Don’t miss this emotional second chance romance!!! I loved it, and you will, too!
What do you do when you run into the man who fathered your child and he has no idea? This is what happened to Phoebe, you see her and Jake were in the same foster home together and after being together he ended up being kicked out. Pregnant at sixteen Phoebe asked her newly found Aunt who had taken her in to help find Jake but to no avail. As we jumped forward Phoebe is helping a friend get her house ready to be sold taking care of the contractors to make sure things get done and in a timely manner. When she goes to meet the head guy it ends up being Jake and she doesn’t know whether to stay and tell him or run. Follow along as Phoebe tries to figure out if there is something still between them, how to introduce her son to a father he has never known, and how to deal with an ex-wife who just doesn’t want to let go. This was an emotional ride the whole way through but one that I would happily take again.
A sexy secret baby, second chance romance from Carly Phillips? Yes, please!
The second book in the Rosewood Bay Series and what a series this is turning out to be.
Jake Nichols has turned his life around from a troubled teenager in the care system to a successful contractor but now he finds himself juggling life as a divorce and father of a adorable daughter. When Jake shows up to price up his next job the last person he expects to see is Phoebe Ward the girl he loved and lost as a teenager. Phoebe Ward is now a successful real estate agent who is looking after a makeover on a friends house and she sure didn’t expect Jake to be the contractor but that’s not the only problem here because Phoebe is also a single parent and now she has come face to face of the father of her child, she tried to track Jake down when she found out she as pregnant but it wasn’t meant to be. Has fate given these two teenage lovers another chance at love ……
This book has it all, a great storyline, characters you can relate to, it’s passionate, it’s sad and it’s fun and what’s better than a second chance at love and single parents making love and family work.
Excellent read from the very talented Carly Phillips
Growing up in the foster care system wasn’t an ideal situation for Phoebe Ward but it was the hand she was dealt so she tried her damnedest to make the best of it, and she gained more from it than she anticipated. Not only did it help to make her a tougher person, but it also brought love to her life, a love she had never experienced before, and has never been able to find since. When she met Jake Nichols she instantly knew there was something special between them, and before long that instant connection brought about some serious feelings and a unexpected pregnancy, and she was certain they’d have the family they’d always dreamed of, and be together forever… but at sixteen can you really you know everything?
There hasn’t been a day that has passed that Jake Nichols hasn’t thought about the girl who stole his young heart, back then Phoebe meant everything to him. She was the bright spot in his dim world, they had an amazing connection, loved one another deeply, but then she disappeared from his life and left him a broken young man. One who found trouble, did a stint in prison, and had a life he never saw for himself, but luckily for him he was given a second chance, and he has worked hard to put that horrible past of his behind him. He’s now a successful general contractor, a father, and has just about everything he could possibly want… except love. But that is about to change, as Phoebe unexpectedly wanders back in to his life!
Breathe is a touching reunion story that promises to warm the heart, and renew your faith in second chances! This wonderfully crafted tale pulled me in from the first page, reunited me with some old friends, and brought along a few new ones for me to fall for too, and they took me on one heck of a journey! It was such a uplifting story, it spoke to my heart, made me swoon, and came with a little drama to keep me on my toes too! I highly recommend you check out this new heartwarming series from Ms. Phillips, it will lift your spirits, speak to your heart, and curl your toes!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
BREATHE is the second instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult ROSEWOOD BAY erotic, romance series focusing on the Ward sisters. This is real estate agent Phoebe Ward, and general contractor Jake Nichols’ story line. BREATHE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Jake and Phoebe) BREATHE is a second chance / secret baby romance that follows the rekindling romance and relationship between real estate agent Phoebe Ward, and general contractor Jake Nichols. Growing up in foster care our leading couple became best friends early on but at sixteen years of age Phoebe’s Aunt Joy found our story line heroine offering a permanent home and a happily ever after but what neither one knew was that Phoebe was pregnant, and the father was currently no where to be found. Fast forward to present day wherein Phoebe will come face to face with her past, and the man with whom she is still in love. Enter general contractor Jake Nichols, divorced father of one, and the man who fathered her beloved son. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship and romance between Jake and Phoebe, as Jake becomes better acquainted with the son he never knew.
BREATHE is a sweet story line of second chances; of one woman’s struggle as a single parent, and the shock of discovering the man that she loved lived within miles of her home. The premise is heart warming, engaging and entertaining; the conflict is limited as Jake’s clingy ex-wife comes looking for a second chance; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are spirited, strong and determined. Phoebe’s sister Halley and her boyfriend Kane (Fearless #1) return as secondary and supporting characters. BREATHE is an inspiring, encouraging and energetic story of family, love and second chances.
I liked this story, but too much explicite sex. Not necessary.

STORY:
This story was cute, and I honestly don’t do a lot of second chance romance. Jake was a contractor, and I found him to be sexy. Not only sexy from being a contractor, but his personality and the way he cared for Phoebe were sexy to me as well. He had a rough past, but the man he is now was good. Phoebe was adorable along with her son, Jamie. I have nothing bad to say. I enjoyed this storyline.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
This had some steam. I love the sex scene but wanted more.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
Jake’s ex wife, Lindsey – massive eye. So annoying.
Halley and Kane – love them. Read book 2 first, but on my way to read their story in book 1.
OVERALL:
Enjoyable second chance at romance read.
TRIGGERS: none
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
I had to skip over the steamy parts, which didn’t add anything to the story.
