Book 3 in this series, still going strong. I loved book 3 (Sebastian and Harper) but Josh and Jesse are a very close second!
J&J have a very hot encounter in Las Vegas and afterwards both are looking for each other in New York. Josh because he cannot forget the beautiful redhead, Jesse because she is pregnant… and when they see each other again (Fate must have intervened) their story takes off. I loved Josh. What an amazing guy he is. He did such sweet things! The clothes shopping… (sigh)
Jesse is a harder nut to crack. She is a cop (although we don’t really see her in action, but she is mentioned to be badass) and doesn’t want a relationship based on the fact she is pregnant. Of course we meet up with other characters we know from the earlier books (Ohh.. gimme more Seb and Harper… please) but J&J are center stage and we only get some glimpses.
Overall I loved the book and read in on a cozy Friday evening in one sitting. I am curious as to who will star in the next book (if there is one). Dylan seems obvious, but Jesse has some hot cop brothers I would like to read about so…. yes… Billionaires are fine, but cops are my thing you know. (2019)
Jesse is a cop and while in Vegas, she’s promised her best friend that she’ll have a one night stand. Joshua Hastings fits the bill, he’s funny and he holds up to his promises. But she sneaks out in the middle of the night not even giving him her name. As each month passes, Joshua can’t get the stranger out of his head, after hours of talking, he knows there will be no other woman for him. So when the two finally run into each other, he wants his chance. But Jesse is singularly focused on her career, she wants to make detective and earn it in a department run by her father. She has no time for Joshua, no matter how charming he is.
I loved Joshua, he was fun, his devotion to Jesse was endearing, and despite a playboy lifestyle in the past, he has turned his life around and is a good guy. Jesse on the other hand sometimes got on my nerves. She overreacts to situations without speaking to Joshua, time and again. She has it in her head of what she thinks he is and doesn’t give him a chance, too many times to count. And don’t get me started on her “best-friend Ross” because I saw his slimy ways well before it was noted by virtually everyone that knew them. But you know what? Ashton wrote Ross so well, and I love it when an author can make me hate a bad guy.
Ashton always writes such incredibly sexy scenes with wonderful characters. I loved Jesse and Joshua together because when it was good with them, it was really good. This is such a fun series, one of my favorites this year. Each book can be read alone, but the characters from other books make appearances. I love this family and this world Ashton has created and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
Another in this series of books that I loved. I was half in love with Josh from the beginning but I have to admit I had a hard time warming up to Jesse. Overall a great story though. Looking forward to Grace’s story next.
3.5 Stars
Overall, I really liked this book. The beginning I really loved- a one-night stand in Vegas followed by surprise pregnancy. The chemistry was obvious between Josh and Jesse. The middle I liked a lot- I loved the commitment that Josh showed toward the baby right away. I liked the strength that Jesse had as well. The end was just okay for me. I found myself rushing and my care for the characters began to wane by this point. As a whole, however, I did enjoy Holding Out For Hope. I will certainly be on the lookout for more from Gabrielle Ashton.
