From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Samantha Young… realization that she’s drifting aimlessly through life, Autumn wonders if she’s left herself too vulnerable to the world. Deciding some distance from the security blanket of her brother and an unmotivated life in Glasgow is exactly what she needs to find herself, Autumn takes up her friend’s offer to stay at a ski resort in the snowy hills of Montana. Some guy-free alone time on Whitetail Mountain sounds just the thing to get to know herself better.
However, she wasn’t counting on colliding into sexy Grayson King on the slopes. Autumn has never met anyone like Gray. Confident, smart, with a wicked sense of humor, he makes the men she dated seem like boys. Her attraction to him immediately puts her on the defense because being open-hearted in the past has only gotten it broken. Yet it becomes increasingly difficult to resist a man who is not only determined to seduce her, but adamant about helping her find her purpose in life and embrace the person she is. Autumn knows she shouldn’t fall for Gray. It can only end badly. After all their lives are divided by an ocean and their inevitable separation is just another heart break away…

3 stars. This book was only okay for me. Hold On is Autumn and Grayson’s story. Autumn is on a ski getaway in Montana from her home in Scotland. She is hoping to find some clarity and make some big life choices. Grayson is a construction business owner who is helping out his friend who owns a ski resort, by giving ski lessons on his off season. Autumn is not a good skier and she runs into Grayson on the slope, literally. Grayson is smitten on first sight, but Autumn takes a little bit to get over her fear of relationships and learn to trust him.
This book is very much insta-love, and not the good, believable kind. I didn’t love Grayson. He is very alpha-man in his speech and actions. I felt like he was a Kristen Ashley-hero-wannabe. I hated his use of Angel, constantly, as an endearment. I didn’t mind Autumn. She was quirky and flighty, but cute. I did like the story and felt it had potential, but it just never got there for me. I didn’t feel any chemistry or connection between the couple at all.
Overall, Hold On was kind of a miss for me. But I was still entertained and I do think it’s worth reading. I really like Samantha Young’s On Dublin series, but this book was very different and nothing like that series or writing style. I will probably still read Ms. Young’s books in the hopes that she goes back to that style in the future.
If there is one word to describe Gray it would be persistent. But it pays off. What Autumn perceives at he beginning as being a playboy is actually a man that got knocked off his feet by her and is smart enough to follow his instinct to not miss a chance with her. Since he saw her with her big attitude and all her resistance to his charms, he knew he needed to look no more for his match. She on the other hand was afraid but little by little she realized that being with him felt right, even if it also felt crazy. All his gestures and attention towards her are for her benefit. To help her find her path, which shows her how selfless of a man he is. She learns to trust her feelings and discovers that a connection like the one they have can not be severed. Not even by distance.
I liked Autumn since meeting her in As Dust Dances. She hasn’t had much luck with men. Then she meets Gray. She’s apprehensive with good reason. I immediately fell in love with Gray. He is a man’s man, but still manages to be charming. The relationship moves fast, but Gray and Autumn have great chemistry and it works. Even though this was a novella, I still managed to get all the feels. This was a quick, sweet and steamy read that left me feeling satisfied.
Even though, I’ll admit, I’m not usually a romance reader who enjoys love at first sight story lines, the way that Samantha Young develops Autumn O’Dea and Grayson King’s instant attraction into a kismet-like connection, exploring what it is about each other that they can’t seem to and don’t want to let slip away, I was completely sold on their desire and need for one another, and let me tell you, the more time these two spend together, the easier it is to understand that even though they’ve only known each other for a few days, they’ve both found their ‘one’ and they’ll fight like hell to hold onto it regardless of the obstacles that must be faced, especially a certain older brother and the fact that they live so far away from each other.
I absolutely loved Autumn’s character. I’m a wear her heart on her sleeve kind of girl just like Autumn is, so I completely understood her need to escape her life in Glasgow, seeking refuge where no one knows who she is…where she can take a bit of time to figure out what she wants for herself and then develop a plan for the rest of her life – one that both fulfills her and allows her to give back. It’s clear that Autumn revels in other people’s happiness and like Gray calls her, Autumn is quite angelic in her kindness, in her love of life, and in the way she always tries to see the best in every single person she meets.
