Monica McHenry needs a break from real life. So what if it happens to be the third week of December, and she’s used to big Christmas celebrations with family and friends? She needs time away from everyone, including her family, her best friend, and most importantly, the dark memories and the horrible feelings of guilt that have plagued her since last July.A week in a remote, winter cabin sounds … cabin sounds like the perfect escape. She’s looking forward to some solitude, to some silence, and yes, to the lack of holiday cheer. How could she possibly be excited for Christmas after the way her world shattered in July?
The cabin is everything she’d hoped for. She’s all but snowed in, and she has nothing but time on her hands to fight and hopefully defeat her emotional demons. Except the pesky, hot neighbor won’t leave her alone.
Creed Jackson isn’t happy that a woman is holed up alone in a remote cabin, especially Monica, who’s on the road to a physical recovery after a tragic accident. From the moment she arrives, Creed is in the shadows doing things to help her out: plowing the long, unpaved driveway, delivering her an (unwanted) Christmas tree, and then having the nerve to share his family decorations with her.
Though Monica wants to hide everything, including her true identity, from Creed, she finds that she likes his company. Sure, he’s easy on the eyes, but he’s also easy to talk to, and his observations about her life and the darkness she’s running from actually make sense.
With July in her rearview mirror, Monica knows the last thing she needs is instalove. But maybe a holiday fling wouldn’t hurt anything, right? At least not until it’s time to say goodbye and go back to the real world.

It is heartbreaking what Monica had been through because that would be tough on anybody. But what Creed did as kindness and out of concern threat grew to falling in love. Christmas time is a magical time but it the compassion and care one can show another that builds memories and love.

Monica McHenry is struggling to rebuild her life after surviving a horrible accident. Facing the joyousness of the Christmas holiday is more than she can handle, so she seeks refuge at a friend’s cabin deep in the snowy woods, far away from overly helpful family and friends. The cabin is cozy and blessedly secluded. And fully equipped with a next-door neighbor, Creed Jackson, who’s thoughtful, kind, and extremely good-looking. Creed’s attentiveness is exactly what Monica needs to heal the emotional wounds of the past several months. Unfortunately, walking away from Creed is going to leave a fresh new hole in Monica’s already tender heart. A holiday fling isn’t supposed to hurt this much, is it?
Tracy Broemmer’s book, Holiday Fling, is told exclusively from the heroine’s perspective so the reader understands the heartache Monica is going through. And like the heroine, the reader is left to question Creed’s behavior, motives, and his choice to live such a solitary existence—not to mention, his level of interest in Monica. I found the characters to be well developed, and I easily related to Monica’s plight and her desire to rehab in private. And I think Creed Jackson is definitely sexy enough to make a gal forget all her worries every time he knocks on her cabin door.
Holiday Fling is a stand-alone novel by Tracy Broemmer not to be missed!

Monica is still struggling emotionally as well as physically from an accident she had 5 months ago & has decided to retreat to a friend’s cabin for a few days to recover, her friend is worried about her but agrees to let her stay on her own. Her hope of being alone are disrupted when Creed, a handsome neighbour Insists on spending time & helping her when he sees that she is by herself. Even though she politely tells him she wants to be alone he gets her a tree & make extra visits to see her. Despite everything she finds herself becoming attracted to him but worries that he is not interested in her because of the way her ex fiance a well known baseball player cheated & left her after the accident & because of her Scars but he doesn’t think he is good enough for her either. Given their different lives could this turn into something more than just a holiday romance.. I loved this book & couldn’t put it down.
The story of Monica and Creed is heartwarming. The characters are interesting and likable, the plot refreshing. It was a wonderful read.

Monica is wanting to just get away from life for a bit and be alone. The perfect place seems to be a friends cabin where she can be alone even if it is Christmas time. The handsome neighbor Creed is doing what he can do to help her even when she doesn’t expect it. Will she let her emotions and feelings give way so she can have happiness? For an author who mentions she just dabbles in contemporary romance, she’s pretty good at just dabbling in it.

Monica is still recovering from an accident that has completely changed her life – not just the physical injuries that are potentially career-ending, but the emotional trauma of her fiance ending their relationship, and knowing that a little girl died in the accident. She’s not much in the Christmas spirit, so she borrows a cabin in the country for some alone time. The neighbor, Creed, is a super nice guy, and easy on the eyes. They become friends, and the relationship becomes physical as well. She feels comfortable with him, and is finally able to talk about what happened. After a couple of weeks, she heads home to try to pick up the pieces of her life, thinking that this was just a holiday fling to him. This was a wonderful heart-warming story – the characters were so attuned to each other – I spent the book just hoping they’d end up together. This is the second book by this author that I’ve read recently, and I’m looking forward to more.

This is a well written book with strong characters in Monica and Creed who have an instant hot chemistry. The author does a great job developing both the characters and story line. She brings an interesting story with Monica wanting peace and quiet after a terrible accident and Creed being the man who tempts her and helps give her what she needs. It’s a heartfelt story of forgiving and accepting ones self , starting over and finding love. It’s an emotional story, moves fluidly and I enjoyed reading.

Monica suffers a horrific situation so she just can’t find any feelings for the upcoming Christmas holiday so she goes to a friends cabin for some peace and solitude but the next door neighbor Creed is always there to help her out even when she isn’t expecting it. Loved this emotional story and Creed was just the perfect guy if Monica would just open her eyes and her heart.

The cover of this book might make you think that this is a Hallmark-style holiday romance. While this book does have some elements of those sweet and relatively fluffy romances, the substance of this book goes much deeper. At the start of the book, the heroine is struggling on several levels, physically and mentally. The author has done an excellent job showing how a woman who had been through what the heroine had would feel and how that would affect her thinking about herself and the world around her. Given what has happened, I can understand the heroine’s desire to pull away from what she’s known and retreat for the holidays. I found it interesting, too, that the author chose to stick to just the perspective of the heroine. Most of the romances I read alternate viewpoint between the hero and heroine. What this limitation does here is really force us to see the world through the heroine’s eyes. We don’t know the hero’s motivations any more than she does. Like her, we can only surmise. I did find myself wondering why he did what he sometimes did. The chemistry between the two characters was off the charts. The story had all the elements that I like in a romance: a relatable heroine, a wonderful hero, good interactions between them, and a little something more than just the romance at stake. If you enjoy heartfelt contemporary holiday romance, you might enjoy this book.
