Appearances mean everything to them, and I’m a continuous disappointment. They told me I’d be out on my ass if I fell off the wagon, so keeping it a secret is my number one priority.
Until the super-hot all-star QB takes more than a passing interest in me. Adam gets me, in a way no guy ever has, filling my head with ideas of forever—and now, I want more.

I was surprised by Holding On To Forever. I was a little hesitant to read a book where the main characters were a drug dealer and his client. Those exactly aren’t my favorite books to read. But, as soon as I started reading Holding On To Forever, my doubts about the book were erased.
Holding On To Forever was a compelling and heartbreaking read. The dual plotlines follow Adam and Emily as they battle their demons. The author portrayal of an addict is heartbreaking and realistic. The book shows the struggle an addict goes through to stay clean and the relapses that happen. Adam turning to dealing drugs is also a heartbreaking situation.
I liked Adam, and I sympathized with him, to a point. He went back to dealing drugs because it was fast money. He needed that money to get his sister’s vest fixed, to pay her hospital bills, and to keep a roof over his mother’s head. But I agreed with Sam when he found out. Why not get a regular job? Again, it comes back to the fast money. I will admit that I didn’t see the appeal of Emily at first. But, the more I read his part of the book, I figured out that he wanted to save her from herself. Plus, he loved her.
Emily had my full sympathy for the entire book. She had been through so much since she was 15. Even before, now that I think about it. Her mother didn’t like her and didn’t want her. Her father was super distracted. She turned to Molly and other drugs to drown out the pain. It was so sad to read those parts of her story. To top it off, she was blackmailed by this scuzz bag who had a video of her in an orgy while high. He was blackmailing her into doing sexual favors for him and his frat brothers. I didn’t blame her for wanting to forget about it all. I do think that Adam was right for her. But even he couldn’t help her with her demons. And what demons they were. I did guess the truth about what happened to her but to read it, broke my heart. That is something that no one should carry around with her.
I couldn’t stand Emily’s mother. To put it this way, I wanted to reach through the book and throttle her. All she cared about was her image. So when certain things happened to her at the end of the book, I wasn’t upset. I did a fist pump.
I was on the fence about Emily’s father. He was a distracted mess the first half of the book. I couldn’t understand why he didn’t want to leave that witch he was married too. He did redeem himself when he went ballistic on Adam and then hunted Emily down. That scene and the scene afterward broke my heart.
The author did a fantastic job of portraying how a drug addict thinks. I have a brother who is a heroin addict, and Emily mirrored his behaviors. There were times where I had tears in my eyes because of realistic her behavior was. Even the behavior of Scar and Zach were realistic.
I do want to mention that there are situations where sexual assault was described. The author didn’t hold back any punches when it came to them. I usually don’t get triggered by stuff like that, but I was a little taken aback. So, a warning if anyone is triggered.
The end of the book was terrific. All I have to say is that justice was served with Emily’s mother. Her father also came through for her big time. The epilogues (there are two) were terrific. I loved reading them!! I also liked the author’s note afterward.
Holding on to Forever is ; Wow Just Wow!!! Such a good story of pain betrayal and redemption!!
You will love these authors and their book.
Let’s start out by saying I loved these two authors together. I was hooked from the beginning. I like how it dealt with real life problems. There was some tough things for the characters to deal with and it was written amazingly. You really feel for these people and that is hard to do in a book with these things going on. There’s he perfect amount of mystery and angst. I would totally recommend this book
Holding Onto Forever is a wildly intense book that deals with an abundance of real life issues. It does it in a way that makes it easy to relate to Emily and Adam. Now I am not saying that I agree or condone some of their choices but I do understand them.
Adam will do anything to protect his family and giving up his dreams is just another thing he is willing to sacrifice. Emily wants to forget the prison that is her life. Family is foreign to her and she escapes the only way she knows how.
These two have attraction they can’t deny but life is messy…will they ever get a real chance?
This is a book that I definitely recommend but beware, it is not all sunshine and rainbows, you are going to go through the ringer for this HEA!
