Louise “Lulu” Kingsley is thrilled to discover after years of wishing for a sibling, Cami Chandler is her half-sister. When Cami invites her to live with her at Chandler Hill, Lulu jumps at the chance to leave behind all the heartache in her recent life. Not the spoiled little rich girl the media would like everyone to think, Lulu digs into marketing for the inn and winery, feeling more … comfortable there than she ever did in California with her political father. Better yet, her mother is becoming a stronger, happier person and shares the idea of becoming part of a new family. Even though Lulu is aware that Miguel Lopez is the kind of guy who represents everything she’s trying to forget, she’s attracted to him. Following a heartbreaking situation, she steps away from their relationship. Lulu settles in at Chandler Hill, coping the best way she knows—by working hard. But when Cami’s beloved grandfather, Rafe, has a stroke, Lulu realizes life is short and knows she must make things right with Miguel, and learns that home is where your heart leads you.

This was a wonderful book and it was the perfect ending to the series. Lulu is a character that has had her share of ups and downs. She’s a hard worker and level headed. She’s searching to find herself and where she belongs. This story is warmhearted and touching. The story brings everything full circle and renews hope for the future of this extended family. Truly a great series for all to read.
I received this from ARC for my advance review.
I absolutely loved this book. From the title of the book to the last word in the story I was hooked. Well written. The story line was easy to follow and the characters were well developed. I loved reading about Lulu and the fact she finally found out she had a half-sister, Cami. Lulu goes to live at Chandler Hill and works for the marketing of the winery and inn. People still blamed her for things her political father did but she would prove to them she was her own person and not like her father. The story of Lulu, Miguel and Rafe was very heart touching. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I thought I would be sad to read the last page in this beautiful trilogy, but as it turned out I believe that Judith told the full story of these beautiful, strong women who embraced life and chose to live with intention — grandmother, granddaughter and her half-sister. So often the word “lovely” is overused; I use it here because I cannot find other words to convey the fullness I feel for this book. The author brings us fully into the lives of these women who are faced with huge challenges, prejudices, and stumbling blocks. They draw from within themselves and from their community and strong family ties not only to overcome but to go beyond and create something even better. My husband and I were fortunate enough last summer to visit my cousin and her husband in McMinville, Oregon, the setting for this series. I knew it before we arrived, because Judith had painted the picture for me in her first two books! And I was not disappointed, visiting olive growers and vineyards I could smell the loamy soil and reach down for its sandy lava feel. We feasted at Nick’s and tasted wine in cozy, beautiful tasting rooms. I knew I had been there before! After I finished Home At Last, I went back and reread the first two Chandler Hill Inn stories, and then reread Home At Last, and I loved the experience. Always, but especially at this time in our lives as we navigate the road ahead for weeks and months to come, we need this book! Read it! You will love it!
What a beautiful conclusion to this fantastic series with family as a strong foundation. This is the third book in this series and I loved it as much as the first two books. This book focuses on Louise “Lulu” Kingsley, the half-sister of Camille Chandler. After her father’s death, Lulu visits Cami at Chandler Hill to strengthen their bond. While there, Lulu meets Miguel, the great nephew of Rafe, Cami’s grandfather. She tells herself that Miguel is a player and to not get involved with him, but their one night together has consequences. Grab your copy and see what happens in this wonderful small town read. I bet you’ll want to visit and get to know all these wonderful characters.
This is the 3rd book in the Chandler Hill Inn series and this was a story that tugged at my heartstrings and many times brought tears to my eyes.
I received an ARC from Judith Keim and NetGalley for an honest review so I am going to tell you what I think. You can read what the book is about so I won’t tell the story but there is so much more to the story than you think. Lulu’s mother suffered from depression and Lulu thought she had to be responsible for her. Depression is a serious condition and so many people suffer from it. Having a mother who suffered from it, I liked what the doctor told Lulu when her mother tried killing herself again. You aren’t responsible for your mother, she is responsible for herself. She could be there for her mother but it was going to be all up to her mother. They have new medications that he was going to try and see what happens.
Lulu’s father was always away so she didn’t know who he was as a man but after he passed away, she discovered who he was and she also discovered she had a half-sister. We see Lulu trying to distance herself as his daughter and finding her own identity.
