This is the perfect continuation (and Happy Ending ;)) to Izzy and Chase’s love story. It’s a universally known fact that sequels are hard to pull off, but Ms. Ho has definitely managed to do it. My, if I thought the first part was good, this installment blew my mind away. In this novella, we find Izzy and Chase just days (OK, weeks, but you get the idea) away from their wedding. How exciting, right?! Well, it would be, except for the fact that in order to get there they’ll have to overcome some really tough (and can you say unexpected) obstacles, while also (re-)learning to communicate as a couple and, most importantly, trust the feelings they have for each other and rely on one another in order to overcome their fears and insecurities.
I won’t be giving away any more details for fear of ruining someone else’s experience (it’s such a short story), but it’s so enjoyable, funny, honest and raw at times, but altogether beautiful that it’s highly recommended. From the books I’ve read so far, this is Ms. Ho at her best. 5 stars!
PS: I almost started this book before having read Chasing Romance but I’m so grateful that I didn’t. Read this series in order. It definitely makes for a wholesome experience.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really liked this sweet sequel
This is not a standalone. It’s a sequel, so you have to read Chasing Romance first! This novella is a bit like an extended epilogue. At the end of the previous book it looked like they had their HEA, but insecurities on both sides are getting in the way. There’s trouble in paradise. A few little hiccups.
Izzy (or should I say Bella?) is insecure; with everything that’s going on in Chase’s life, will she be enough for him?
Chase is insecure; Izzy’s ex turns up and he gets a bit jealous…
Normally I’m not into sequels like this. I mean, we already did the ‘they meet, fall in love, and get their HEA’ bit. But I liked the previous book and got curious. And I really liked it! It was different. Nice, pleasant, easy-to-read.
Love Can Defy All Odds
This is a sweet and cozy romance. The story involves a couple from a prior book, yet stands alone with no problem. This is a novella length romance that takes place at Christmas time. The plot is fun, well done and expected. As with all things, the outcome may be predictable, but the journey to the end was all of the fun. All of the characters are quite believable and well developed. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.
Izzy Sutton is supposed to marry music sensation Chase Lockhart on Christmas Eve. But she’s filled with insecurities. He’s 12 years younger than her and he’s comfortable with the spotlight while she’s not, what if she’s not enough for him. She had to deal with her daughter Gracie’s father leaving her years ago and coming back into her life again recently drunk and unemployed. She runs her B&B in Romance and writes songs under a pen name to support herself and her daughter, so it must be hard to let someone in after doing it all by herself all this time. Chase can be a bit immature at times and but he does love Izzy. There were a lot of challenges to overcome in this story to arrive at their HEA.
I was delighted to get an update on Chase and Izzy. I loved the story where Izzy, the unknown songwriter and B&B owner, met and fell in love with a younger Chase, the celebrity cowboy singer. In Holding Onto Love in Romance it is two weeks until their December wedding. Issy’s busy with last minute wedding details and Chase is leaving for an Australian tour. These characters are just as charismatic as they were in the first story. Izzy’s ex is back. He has relapsed and all the treatment centers are full. Chase is half a continent away. The path to true love is never a straight easy one. Come see what fate has in store for this couple. I enjoyed this story as much as the original one.
Holding on to Love in Romance by Linden Ho is a fast sweet, charming and heartwarming sequel Chase Lockheart and Issy Sutton from Chasing Romance. You do not have to have read Chasing Romance to enjoy this novella. Chase Lockheart a song writer and singer, beloved by millions of fans. Issy Sutton is a Mom, to Gracie, a inn owner and song writer. There is a age difference that plays on Issy insecurities. Because Issy is older then Chase. Add in a ex-husband with a drinking problem and when he sees a way to make a fast dollar, takes it and a groom to be that has to be in Australia until right before the wedding it going to be a bumpy ride for Chase and Issy. But, this is Romance and love always wins out in Romance.
This is such a great continuation/conclusion to Chase and Izzy’s story. He is such a great guy and so in love with his bride to be. I really liked how they worked through the events that came into their lives while waiting for the wedding day. Life happens and how we deal with it or really Who we rely upon/turn to makes all the difference.
