a born and bred son of Wyoming and his love of the land runs deep. Lassiter is also a planner. He is most comfortable when he has a concrete plan for his future mapped out in detail. His previous boyfriend, Ben, who was also his childhood best friend, broke his heart after he decided to move to England for a semester abroad – and then decided to stay. After losing his best friend and his partner, Las is seriously gun-shy about relationships.
Marco is a sweet guy who plays hockey well enough to earn an invite to an NHL development camp right after college. But, contrary to Las, Marco is kind of at loose ends. He has earned a communications degree, but he has no desire to work in PR or in any other communications job. And he isn’t sure he wants to pursue pro hockey as a career either. Because he is so uncertain, he happily accepts when Las invites him to come to Wyoming for the summer to work on the hospitality side of the ranch. It doesn’t hurt that he has a huge crush on Las.
Las wants no part of a relationship with someone who is only going to be in Wyoming for 3 months. But their friendship grows and eventually Las realizes that even though Marco plans to leave at the end of the summer, he wants to have as much time with him as he can.
Both Las and Marco are super likeable characters, and I’m a sucker for cowboys – gay or straight. There are quite a few gay or bi characters in the book. I thought was interesting that they don’t seem to face ANY kind of prejudice or bigotry. I took it to mean Amy is writing as if society is a little more advanced than we are today. I loved it, but it did require some suspension of disbelief!! Goals… right? We can hope that’s where society is heading!
I really enjoyed Home For A Cowboy and I’m looking forward to the upcoming books in the series!