Another amazing read.. I’ve read quite a few of Siobhan’s books, but SB Alexander is new to me.
This is quite the book.. there are probably some triggers in this that may cause some to not want to read or take caution when reading… this book does touch on some drug and assault issues.. but with that said..
“Getting involved with my drug dealer is a mistake, and he’s a football player too, which is a double no.”
Adam isn’t just your typical college Football Star.. he is the starting QB and he is damn good at it, but he is also a very down to earth and good guy.. He has had some dark times in his past and he vows not to ever go down that path again.. he is doing what he needs to in order to help is mama and sister out. When his mama looses her job and health insurance that goes with it.. the medical bills start to pile up.. See Adams little sister has a serious medical condition.. Adam has no choice but to revisit his past.. This is where he meets Emily..
Emily has been using drugs as an escape from her dark reality. She has a dark past that she has not told a sole about.. But because of who her family is she has to try and keep it in check and make sure she can keep her habit under cover. But when Emily meets her new dealer, both are stunned at the connection they have.
Both Emily and Adam what changes but when dark Emily’s past and Adams sisters medical condition are at the forefront what are they to do.? Will they both come out unscathed? Will this be the end for them both?
This was a very emotional read.. I am glad neither of these authors shied away from the trigger or taboo that was in this book… Thank you for the amazing read!!
This book hits so many different topics, but not in a bad way. It shows what some people are willing to do for their families. Then it shows you the opposite and what some turn to, to hide the pain, and shame. It also walks you through parts of recovery from both parties. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to be read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
The most heartbreaking and emotional story I have ever read.
Its is so raw, realistic and will have you emotionally drained as you root for Em and Adam to come out the other side.
Adam has a lot riding on good behaviour but has to make hard decisions for his family’s best interest and its gut wrenching. While Em has been dealt a pathetic excuse of a mother.
Em statement “I guess you never know what someone is dealing with behind closed doors.” Is so spot on and reminded me to be mindful of people and never judge harshly.
Shocking revelations at the end that will have you gobsmacked.
Adam and Emily’s story is wonderfully written. You will become immersed in intrigue, abuse, love and of course family. I was on pins and needles wondering what was going to happen next.
Adam is the quarterback on the school football team. Emily is the coach’s daughter and he has stipulated that his players are off limits. But the sparks between these two are out of control and they hide their love. Emily’s mother and father don’t involve themselves much in her life and she is spiralling out of control. She has a deep dark secret that she hasn’t told anybody. Drugs. Lies. Deceit. S..e..x. Orgies. A hidden affair or two? This book was as good as everything else that Siobhan Davis writes. What a wonderful collaboration- fantastic book.
5 Gut Wrenching Stars
This is a gut wrenchingly heartbreaking tale of addiction and how it affects those around you. I loved this story and the journey it takes you on. At times the story is difficult to read and so very emotional, but it is such a necessary read. Especially if you’ve ever known anyone battling some form of addiction.
Adam was not the typical College athlete. He’s so much more than the usual cocky alpha. He’s genuine and kind and will give you all the swoony feels. He’s all about his family and holds them above everyone else. When he must step up and help them, he does so without regard to what it could do to his future. Gah he was so amazing you can’t help but fall in love with him.
Emily has been using drugs as a crutch so that she can escape her reality. However, her family is big on appearances, so her drug problems have flown under the radar. As her world slowly starts to unravel, she spends more and more time high instead of sober. Everything seems to be spiraling until she meets her new drug dealer Adam. When they meet their connection is instant and undeniable.
I love them together they both have some choices they must make and so many obstacles to overcome. But they are there for each other, their connection is strong. I don’t want to give too much away because this journey is one that you need to take blind. But this collaboration between these two amazing authors was absolute perfection. You will not be disappointed. Read this story and fall in love with these characters and their heartbreaking journey to the future they both deserve.
I’ve read a lot of books written by Siobhan Davis; she has done an excellent job at writing another good book. She is one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.
