Holiday Wishes is a novella that’s part of the Heartbreaker Bay series. It’ a sweet, funny and sexy second chance romance for two people who were each other’s first love. Sean and Lotti reunite in the most unexpected occasion. Sean never expected to find the girl who was his first love at the front desk of the B&B where his brother is having his joint bachelor/bachelorette getaway. But there she was, still with that smile and ignoring they knew each other? Charlotte aka Lotti is not having a good year, she gets dumped right in front of her first love how fitting! But Sean never forgot Lotti and Lotti apparently has issues because of Sean and so decided to have a do over. But can they say goodbye for the second time or can they go further than what they had that first time.
The Heartbreaker Bay series is one of my favorite series to date and the shorts between each full-length novel is a wonderful way to get my fill of the whole gang. Sean has been part of the series since the first book so for him to get his own story which is a great and realistic HFN is an early present for the holidays. Fans of the series will love Holiday Wishes while those who haven’t read any of the books will still definitely enjoy this one.
This was another great book in this series. I am enjoying reading about the characters in this series. I definitely recommend this book, this series and this author.
I’m so enjoying this Heartbreaker Bay series. It’s bachelor/bachelorette weekend for Finn & Pru. They all went to a charming B&B. It just happens that the gal, Lotti, who is running the place was someone from Sean’s wild teenage past. A bad storm keeps them there and Sean has Lotti help him get Finn & Pru married despite their predicament. While there Sean realizes he’s finally ready to settle down and Lotti is and always has been his happily ever after. But will Lotti feel the same way and give him a second chance? Each story is about love, family and even second chances. This novella was very well written. On to the next in the series.
I really liked this little novella, even thought there was a glaring error in the backstory for Sean and his brother Finn. But if you can just ignore that you’ll really enjoy Sean and Lotti’s story. Not only does Sean get the happiness he deserves but you get to see Finn and Pru get married, and that’s something that we’ve all been waiting for.
3.5 but I’ll bump to 4 because this series is just plain fun. Sean finally gets his own story! Over the course of the Heartbreaker Bay series, we’ve seen Sean go from the perpetual playboy/manwhore to a responsible adult and business partner. Now he’s the DD as the gang takes a weekend off in Napa Valley for Finn and Pru’s bachelor/bachelorette parties at a local B&B. The last thing he expects when he walks in the front door is to be confronted with his past. His high school past, no less. His one regret… This is a very quick, second chance story. It’s sweet, has a little conflict, and flies by. You can easily read this one in an afternoon or less. Bonus? You also get to catch up with the latest on the rest of the gang. This group of characters is one you’ll love getting to know.
“It’s Christmastime again in Heartbreaker Bay!”
This is the story of Lotti Harford and Sean O’Riley.
Sean is at the Hartford Bed and Breakfast. He has come for his older brother’s bachelor weekend. He hopes things go okay and he just makes it through. He has no idea he will come face to face with the very woman he lost his virginity to ten years ago. He has no idea that Lotti is the inkeeper of the B&B.
Lotti saw Sean ten years ago. She told him she loved him after spending her first intimate moment with him. He ended up not saying anything back. She sees Sean as an opportunity for a good time. Lotti wants to be wild and free and unlike her usual self. Sean was the good-time guy, but Lotti doesn’t realize she is the woman he hasn’t gotten over.
As the weekend progresses, Sean realizes he doesn’t want to be the hook up guy, but he wants his happily-ever-after. And he wants it with Lotti. He is not sure she would open herself up to him again after he handled their prior time so poorly afterwards.
Christmas is sweeping through the little B&B and Sean hopes that a little bit of magic is in the cards for him and Lotti.
This was a fun & romantic story. I enjoyed their seeing each other after 10 years. I enjoyed seeing what Sean would go through to prove that Lotti means more to him than she realizes.
Short and sweet second chance romance with an old B&B, a wedding, a crazy storm and a second chance at a love that has not been forgotten. Happily ever after guaranteed!
The Heartbreaker Bay series is too good to miss!
I absolutely loved this story. Sean and Lotti are so good together…again. I especially liked how their past is addressed and they each take ownership of their actions and forge a path forward.
Honestly, I am so anxious for the next book because Jill Shalvis hits it out of the park every time!
Short and sweet second chance romance at Christmas time. I don’t know this series so I’ll go read them when I get a chance. Snowed in ready to attend a wedding finds two high school sweethearts grown up and thrown together. Is the chemistry still there? Will they make it this time? I really enjoyed this story and wished it were longer.

Another top go-to author for contemporary romance. Love her style!
LOVE this author; she just makes me laugh
cute but preditable
I’ve read over 40 of Jill Shalvis’ book. This one just didn’t do it for me. Just something lacking.