There is not a single doubt in my mind that if Grayson King asked me to hold onto him for the rest of my life, I would gladly hold on as tightly as I could because holy crap can that man romance. At first, his declarations seemed like the typical lines guys use to get something they want, but as the story continued and Gray’s way with words led to movements that more than proved his feelings for Autumn, I knew he was the real deal and that Autumn was one heck of a lucky lady!
The amount of butterflies and feelings Samantha Young packs into this novella is quite the feat, especially given the fact that the hero and the heroine are total strangers until she literally skis into him.
I adore both Kristen Proby’s and Samantha Young’s worlds, so the fact that they’re brought together is the best of both worlds for me:)
4.5 Poison Apples
Having previously read Play On, I was really excited to read more about Autumn O’Dea, Killian’s younger sister. Her character had already come across to me as a woman with a beautiful heart and a caring and loveable personality. Here in Hang On, Autumn really comes into her own and shines like the little star I just knew that she would be, as she really gets to show her true self. She is not only a very sassy and sexy woman, she shows that even though she is beautiful, she is also smart and wont let anyone take advantage of her ever again. After Autumn left Glasgow and arrives in Montana, she knows that she needs to decide what to do with her life after leaving behind yet another disastrous relationship, men are totally off the cards for her until she collides with Grayson King on the ski slopes. Gray I fell in love with right from the start, he is the kind of man a girl can only dream about. On first meeting her he falls head over heels for Autumn and can’t stay away from her. His persistence to woo her is not only romantic, he really goes all out to get to know her and helps her to decide what path she needs to follow to find the happiness she craves. As she is a heart on her sleeves kind of girl I felt how brave she was to let Gray in after being used and hurt so badly before by others that took advantage of her sweet nature. This was such a beautiful, pull at your heartstrings kind of romance, that I actually felt all of the emotions as the characters go through them. I cannot tell you how much I loved this book and even though it’s only a novella it’s packed full of moments that will either have you laughing out loud or swooning at how romantic a story this is, and on a scale of one to sizzle it’s a super sexy hot one. Yet another wonderful story from Samantha Young.
I really enjoyed this novella. I definitely recommend this book, this series and this author.
This book crosses over with the amazing Kristen Proby’s Big Sky series and it is perfect for Samantha Young’s characters since they are also emotional and sweet.
Autumm is in a journey (literally) of self discovery and in the snows of Montana meets Gray, one of the King’s brothers. Their chemistry is great and he is so sweet and really a good man.
These worlds that Kristen and Samantha created are so unique and this book is so worth reading!
I love what Samantha Young brings with Hold On. There is just something amazing about Gray and Autumn. I love the instant love and pull between them. Watching them fall for each other is magical. I love how Gray shows Autumn how worthy she is of love and family. Even with a couple of obstacles to over come you can’t help but to fall right along with them. This is a fantastic read that you will just have to experience for yourself.
In “Hold On”, Samantha Young crossed off almost everything in my “what makes a romance great” checklist. A sweet, beautiful, compassionate and real heroine. An arrogant, confident , protective, sexy and rugged alpha mountain man. The fairy tale like snowy setting of Cunningham Falls with all the small town charm of big hearted friends. A beautiful and heartwarming tale of taking chances and never letting go. And I was all in!
Autumn is visiting the mountains of Cunningham Falls from Scotland with her friend. She needs a break from life and some time to figure out what she wants to do next. She has not imagined in her wildest dreams that she will knock off a big hulk of a guy on his feet literally in skiing slope and it will start an adventurous whirlwind romance. Grayson King is very persistent and charming which is dangerous when mixed with his edgy personality. But Autumn isn’t ready for a relationship due to various reason. One is the long list of hopeless men who used her for her brother Killian, the hot shot super rich record label ex. And second is the fact that they live an ocean apart. But Grayson is determined to break her walls down and make her feel special.