I received a free copy of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
The minute I heard that Siobhan Davis and S.B. Alexander had an angsty NA romance coming I knew I had to read it. Emily and Adam’s story was a huge angsty trip! It was sexy and engaging but also dealt with some pretty serious topics including drug addiction and sexual abuse. I was hooked from the start and did not look up once!
Without giving away and spoilers, just know this story is so addicting and will make your head spin. Adam, a college quarterback and NFL prospect is in a difficult position as he is forced to sell drugs to support his family. But when he crosses paths with Emily, his coach’s daughter (and customer!!), the connection between them explodes.
Ahh!! This story is one huge adrenaline rush. So many things happened at once and I honestly had to catch my breath. Adam was delicious and I loved his connection to Emily. It was wrong but so genuine and exciting. I also loved the jaw dropping moments and the fact that the strong emotional ties they had between them could be felt off the pages! 4 stars! ~Ratula
Welcome to the dark side. Holding on to Forever kept me at the edge of my seat from start to finish. I held my breath waiting for the ball to drop every time things seemed to go their way. Life doesn’t always play fair!
Adam puts his football scholarship on the line when his mom looses her job and his sisters medical bills are piling up. He knows selling drugs may not be the best way to handle it but what other choice does he have when he needs cash fast? He figures selling them years ago to make ends meet gives him an advantage this time around.
Meeting Emily was something he hadn’t planned on. The moment they met he knew she would be his downfall. What did he think would happen when she was his coach’s daughter’s drug dealer?? Yeah, what could go wrong there?
Wow! The writing flowed beautifully! They were such an amazing couple and I absolutely love how they portrayed Adam. He didn’t give up on her when times got tough! Sometime love isn’t enough but other times when you have an entire support system, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Holding on to Forever was amazing! This was written by two great authors that write well together! This was an emotional read showing the life struggles between two college kids. Having different lifestyles but coming together to help each other and finding love. I absolutely loved this story and the characters! I highly recommend this book!!!
Another cracking YA/NA romance from Siobhan Davis.
The main characters, Emily and Adam, have their own struggles – which puts them on opposite sides of the same problem. They’re insanely attracted to each other, but they are enabling each other’s problem.
It’s good to read characters that have flaws and don’t handle life in a noble way. Anyone is only one decision away from a slippery slope.
The author handles the storyline exceedingly well, navigating the problems and resolving them in a natural, realistic way. The HEA epilogue is the fairytale, of course, but the road to it is gritty and real.
This is a brilliant stand-alone story that I devoured and would readily recommend.
There is no greater hurt in the world than the dark hold we live in when we don’t have anyone to help guide us or shall it with. Whether it is physical pain or mental pain from abuse drugs, or sexual abuse finding help will benefit everyone. Adam and Emily gave a new meaning to unconditional love. Every time I pick up one Siobhan Davis books I am left speechless from the powerful words that she brings to life. This story is no exception it left me floored.

I have been waiting to read this book after seeing what it was going to be about. These characters have been through a lot and are trying to make a better life for themselves.
Emily was a hard character to like at first until you understand why. She is smart but doesn’t always make the best decisions. Adam is the quarterback at his college and isn’t your typical jock.
All the characters in this book have you turning the pages as fast as you can. This book touched on some hard subjects and had you pulling for the characters. Get ready for a bumpy ride. These authors gave us a story you don’t want to miss.
‘Holding On To Forever’ is an absolutely phenomenal book, emotional rollercoaster, amazing and heartbreaking.
Pick your poison . Good choices, better one and so wrong..
It’s page turner. This book touches on some very difficult topics and is not written for delicate hearts.
What a great journey. Unexpected ,unpredictable. Great characters with chemistry of the charts and secrets that will keep you guessing.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book
This book is very angsty. Emily and Adam both have a lot going on in their lives. Adam has to turn back to his drug dealing ways to make money to help his sick sister and mom. Emily is the coach’s daughter and client and is off limits. Their story is a rush of emotion that you can’t help but be pulled into. There is some tough subject matter in this story too. These two authors did an amazing job on this story.
This book was not at all what I was expecting. Such a tragic but beautiful love story!
