“People like you don’t fall in love with people like me.”Meet Holly Hughes, a moderately successful teen advice columnist living in a studio apartment on the Upper East Side with her boyfriend Stephen. She has it all, but at the ripe age of thirty-one, she wants more. She wants to be married, she wants a family, and she’s going to have it all with Stephen. At least, that’s what she thought, until … least, that’s what she thought, until Stephen announces he’s gay, and the domino effect of unfortunate events begins. She soon finds herself unemployed, single, and living in her sister’s house on Long Island, working as her niece’s babysitter for less than minimum wage. She’s pretty certain she’s destined to live in the Land of Mediocrity forever.
And then, her niece runs face-first into a tall, handsome man at the bookstore.

Holly Freakin’ Hughes is an HFN title about acceptance, feeling good enough, and the reality that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

This is a very easy read if you are lookig to escape. Haven’t been able to put the book down. The plot keeps you intrigued that you want to read the next chapter. I have to force myself to put it down to sleep at night.
Interesting idea. Hated the first couple chapters, but warmed up to it more, but then ultimately it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Holly lives with her sister after her ex boyfriend tells her he’s gay. She is going along taking care of Anna and trying to keep it together. Holly meets Brandon at the bookstore after Anna runs into him. They become friends but really want each other. Brandon has been keeping a secret. Can Brandon and Holly be together? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended. Amazing Book
I enjoyed reading the book. It was a casual, easy read with an unpredictable ending.
Loved it!!
This has not been easy to get into as it goes through how the Fantasy author overcomes his jilting and Holly is living through her guy coming out. Hang in there. Worth it to get to their real meeting. A somewhat good case is made for them each being relationship shy. It drags us through her alternate guy … and then I just had a hard time believing her reaction to her extreme. Drags to resolving. But, it is good. Not the best sex scenes.
Skip it.
I liked the book. Was different, and was, at a point, hard to get back into, but would hold your attention until you were hooked again. Very interesting!
cute, funny read
Too much foul language.
was Just not able to finish at this time , the book lost me .it was predictable
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the strength of Brandon’s character. It was easy to immerse yourself into the book.
didn’t finish it,
Really cute.
After her worlds falls apart (cheating BF, losing her job and apartment) Holly is forced to move in with her sister and be her nanny to her niece, Anna. Holly feels like a giant failure and has decided to give up on dating for awhile because who would want to date a 31 year old babysitter. While at the book store for story time for Anna, Holly meets Brandon after an unfortunate accident with Anna. They are both instantly attracted to one another and meet a few additional times at the book store but Brandon (due to his own failed relationship) friend zones Holly. He doesn’t feel that he can have a relationship because of his career as a famous author and model (huh? this was just odd).
I had a hard time with this book not because it was poorly written because it was not but because about 85% or more of the book had them apart and I am not a fan of this. I would have to go back and check but there was only 3-4 chapters out of 36 that they were together. I like having my main characters together longer than that. I also would have enjoyed an epilogue getting a glimpse at their future. Also, both MCs were so depressing and down on themselves it was hard to handle at some points. While they both made me laugh and I did enjoy their interactions together I just wish that they weren’t so hard on themselves and depressing for the entire book. It was a very well written book just not my cup of tea.
Cute story set in an adorable small town with loveable, well-developed characters. A perfect summer read!
Even though this story was predictable and Holly was rather flighty, the story sucked me in and I smiled often while reading it.
easy read; entertaining; likeable characters
This was my first book by this author and I was impressed. It was a fun original read with sweet romance and some satisfyingly steamy connections. I have already started reading more by this writer. I’m impressed!
This was a really fun read. It’s entertaining and refreshing. The main character goes through a lot, and it’s handled well. I found myself relating to her from time to time. I look forward to reading the next work.