I am so in lust with Gray. First, this name suits him like a glove. He has the perfect mix of bad boy goodness with extremely sweet attractive personality. His dirty mouth did a lot of things to me. What I loved most was his determined and strong mindset about Autumn. This beautiful kind girl was treated badly by life. Beginning from a lonely childhood to recent string if loser lovers. Killian is the only good thing in her life. And Gray makes her feel so pampered, protected and happy. She deserved it. They had some ups and downs due to Autumn’s insecurity but Gray gave her the strength to “Hold On”.
I loved everything about the story. The passion, the love, the chemistry – everything was expressed beautifully! Samantha Young made me feel everything. And I still have the dreamy and swoony feeling inside!

4 Stars!
Autumn O’Dea is a 25 yr. old woman from Scotland who is now independently wealthy, but growing up had to fight for all the things that truly mattered. She has an overprotective big brother named Killian who would do anything for her, but lately she feels restless. She’s been through a tough time lately, and could use some space from her life in Glasgow, so when her friends invite her to tag along on their annual holiday to the snowy hills of Montana, she jumps at the chance to get away for a bit. Her life is a mess and she felt like she was floundering. She wanted some time to find herself, and figure out what she wants to do with her future. Some time alone with her thoughts is just what she needs to get herself together.
Autumn is more of a cuddle up with a good book type than the outdoorsy type, but she still decides to hit the slopes and give skiing a try. She soon realizes she should stick to the spa instead of skiing when she accidentally collides with a sexy, american ski instructor named Grayson King. She tries to ignore how gorgeous he is since this trip to Whitetail Mountain is to be some man-free alone time. A guy doesn’t factor into her plans. She’s not looking to get involved or have a fling, but she’s stunned by the attraction between them. He gave her butterflies she wasn’t aware a grown woman could still get. He’s the most beautiful man she’d ever seen, and seems determined to seduce her as he relentlessly pursues her. She was an optimist who had been too open and trusting with her heart in the past. Known to often wear her heart on her sleeve, she believed the love of her life was out there somewhere, but this wasn’t the time for her to be looking for her happily ever after. She was only there for ten days, and he lived an ocean away. She tried to see the best in people, but she would only be setting herself up for heart break to hope for more. The problem was love doesn’t care about timing or distance when you find the one.
I really enjoyed this sweet, short novella. Hold On is a Play On/ Big Sky story that is part of the Kristen Proby Crossover Collection. It’s a sexy insta-love romance in a beautiful setting. I adored Gray and love Samantha Young’s story telling. She always creates the most dreamy, delicious men who make me swoon!
WOW WOW WOW! This is my first Samantha Young book and I’m a fan! What a great addition to the Big Sky Crossover Series! I fell in love from the first “crash”! I really kinda smiled/laughed when Gray took her list and wouldn’t give it back and then proceeded to make her list come true. I loved Autumn’s love of high heeled shoes! This book was so easy to read, had a great story and really hot and steamy. I must read about her brother Killian in her series. I was so luck to read 4 of the books as ARC’s but I’ve already pre-ordered the rest.
I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet but steamy. Gray just owns his confidence and I loved it. I understood Autumn’s hesitation in jumping into a relationship so quickly. But sometimes you just have to take the leap of faith that it will all work out.
Fun fact- Hold On is the first thing I’ve read from Samantha Young. Sheesh I’ve been missing out! This story may’ve been a quick read but it was stuffed full of emotion and sexiness.
I really liked Autumn. She was sassy and had a tender heart. It had gotten her into trouble a time or two, especially where men are concerned. Relationships hadn’t been kind to her so she was taking a break to regroup. Enter Gray. Talk about a collision when they first meet. That initial encounter had nothing on the second time they met though.
The sparks were there from the start. Gray felt it. He knew it in his bones that Autumn was it for him. She just needed some convincing. When Gray pushed, Autumn pulled- or tried to anyway. She couldn’t resist him even when her head said slowdown, her heart knew the score.
Though they wanted the same things, it didn’t mean there weren’t challenges. And they had more than a few to tackle straight away. But with some patience, a lot of communication and all that love they were able to figure it out.
