Cole Masten. Abandoned by his superstar wife, Hollywood’s Perfect Husband is now Hollywood’s Sexiest Bachelor: partying hard and screwing even harder. Watch out Los Angeles, there’s a new bad boy in town. Summer Jenkins. That’s me, a small town girl stuck in Quincy, Georgia. I cook some mean chicken and dumplins, can bluff a grown man out of his savings in poker, and was voted Most Friendly my … Friendly my senior year.
We were from different worlds. Our lives shouldn’t have collided. But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him.
From the start, I knew he was trouble.
For our town. And for me.
Sometimes, opposites just aren’t meant to attract.

This was my first A Torres book but it won’t be the last. Great characters, chemistry and story.
The story portrayed in this book was really good. I liked that it showed life of a Hollywood actor, as what it is and the life of a woman that lives in a small town and if you grew up in a small town you know how gossip works there. So, seeing these two worlds colliding was kind of refreshing and seeing how the characters at the end mold into each other’s life was really good, didn’t feel forced at all and I loved that. But you know what I loved the most? A strong woman as Summer I loved her character and how she didn’t put up with anyone’s crap.
Also I finished this book at 2am then went and watched the movie and I it surprised me how good it was and that so many elements of the book were included in the movie.
So definitely go read this book and go watch the movie on Passionflix.
This is a little story about glamorous city boy Cole Masten and simple country girl Summer Jenkins. Being forced to go to small town of Quincy before he is ready, Cole arrives without the help of his assistant Justin. Used to having people doing everything for him, Cole feels lost and at times angry because people are not falling all over themselves to give him what he wants, starting with him meeting Summer. Summer is used to doing things for herself and being on the fringes of society. Sparks fly between them right away and not the good kind. With both of them trying to overcome betrayals from their past, they slowly start looking past their own hurts and seeing the real person before them. I loved reading this book and was happy that it had both povs. I also like the cameo made by Brad De Luca throughout the book. It was funny reading how Cole had to navigate doing simple things and building his relationship with Cocky. At first Summer bugged me with how she acted towards Cole, but as the little pieces of her betrayal comes to light, it is understandable why she did what she did in the past and why she desperately wants to leave Quincy behind. I felt like the book ended too soon because I feel like there is more to their story to be told
I loved it so much, when I found out it had become a movie, I had to watch it. The movie really pretty much followed the book.
I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did. Then, to find out it’s been made into a movie as well, was icing on the cake!
Hollywood Dirt was a delightful enemies-to-lovers romance full of laughs, highly combustible attraction, and some seriously smexy love scenes! Man, this book was totally worth the loss of sleep!
Loved it, the extended epilogue was needed, wrapped it up nicely in a bow!
Loved it. Wonderful story. Laughing out loud at times.
Pick it up and read it. Will look for more of her books
This was such a fun read, it made me feel good. I love Summer! She pretty much didn’t want anything to do with Cole. Like, she was all whatevs to him, shoo fly shoo, you seriously bother me in the worst kind of way. It made for some great banter between them though. I couldn’t wait for the all the fun to begin! I’m a big fan of love-hate stories. Makes things explosive, in more ways than one!
Oh Cole, gotta love a man with his very own Cocky. *wink wink* It made me giggle reading about him and Cocky. Big ole movie star, taking care of a rooster. But underneath it all, he just wanted to love. His world was rocked and the poor guy didn’t know what to do with himself.
Reading about the south was awesome. In my head, I read with a southern drawl. I couldn’t help myself, it felt so real!
I highly recommend this book, great story! Oh, and her other books too! Loved seeing a certain lawyer in there. Whoo-hoo!!
Just because Summer is southern doesn’t mean the girl doesn’t have lady balls, and stands up for herself, “you’re standing in my living room, sucking up my air conditioner, drinking my still water. That’s why I’m here, Mr. Masten. And I’m not involved in anything. Ben is my friend, he was here when your attorney called and bulldozed y’all’s way into our pool party.” I seriously loved this girl, Summer she’s a breath of fresh air, “can you put on some pants?” she snapped, looking back at him, her eyebrows raised accusingly. “It’s rude to waltz around with your junk out.” When at Cole’s house one must follow histories, “you can’t cook breakfast in my shirt unless you want a effing.”He growled out the words and pulled at himself, his eyes doing a full sweep of me.” Personally in think this is the best book Alessandra has written so far, and I was so damn excited when I got to the end to ding NO CLIFFHANGER, that pleased me greatly I’m going to have to get this book in paperback for my collection
I really loved this very well written story and characters. I especially loved the interaction between Cole and Summer!! The build up was so awesome but I felt the final I Love You felt a little flat. Looking forward to more Torre
This is my first Alessandra Torre novel and I am happy to say it won’t be my last!!!
