Holly’s Gift
Miracles don’t always come easy. Sometimes it takes a secret wish to light an angel’s way.
When Holly steps into a homeless shelter looking for an MIA piano student, she notices a distinct lack of Christmas cheer—because a handsome building inspector is forcing the shelter to temporarily close down.
Holly knows bad guys—she was married to one. Yet when the man asks her out, she finds absolutely not warring with absolutely yes.
Tim Stewart doesn’t hold his breath waiting for God to answer prayers. He went from homeless desperation to television stardom to relative obscurity while God stayed silent. But when Holly barrels into his life, her steady faith sparks hope for a dream of his own. Even if it means praying for a Christmas miracle—one last time.
Remembered sadness is the stepping stone to tomorrow’s joy.

This is an exceptional story of helping those less fortunate. Even though $1500 isn’t enough to fix the electrical problems at a homeless shelter, Holly finds a way to raise more money to meet the need. Then that need is met again by another person so the first money can do even more. I love this statement about the book: “Remembered sadness is the stepping stone to tomorrow’s joy”- something I need to remember for my own life. I was given the audible copy of this story. I will enjoy listening to it again & again. Would give it 10 stars if I could. This is my voluntary review.
(I have received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and have reviewed this with my own opinion!)
Holly’s Gift by Josie Rivera
I thought this was a beautiful story full of hope and redemption! It’s the Christmas season- which brings about an unexpected love match, past hurts, a gift from a friend, and a cause dear to their heart truly shows that anything can happen. A sweet and short story. But perfectly written to the point! I loved this!
Holly’s Gift by Josie Riviera is the 5th book in the Small – Town Christmas Wishes Series but it can very well be read as a standalone. Ms. Riviera wrote a wonderful heartwarming Christmas romance which drew me right in, making me forget everything else and did not let me go until I turned the last page. This story is very well written and will have you laughing at one time and crying at another. The characters are well developed and likeable. It is a very quick read I read it in one sitting. This is a great feel good story perfect for around the holidays.
I thought it was wonderful that even in death Holly’s friend Charity found a way to give back by bequeathing of money to her friends on the condition that they had to give it to someone else and that Holly found a purpose in her young piano student Jasmine and her struggling single mother and the place that they were currently calling home. Tim was cynical after the life he led and dealing with his selfish mother and father. He doesn’t trust easily. Holly also has trouble trusting after divorcing her cheating ex-husband. Tim and Holly go through their share of misunderstandings in their relationship. I loved that her aunt rehabilitated dogs. If I didn’t feel like I would get too attached and not be able to re home them, I would love to do that myself. This was a sweet Christian Christmas romance with themes of forgiveness and redemption.
Holly’s Gift is a short , engaging, well written, Christmas novella. I enjoyed this story. I liked the characters (well developed) and their story. This is one of six books in the series. The three I have read have all been excellent. This is a great story to read when you only have a little time and need a pick-me up!
An inspiring holiday story of love and faith!
It’s almost Christmas and Holly is still grieving the death of her best friend, Charity. Her divorce has left her determined to avoid relationships, at least for now, and she has thrown herself into her work as a piano teacher. Her most promising student, Jasmine, is from a poor single-parent family. When Jasmine misses several lessons in a row, Holly decides to visit the family to make sure they are all right and discovers that they are living in a homeless shelter. The shelter is being forced to close because of city code violations found by the city inspector, Timothy Stewart.
Although Holly is a Christian, her friend Charity was always her example of faith, even in death. Charity left each of her friends a check for $1500 to give someone a special Christmas like the ones they shared in their youth. Holly decides to enlist Tim Stewart’s help to try to save the shelter and find ways to raise the needed funds. Tim does not believe in God but he reluctantly admires Holly’s faith and definitely would like to get to know her better even though his better judgment tells him to avoid relationships.
This is a clean Christmas romance with a message of faith and hope. It is a feel-good story with a happy ending.
In the midst of grieving the death of her friend, Holly is trying to figure out how to best use the gift she left her. She meets Tim while searching for a piano student that’s missed some lessons. His story really pulled at my heartstrings. Loved the banter between the characters.
