Maren Campell has it all—respectable job, attentive fiancé, and a life in a big, bustling city. Not bad for a small-town orphan girl. When it all falls apart, what else can she do except go home? But her problems are only beginning. The county is posed to take her farm. And Jack Mason, the only man in Shepherdsville who ever broke her heart, is leading the charge. Jack Mason can’t believe Maren … believe Maren is back. Ten years ago, she swore to put Shepherdsville, and him, in her rearview mirror. Now that she’s here, Jack knows she’ll never stay. If only he can get her to leave before she wrecks his development—and steals his heart again.

This is a really great second chance romance. It is a clean romance that has swoon worthy kisses and plenty of chemistry. The characters and plot are well written and developed to keep your interest. I enjoy the small town setting with all its trappings. I can recommend this book and look forward to reading the next in this series.
Wow, Jack and Maren sure have the cards stacked against them. First she wants to leave and he wants to stay and now 10 years later she still doesn’t want to stay, but she doesn’t want Jack to tear down her grandparents home. At times I feel like I’m watching a ping pong game as the ball quickly volleys from one to the other. Still there is this underlying chemistry that keeps pulling them together. It’s a beautiful if not at times frustrating second chance story.
After reading ”Stormsurge” I knew I had to continue this series about a small town called Sheperdsville! I just loved it: the characters the setting, the chemistry, everything!
And “Home Again” was no exception! I could even say it was even more of a page turner because of the constant conflicts between the hero and the heroine.
Maren has the perfect life, a good job in an big city, a decent fiancé. Her small town orphan girl life seems far away until things turn totally upside down!… Now, she doesn’t have an option but return to Sheperdsville, and when things can’t seem to get worse, she finds out the county wants to take her farm, the only thing she has right now. And not only that, but Jack, the man who broke her heart is the man leading the charge.
And Jack can’t believe his eyes when he sees Maren back in Sheperdsville. She left him ten years ago and there’s no way he’s going to put his heart on the line again for her. Maren is made for big city’s, not for a small town life, or is she?
This story was awesome. Shawna develops so well the characters that you feel the same emotions they ar both feeling: anger, betrayal, self doubts, undeniable attraction, and in Jack’s case, that unstoppable desire to protect her and help her even when it goes totally against his original interests. Have his interests changed?
This is a beautiful story, once more, about second chances, about the need to trust and communicate, and to self sacrifice for the one you love. The romance was swooning and endearing, even if it was a struggling one. There was even humor and banter that I loved. The plot was engaging and realistic, and the way Shawna managed to fix everything u til they could get a HEA was incredible.
I totally recommend this book and I’m eager to keep reading this series and getting to know more about it’s characters. Loved the secondary characters too!
Well done Ms. Brooks! This is a must read book and an enjoyable series!
Great summer read , Going home to save her grandparents home , and running away from her problems , Maron has found that she needs to stop running away and stand for want she wants from life , including a second chance at love .
Jack and Maren’s story was so touching and heartwarming.
I love this author and look forward to reading more of her books.
She is a great author.
This is a wonderful, well written romance. The characters are very well done and quite believable. The conversations, chemistry and plot just sucked me into this story. I did not see how it could possibly work out. (I guess that is what Shawna Lynn Brooks is the author.) We do get an HEA and everything gets resolved. If you like sweet, clean romance with swoon worthy kisses, read this book. You will not be disappointed.
Clean, Second Chance Romance
This book is #2 of the Shepherdsville Series about love and life in small town, rural Alabama. This story is well done. There is no guess work in how it will end, just in how it gets there. It is a second chance love story wrapped in the trappings of small town pettiness and gossip. The characters are very believable and the plot is sound. I have read several of this author’s books and will continue to read more. I received this book for free and voluntarily chose to post my honest review.