I was drawn to the book because of the blurb and I went in thinking it was going to be similar to another Hollywood type story that I have loved in the past. I am HAPPY to say that this book was just as good as the other one I was thinking of, but was completely different from that book. This storyline was completely unique and different from the other movie star romances out there.
Yes this is a book about a famous movie star ( Cole ) and a no name country girl not looking for fame ( Summer ) but that is the only similarities there are to others books like this one. I loved Alessandra’s writing style. This story and characters were engaging, intriguing and held me captive all the way through. The banter and sexual tension between Cole and Summer was off the charts. This couple made me laugh, scream and blush and that sometimes happened all within the same chapter…LOL 🙂
These characters felt real to me and totally relatable. I felt like I could be friends with both of them. I also loved the authenticity of the town of Quincy. It felt like a pace I would love to visit. I also reminded me of my own hometown growing up, ( without the Billionaires ) I enjoyed the pace that the author took with this couple and the fact that nothing felt rushed or unrealistic. My only complaint per say is that I wish Cole and Summer would’ve united a little sooner in the book so that we got to see more of them as a happy couple. I absolutely LOVED the ending to this book. I couldn’t have thought of a better one myself.
One thing I did really enjoy and didn’t expect was the surprise visit by Brad DeLuca. He is Cole’s divorce attorney in this book. As some may or may not know Brad comes from Alessandra’s Innocence Series. This is one I haven’t read yet but I look forward to reading all about Brad’s story. He fascinated me in this story, so his books I have a feeling are going to be good ones.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Alessandra’s, but I will let you know that from what I know this book is completely different from her other books. Just be aware of that going in. You also must like a slow burn type romance. Cole and Summer’s love story is slow going, but I truly think it is the way it was meant to be told. Anything different would’ve been unrealistic. So if you are looking for a story about a Hollywood Hunk and a Country Girl that is truly a feel good story, then look no further….this is the book to read!!!!
Never a dull moment with Alessandra’s books. Her characters are enjoyable and sexy. Fun, engaging and yes, there’s sexy sex…oh la la.
Well, after I had some time to think about my feelings for this book, watching the movie a day after finishing helped me clearing my mind.
Actually I am disappointed by both, the book and the movie.
This book has so many high ratings among my GR friends I wanted to know what this fuss is about. Specially after the movie announcement with passionflix. So I ordered the paperback and finally got to read it.
Even if I hadn’t known that this book is going to be a movie, I’m pretty sure I would felt the same after starting it: Instantly I felt distant to the characters. I almost quit after a few chapters, because I thought I was reading some kind of an alternated script.
Only due to it’s high ratings and the fact that I wanted to read this before watching the movie, I didn’t quit.
This is no bad book nor a bad story. But I didn’t feel it. I didn’t feel the connection between Summer and Cole, I didn’t feel the attraction. Neither did I feel Cole’s or Summer’s hurt about their past what made them both hesitant about letting real love in. The only thing that felt real to me was Brad DeLuca.
What I found most irritating, that the ending felt rushed. There were so many back and forth during the whole story, so many push and pull moments that I can hardly believe that only 24 hours without a fight will get this reaction out of a couple like the one of Cole and Summer. From 100 to 0 the feisty independent Summer, the girl with passion and the dream of getting out of Quincy living her life was gone. From 0 to 100 they became the dream couple of Hollywood without any obstacles.
Now a few things to the movie:
The characters felt as distant to me as the did in the book, for me they just didn’t connect. They just didn’t hit it off.
I pictured Summer totally different. I wished for a more natural Summer not one that already looked like she could be a movie star. Guess this was my main problem with the cast.
The setting was great
Best book I’ve read in a long time! I’ve re-read several times and always find something new to love.
