From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Samantha Young… realization that she’s drifting aimlessly through life, Autumn wonders if she’s left herself too vulnerable to the world. Deciding some distance from the security blanket of her brother and an unmotivated life in Glasgow is exactly what she needs to find herself, Autumn takes up her friend’s offer to stay at a ski resort in the snowy hills of Montana. Some guy-free alone time on Whitetail Mountain sounds just the thing to get to know herself better.
However, she wasn’t counting on colliding into sexy Grayson King on the slopes. Autumn has never met anyone like Gray. Confident, smart, with a wicked sense of humor, he makes the men she dated seem like boys. Her attraction to him immediately puts her on the defense because being open-hearted in the past has only gotten it broken. Yet it becomes increasingly difficult to resist a man who is not only determined to seduce her, but adamant about helping her find her purpose in life and embrace the person she is. Autumn knows she shouldn’t fall for Gray. It can only end badly. After all their lives are divided by an ocean and their inevitable separation is just another heart break away…

Wowzers. I absolutely Love reading about Killian and Autumn. This is so good, from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down. Even though it was only a novella it gave me everything that Samantha gives in all of her books. Due to me having issues about rambling and I will spoil the book. I’m going to leave it at. If you are a Samantha Young fan and Love her books. Then you will absolutely love this one as well. So you Have to read it ASAP. Thank Sam for another amazing Book!!
3.75 stars–HOLD ON is instalment 2.5 and novella in Samantha Young’s contemporary, adult PLAY ON erotic, romance series. This is Autumn O’ Dea, and ski instructor/ construction company owner Grayson King’s storyline. HOLD ON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments in the Play On series is revealed where necessary. Autumn is the sister of Killian O’Dea –AS DUST DANCES.
NOTE: HOLD ON is part of Kristen Proby’s BIG SKY crossover collection.
Told from first person point of view (Autumn ) HOLD ON follows Glasgow resident Autumn O’Dea as she vacations, along with friends Catie and Kyle, in the Whitetail Mountains of Montana. Not much of a ski enthusiast, Autumn will take out ski instructor Grayson King, which will ‘snowball’ into a insta-love romance between two people from opposite sides of the ocean. What ensues is the rapidly building romance and love between Grayson and Autumn, and the potential fall-out as Autumn struggles with issues of trust, and battles with separation anxiety from Killian O’Dea, the brother she considers both parent and friend.
HOLD ON is a story of romance, love, letting go and moving forward. Autumn’s history with men is dark and miserable but meeting Grayson King stirs something in our story line heroine long thought buried and gone. Grayson King’s attraction to Autumn is immediate and intense, so much so that our hero is determined to claim Autumn as his own. The premise is fast paced, sweet, and engaging; the romance is passionate and intense; the characters are colorful and energetic. HOLD ON is the perfect addition to Samantha Young’s PLAY ON series.
A cute, sweet, and entertaining story. I enjoyed every moment of it.
I listened to the audio version of this novella which has a link to As Dust Dances by Samantha Young and the Big Sky series for Kristen Proby. Set at a ski resort, things soon warm up between Autumn and Gray 🙂
This is the first book by Samantha Young and I loved it! It has made me want to go and read more of her books to find out about other characters.
Hold on is a sweet Novella that brings us back to Big Sky and it was full of adoration, love, and family ties. A great read for when you are in the mood for a sweet and warm hearted romance.
So damn good!! This Kristen Proby Crossover Series is just perfect! This is my first Samantha Young book and I’m now planning on reading the rest of the books in the Play On Series too!
If you love Samantha Young and her Play On series, read this! There are some sweet scenes with Killian and Skylar and it makes me so excited to read their book.
If you are, like me, a true Kristen Proby fan you’ve got to read this one!! We all love the King Men and all things Cunningham Falls, and you get all of that goodness in this one.
New fan alert!!
Hands down Hold On is one of my most favorite novellas. It had all the elements of Samantha Young’s books: a breathtaking setting, a hero who captivates and a strong heroine who’s found her match.
Sometimes novellas can seem lacking but I felt like this one was the perfect story. I loved reconnecting with Autumn O’Dea from As Dust Dances. I felt like we really got to know her in that book but I definitely wanted more so I was so happy to see this novella come out. And though I’d highly recommend reading that book first, Hold On can be read as a standalone.
This novella finds Autumn leaving her home in Glasgow to spend some time at a ski resort in Montana. Feeling adrift without a job and after too many failed relationships which leave her opinion of the opposite sex lower than low, she’s determined to find her purpose in life during this brief break in Montana. What she doesn’t anticipate is coming face to face with one Grayson King.