Lulu thought all men were like her father and she would never find the love that she saw others had. You will have to read the book to find out how that works out.
The book is about relationships, building dreams, and carrying on with what was passed down to you.
So many people are struggling with different things today and I don’t know if this was Judith’s intentions when she wrote. I don’t think so but the book but for me was, no matter how low she felt, or what she was going through, she found a way to keep on living her life. She found her sister, her mother, a new family and the love of them all. There is so much to this book and as I am writing my review, we are in social distancing. On April 13, it is being released and what a great way to stay connected to your friends by you all reading this book and talking about it. I think everyone takes something different from the books they read and can’t wait for my friends to read it so we can talk about it. If we can be together when the book comes out, it is still a book for you and your friends to read.
Home At Last is the 3rd book in the Chandler Hill series, and I have enjoyed each and every one of these books. The characters in the book are wonderful and I have enjoyed watching them grow as a family, I hope this isn’t the last book of the series. I would definitely recommend this book to those that enjoy a HEA.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of the book from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my fair and honest review.
Excellent Conclusion To A Fine Series
Well, I think that this is the series conclusion. This episode ties up the lives of so many characters that we love. It also fills in the lives of quite a few others. The final chapter is worth reading the entire series. I guess the short description of the book is women learning to help women. This is a wonderful epic saga covering several generations. Each generation has its own drama and love. While this series would make a great movie, I don’t think that they could do it justice. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
I have loved this series since I started reading the first book. The story is great. It’s about finding family, and love and becoming the person you really are. It was nice seeing the relationship between Lula and her mom grow. It seems that even though we think we know someone, do we really? It’s difficult to always know what a person has dealt with sometimes just from looking in from the outside. What might seem like a great life to us may be totally different if we were the one living it. Aren’t we all guilty of jumping to conclusions sometimes? How did that turn out for you? I love to visit Chandler Hill Inn, even if it’s just in my mind. I so enjoy hanging with Cami, Lula, Rafe, Drew, Miguel and the rest of the gang. I’m already looking forward to the next time we can be together. I received an ARC of this book but my opinion is my own.
Whenever I start one of this author’s book I know I’m going to immerse myself into the story like I’m one of the characters. This book has introduced some new characters that I’ve enjoyed getting to know. The women in this story have created a bond that makes you wish they were your friends. I really like the Vineyard setting. I would definitely recommend this series.
I was given an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for my unbiased review.
Lulu is the daughter of a lately departed Political go getter. He was a cheater husband and expected his wife and daughter to be there to make him look the part. When he dies unexpectedly, Lulu finds that she has a half sister from one of his affairs. She’s gun shy of love and just wants time to recover and find herself.
As always Ms Keim’s characters are like part of the family. You can easily imagine sitting on the porch and having wine with Lulu and Cami. The clan at Chandler Hill folds Lulu into their extended family giving her space to figure things out.
She’s sure love is never in her future, but surprises happen. Its delightful to watch Lulu sort through the various challenges in her life, start to find herself and come out on the other side a better and more well rounded person. Absolutely worth spending time with this family.
Home At Last is the third book in Judith Keim’s Chandler Hill Series. In this book we find that Louise (Lulu) Kingsley has joined her half-sister Cami Chandler working at the Chandler Hill Inn and Winery in marketing and filling in wherever she is needed. As she makes connections with the other series characters, she finds a strong attraction to Cami’s cousin, Miguel Lopez, which takes her down the rabbit hole.
After a passionate night with Miguel, Lulu receives an urgent call to return to Southern California as her mother has suffered an overdose. Leaving immediately and being away for some time, Miguel prepares to leave for Chile where he will work with a sister winery to learn what he can to bring back to the trio of wineries the family group has in the Willamette Valley. This separation is not conducive to the growth of this budding relationship.
While helping her mother gain strength and purpose, Lulu also finds her own and returns to Oregon where her mother, Rosalie, joins her for the holidays. Rosalie becomes enamored with the area and the people in Lulu’s new family, and makes plans for her return. Lulu, still distraught from her congressman father’s death and the secrets uncovered as a result, finds herself in a precarious position after the holidays, but focuses herself on helping others, especially her mother.
This is a very interesting series and an easy read. With great settings and rich characters, this series will entice those fond of the genre. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!