Hold On puts emotions to the test. From a bond between siblings to a romance in the works, Young takes on love at it’s most challenging and ends up Inspiring. Autumn is learning about herself. An optimist in a world of cynicism, she needs a bit of distance to follow her heart. That distance leads her into the arms of Grayson. Her heart tells her, he could be the man of her dreams, her mind has a different opinion. Can she get out of her head long enough to allow her heart to decide?
When I got the chance to get the ARC of this book I knew I needed it! If you follow my reviews then you know that I’m obsessed with Samantha Young’s books. Her characters are wonderful, the emotions portrayed are realistic, and they are good books to escape to. Hold On is no different.
Hold On is a story about Autumn, Killian’s little sister. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is constantly being hurt for it. She’s someone that many women will be able to relate to and I loved that. The chemistry between her and Grey is out of this world. The banter was fantastic and I really enjoyed watching her grow as a character. My one complaint with this book is that it wrapped up too nicely too quickly. I would have loved to see more of a struggle but that is the curse of a novella. There is only so much room for a plot but I really would have loved to see more in this book.
Ultimately, I’m giving this 4 caffeinated stars because it was a short, cute, steamy read that fits well into the Play On series. Since reading this, I will have to pick up a Big Sky novel. I haven’t read any of Kristen Proby’s books but this novella/cross-over really intrigued me.
I have never read anything by Samantha Young before, but knowing that she was writing a novella set in Kristen Proby’s Cunningham Falls world? And that Grayson King was one of the main characters? I was all in! And I have to say, I absolutely loved it!!
Autumn is on vacation with friends after yet another disasterous relationship ends. She knows she needs to find herself and figure out what she wants to do with her life, so she takes her friend up on a ski trip. But, Autumn isn’t a great skiier; that’s how she meets Grayson. She literally runs into him and makes quite an impression on him. He is drawn to her right away.
I absolutely loved these two! Their chemistry is off the charts, and they just have such a spark! I love that Grayson really listened to Autumn and her concerns with their relationship, and that they were able to find that compromise.
After reading Hold On, now I need to go back and read about Autumn’s brother (Killian) and Skylar! Hold On was a great way of introducing me to a new (to me) author!
“ ’ . ’ . ’ .”
by Samantha Young put me in a state of absolute BLISS! Autumn and Grayson’s journey to a happily ever might have been short, sexy, and sweet, but it packed one hell of an emotional and beautiful punch! There were butterflies, people…butterflies roaming around my stomach the whole way through. I loved it! I loved the drama-free, heartwarming beauty and satisfaction of it all! If you haven’t experienced Samantha Young’s writing, this would be the perfect little taste of what you’ll be getting into with her wonderful romances. Grab it. Grab it now and NEVER look back!

Autumn O’Dea is taking a break from men. While on vacation in Montana she literally crashes into Gray King on the ski slopes. Little does she know this will change her life for the better. Gray is literally struck by Autumn and now has to convince her to take a chance on them! Loved this cross over book!
I loved this Novella. Autumn and Grayson have an instant connection, that provides you with some steamy scenes. The banter between them is hysterical and had me laughing out loud. I was so excited for Autumn to get her story after her heartbreaking story in As Dust Dances, and I was not disappointed. It’s a wonderful story of soul mates. This is a sweet quick read that you will want to get your hands on!
It seems like whatever this author touches, short or long it turns to gold, I’ve adored everything she’s written. Hold on is an extension of As Dust Dances, Autumn is on a “guy” break when she goes to Whitetail Montana to get away for awhile. It’s there that she ends up literally running into Grayson King, which was absolutely hysterical. Grayson is freaking hot, and it’s instant electrifying chemistry between these two. I loved the way this author turned a short novella into what seemed like a full length book, the characters were developed, the storyline kept you sucked in, and I loved that Killian and Skylar were front and center in the story. The book was funny, hot, sexy, a lot of sass, and kept you engaged. Can’t ask for much more! Very well worth the read!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