Gray is knocked down (literally) by Autumn’s looks and immediately puts on the full court press. I agree with Autumn that it seemed partly like he was feeding her hot, sexy lines but for some reason it really worked for me (and clearly for Autumn). His sexiness just oozes off the page. She totally wanted to invite him back to her room (who wouldn’t) after their first meeting but she’s once bitten twice shy in her love life and is determined to focus on herself during her time in Montana. That resolve doesn’t last long I really loved how Autumn ultimately doesn’t let her past experiences of heart break and mistrust change her personality or her spirit. She’s the girl who wears her heart on her sleeve and has been taken advantage of but Gray is ready to remedy that.
Gray falls for her the moment they meet and he sets out to prove that there are men out there who can treat her right. It’s a case of instalove (come on, it’s a novella remember) but who doesn’t want to believe in love at first sight? We see them both fall hard and then figure out how to make forever work. I just loved it and I loved them.
This novella is perfect for those who love a man who likes a pursuit and a sweet yet hot happily ever after.
I have been a fan of many of Samantha Young’s books so when I saw this novella available in the Audible Romance package, I was extremely excited and completed it in one sitting! The performance by Elle Newlands was great, the accent was spot on.
I loved the chemistry between Autumn and Grayson. Their story was more of an insta-love but Autumn had just gotten out of a toxic relationship and she wanted nothing to do with men so even though she felt that connection she tried to stay away. She was also visiting from Scotland so she couldn’t see this going anywhere. But Grayson was just as determined and he worked hard to be given a chance. Their story was sweet and definitely swoon-worthy. Not a lot of angst, just some sadness with what Autumn’s past relationships were like, but with Grayson now in her life, it is all beautiful. I enjoyed their story tremendously, now very interested in her brother, Killian’s story!
Greyson King and Autumn had a total epic meet cute moment! I wish this book ended up being longer I want more lol. Love Elles narration.
I adored this story of Autumn and Gray. This novella was the perfect size and you could easily read it in one sitting- if not intertupted unlike me!! Although I wouldn’t have said no to a longer book!!
I loved Gray’s no nonsense personality and it was also great to get an update on Killian and Skylar.
The title was perfect for Autumn and Gray!!
Still on Fallon’s book, she finds her prince charming in the person of Noah King, owner of the Birds sanctuary Spread Your Wings. Well, Noah is the younger brother of Grayson, from this book here.
Grayson owns a construction company. In winter, when the amount of work falls (believe me, the winter in Montana is hard), he always offers himself as ski instructor at the resort whose owner is his friend.
One day, he is literally run over by a woman totally unrelated to the sport. It was Autumn.
Autumn O’Dea had left Glasgow, Scotland, with a couple of friends, to try to overcome her last love frustration. The fourth, to tell you the truth. It seemed she had not been carved for love. And to make matters worse – not that she blames them, of course – her brother, Killian, who owns a successful label in Scotland, had found his partnership with singer Skylar.
Going to Cunningham Falls was to be distracted and pampered with massages and beautiful scenery.
When she found herself on skis, she wondered what the hell she was doing there. When she decided to return to the hotel, she got off balance, slid and ran over one of the instructor, who did not like it at all.
After this embarrassing situation, she did not expect to meet him at night in the hotel restaurant.
Grayson did not like having his “precious part” hit by the tourist, but soon changed his mind when he saw the goddess alone at the restaurant. Those body, those long legs and the red hair.
Click done. And he wanted her from that moment on.
It was not easy to convince her to give him the first chance. Even harder to know that there was a literal ocean between them. But Gray came from a large family with happy love stories. If he wanted his own he should know how fighting for.
5 stars
So loving this Cross Over series by Kristen Proby and Samantha Young just brings in more spice to it. The chemistry between Autumn and Grayson was hot and boy can he tempt so good. These two are all there and boy Grayson just is perfect for Autumn in every way. Loved it by Samantha Young and this series.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
This was my first Samantha Young read, and it was so good!!
My heart aches for Autumn, and the heartbreak she’s faced in the past. Gray is PERFECT for her. He shows her how she should be treated, and brings out a fun, and a bit daring side. The story drew me in from the start and had me sucked in.
A perfect quick read I would highly recommend!