This is a wonderful inspirational Christmas story. This story will warm your heart, bring tears to your eyes and make you cheer. This book was a joy to read and it has two great sounding recipes at the end.
Another great one. I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are well developed and the interaction between them keeps you interested. Well worth getting this one.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
A lovely story set during the Christmas season about Holly Kim who has received a bequest with a termination date. Will God show Holly the way to deal with this?
A great story that deals with modern problems of Homeless Shelters that don’t have enough funding, single Moms trying to raise their children, gifted children in shelters and a determined divorcée who wants to make things better.
This short Christmas story is really good. I love the banter between the hero and heroine and the fun they have until he thinks something that is not what it he things and doesn’t talk to her about it to find out. It’s a good Christian inspirational Christmas story that has problems that exist to much in this world of homelessness and the goodness of adoption and the merriment of the season. Of course, it’s also about music and piano teacher. Christmas songs are needed at the holiday season, right? Like all of this author’s stories, this is another one I highly recommend you getting.
Holly’s Gift is just one of the stories in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The main character, Holly Kim, checks up on one of her students only to discover she’s living in a homeless shelter. This is a lovely story, certain to tug at your heartstrings.
What happens when someone is working against you, or so you think? You recruit them to help make a merry Christmas for a charitable cause. Holly wants to honor her deceased friends wishes and help a charity. When it is the homeless shelter and it is going to be shut down due to a electrical issue by handsome Tim the building inspector, Holly fights him tooth and nail. But she will find she was mistaken about his motives and by working together they can work a miracle and maybe some romance.
Sweet romance with all the feels. Heartwarming and at times heart wrenching. Love comes along when least expected or wanted. Excellent secondary characters also.
Holly and Tim work together as secret santas. I was glad that Holly realized that he was just doing his job and not his fault about the homeless shelter. A really sweet and romantic Christmas read.
Piano teacher, Holly, has received an inheritance of $1500.00 with the provision she has to use it to do something good. What would you do if you had this challenge? This is a wonderful story of what a caring heart can do with a bonus of being able to watch a heart change. This is a heartwarming story. I totally enjoyed it.
“Every moment matters”
This is a sweet Christmas romance with a message of faith and hope. It is a feel-good story with a happy ending. The true spirit of the holiday is displayed with acts of generosity, the spirits of giving and goodwill, as well as healing and love.
This was a sweet, clean, Christian Christmas romance. I thought the story had a ton of potential and I liked all of the aspects of it but it was missing that wow factor. I think it could have been better if it was a longer story and the Christian push was toned down a bit. I am a Christian myself, but the way it’s represented was a bit too strong and heavy handed and felt forced and sometimes out of place. I would have appreciated more time spent on the character development and growing. All in all, it was an enjoyable, quick read.
Holly’s Gift by Josie Riviera
This book starts out with a dedication and about the series.
Holly is a Korean born woman who tries to not only fix things but help others.
Holly Kim teaches piano and realizes there’s something wrong with one of the students as she’s late and has other excuses but she is able to track her down,at a homeless shelter.
She was there to find them, on a hunch, but runs into obstacles as the center is closing due to a deterioration that the electric is not up to code…
They must evacuate everyone. Story at this point follows the decision he has made as he tries to come to grips with it and the beautiful woman that’s wandered into his life.
Never read a book where female is from Korea and I like how determined she is, strong and brave all in one as she goes after what she knows needs to happen.
He invites her to the ice rink and would even hold her up and she learns many things about him. Love what the charm bracelet means to her and why.
Love hearing about all the outside winter activities. Like the passages were the Bible is mentioned and quoted and how it fits in with the story.
Love that her friend has left her money for charity, now she has a reason to use it.
Love hearing from both sides as you get the full picture.
Love how she teaches him about herself and love of God. She understands his position but know she will stick true to her faith and maybe he will slide on her side.
Bonus of a Christmas cookie recipe is included, OH YUM! Dedication and acknowledgments and about the author are also included with nightlights of her other works.
Excerpt is also included of another holiday book. Knowing some things about the author I love how they are brought out in this book.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