If you’re looking for a warm, soothing read this Christmas season, then Holiday Wishes by Jill Shalvis is the book for you! Huge 5 Stars! Shalvis writing is truly magical and impeccable. She can weave a tale of such passion and deep romance. We first meet Sean O’Reilly shows up for his brother’s bachelor party, he’s just wanting to have a nice weekend and get this all over with. However, he unexpectedly runs into an old fling, Lottie Hartford. She was always the shy, good girl; however, she’s now ready to just throw caution to the wind and just give into her primal instincts and she thinks that Sean is the first person to turn to. Once known for his wild ways, Sean no longer wants to live that life, he’s ready to find a nice woman, marry, have a family and live a good life. He’s got his eye on Lottie, but not for her body, this time for her heart.
I absolutely loved both Sean and Lottie, both inside are deeply romantic individuals and Lottie is just in a funk but it’s Sean who seeps slowly into her heart and her vibrant personality begins to shine and come alive again. I also love the transition with Sean, once the wild child, he’s now awakened to his passionate and romantic side and what better season to reveal that and let love shine, than at Christmas. Truly a wonderful tale that you’ll want to add to your Christmas list!
I love everything Jill Shalvis writes. Her character development is so good the reader is immediately drawn into the story. I find her books difficult to put down you become so invested in the heroine….page turners!
4 star review of Holiday Wishes (Heartbreaker Bay #4.5) by Jill Shalvis
What’s not to love? It’s the most magical time of the year and also happens to be my most favourite holiday. I love any story that is centred on Christmas; it’s a time for family and friends to get together.
I would say if you haven’t read the other books in the Heartbreaker Bay series I would do so prior to reading Holiday Wishes, but that is just my opinion.
This is a Christmas Novella from the Heartbreaker Bay series and a quick read which will get you in to the mood for the holiday season. Holiday wishes is a heart warming second chance at love story.
When Sean returns home for his older brother’s bachelor party all he wants is to survive the weekend. He has become tired of his casual hookups and is learning that he may well want to settle down. Imagine his shock when he sees Lotti, the women who told him 10 years ago that she loved him but who now wants to hook up for a night or two with no strings attached; how the tables have turned.
Can the magic of Christmas bring Sean and Lotti together? Or will they be destined to pass in the night ?
You can never go wrong reading a Jill Shalvis book.
Ten years ago Sean O’Riley and Lotti Hartford shared a blissful night of passion, then she made her feelings for him known, and Sean didn’t utter a word, leaving things awkward between them. Which ultimately caused them to part, a Sean has regretted it everyday since. Now he finds himself standing before her, and watching her heartbreak all over again, only this time he isn’t the one doing the breaking, and he wants nothing more to be the shoulder she needs right now… but she doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge his existence. What is a guy to do?
Lottie Hartford is done with relationships, feelings and anything of the sort, she is tired of going all in only to have her heart broke in the end. So she decides it’s time to abandoned her good girl ways, and become the girl who walks on the wild side, and only does strings free when it comes to men. And she has her eye on the perfect playboy to help her embrace her new lifestyle… but the playboy is ready to change his ways and become a one woman kind of man!
Holiday Wishes is a funny, uplifting, charming little novella that’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit!! Lottie and Sean had once found love, but then timing wasn’t right and they parted ways, now they find themselves reunited, each wanting different things, and love once again coming into play. This was such a fun read, watching these two maneuver through feelings and their complicated past, and finding a way to come out on the other side of it happy and together. The story line was filled with moments that warmed my heart, moments that had me giggling out loud, and moments that had me saying “oh,my”. I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, Ms. Shalvis’s endearing characters are sure to treat you to a memorable and blissful literary escape!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
Holiday Wishes by Jill Shalvis
Heartbreaker Bay #4.5
This was a wonderful second chance at romance novella that I could not put down. It made me smile, care, hope and feel. I was entertained and hopeful as Sean and Lotti met up again, their back story was shared and the possibility of their finding a HEA together was explored. The setting at her B&B where Finn and Pru were staying with their wedding party was perfect and so was the camaraderie and pulling together of the wedding party to make the wedding extra special. Sean was oh so romantic, Lotti was a hoot if a bit reserved at first and the dialogue perfect. I love this series, this story and the author that creates such wonderful stories!
Thank you to Harper Collins who bequeathed me a copy of this novella through Edelweiss – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Love never goes according to plan. People grow up, drift apart and all that remains is a broken heart. What happens when the one that got away, decides to come back to stay? Trouble! Holiday Wishes is tearfully funny, emotionally stunning and hard to resist like the sweetest of honey. For Sean and Lotti, what if, becomes why me. Ms. Shalvis pulls out the charm on a sleigh ride to happily ever after. Dashing through the snow is an entertaining delight, when the hunks of Heartbreaker Bay are along for the ride.