Hold On (Play On, #2.5; Big Sky, #4.6) by Samantha Young is just full of heat, feels and great characters. Autumn and Grayson’s love story is short, steamy and just packed with the right amount of emotional feels and depth. If you like insta- love and well known serial, this is the read for you. Autumn and Gray’s connection is extremely strong and their chemistry makes this a great novella to kick back and get lost in. Without giving anything away, loved the characters, scenes and plot that was introduced in the book.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
I’m really glad I was part of the blog tour not only for this title but for two others as well because now I just want to devour Kristen’s Big Sky series and I haven’t read a Samantha Young story in quite some time, which of course now I have an excuse to #BingeRead her Play On series! GAH, I love author collaborations such as these! It’s such a great way to reconnect with authors you already love and to find new ones as well!
LOVED every word of this insta-connection! This is the kind of story you just smile all the way thru and feel a bit jittery at the same time because you know it’s ending, and you just don’t want it to! Of all the stories I’ve read in this collaboration so far, this is the one I didn’t want the words to end. It was just beautifully written, and their spark jumped off the pages! Well done!
I love Samantha Young’s writing so when I heard she was joining the Kristen Proby Crossover Collection I was super excited. A collaboration of two series I love <3<3
Once I started this I was hooked. This was one short, steamy and sweet romance.
This book is Samantha Young's #2.5 Play On Series and it is set in Kristen Proby's Big Sky Series. If you haven't read either series its a fantastic introduction to them both.
The connection between Autumn and Grayson is instant and could certainly melt the snow on the Big Sky mountains. You will seriously swoon with Grayson, he is hot AF and extremely yummy.
Even though this is a short read it still has lots of heart and steam and a must read.
Kristen Proby’s Crossver collection has been just a joy to read! Obviously I’m constantly begging for more with these novellas, but Samantha did a wonderful job with this cozy and s**y read.
Once Autumn pommels into Grayson King on the slopes, it was darn right near impossible to love this swoony and ever romantic hero that Samantha has written. Autumn needed a break from everyone and figure herself out. And off to Montana she went to find all of that, but I’m sure she didn’t expect to run into (literally) the man who could possibly give her that new start.
I loved how Autumn built these steel walls around herself and trying to stick to her goals. AND , of course, avoiding men. You gotta give it to Grayson, he’s persistent as ever and I loved that he didn’t hold back one bit. He’s a man that knows what he wants, plus the chemistry between them is undeniable. So why wouldn’t he go after her?
Hold On was one of those books that I wish was a full-length standalone, but Samantha packed this rather emotional story that’s absolutely memorable into a novella. I enjoyed the little cameos of Killian and Skylar from As Dust Dances. I still haven’t read all of the books from the Big Sky series, but reading these novellas are just making me want to read them sooner than later.
Proby and Young fans will absolutely love this gem of a novella, revisiting the world of our favorites! And it’s great if you’re new to both, so get your copy today!
**I RECEIVED A COMPLIMENTARY READER’S COPY FROM THE SOCIAL BUTTERFLY PR IN CONSIDERATION FOR A REVIEW. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR CONTENT OF MY REVIEW**
Samantha Young
I kindly received an arc for an honest review
Hold on is an absolutely sweet novella in the Crossover Collection.
Autumn meets Gray on the slopes in Cunningham Falls. Well she doesn’t really meet him, she runs him over with her ski …. later that day they meet again in the hotel bar.
I’d say they had some kind of insta love, it was all really fast, but it was also kind of slow burn….
You also get back in touch with Autumn’s brother Kilian and his girlfriend Skylar.
Great story , I enjoyed it a lot. This was my first book by this author, but definitely not the last!!!
Maybe 3.5 stars. This was a very sweet, very short story. I loved Autumn and Gray. It was harder for Autumn to give in to love having been through what we know she dealt with from her part in As Dust Dances. Gray was all about getting her to give him a chance though. And he went after her full speed. Which makes sense, Autumn was only in the area on a holiday. I liked how Gray was able to help her figure out what she really wanted to do now that she’d gotten away from Scotland and her brother. But I also understand her hesitancy to move so far away from her brother, her only real family. So it was easy to see just why she held out as she did.
This was my first book by Samantha Young. I really enjoyed both Autumn and Grayson. I wish that I had read this before I read Kristen Proby’s book in the crossover collection, as this one happens first in time, and these two show up in that book (Soaring for Fallon). It’s not a huge deal, but my need to read things in order would have preferred it. The story was good, although just a little bit less in-depth and a little bit insta-love as it was a novella. It didn’t feel rushed, though, and the characters were well developed. Overall, I enjoyed it and I would recommend. I would definitely read this author again!
