I haven’t trusted women for a long time. Not since Brooke left me at the altar, breaking my heart and hardening my soul. Now she needs me. Or at least she needs my star power. Because the only way she’ll get her television reality series on the air is if I’m part of the deal as her on-the-air partner.I want to say no. After all, I’ve tried for years to forget her. But the hard truth is that I … the hard truth is that I still want her. Even more, I want to punish her.
So I’ll agree, but only my terms. Provocative, demanding, and wildly sensual terms.
It’s the perfect set-up for extracting revenge … but only if I don’t fall for Brooke all over again.
Each novel in the series is a STANDALONE romance with a guaranteed HEA!

Sex, love, betrayal, revenge…this second chance romance has it all.
Spencer & Brooke are former lovers, torn apart by lies and self sacrifice. The two are forced to push aside their anger & regrets to reluctantly work on renovating The Fix bar together.
While Brooke resolves to make the best of the situation, Spencer is more interested in making her suffer for the pain & heartache she put him through when she walked out of his life.
The journey to piece their shattered lives back together & find love again fits seamlessly into the tapestry of the other books in this engaging series.
Hold on Tight, the second installment of the Man of the Month series, is a great second-chance romance. Spencer and Brooke have a lot of drama surrounding their relationship, both past and present. It is apparent they have chemistry, but secrets and unresolved issues make this HEA some work.
I enjoy the pace of these novellas. The story is fun, and captivating enough to make you anxious for what happens next.
Oh I love the Man of the Month series so far! I thought that Mr. January was great but this book gives it a run for its money!
Spencer and Brooke are an amazing couple who come from different worlds but who were meant for each other. Despite the years, obstacles and secrets between them; they manage to find their own HEA!
As always with J Kenner, the writing is great and so are the characters are amazing! I can’t wait for more of this series!
Hold on Tight is the second chance romance story of Brooke and Spencer. They were together a few years back, engaged to be married, until she left him at the altar. Brooke has carried around her reasons why for years, all while still deeply in love with Spencer, knowing he didn’t quite feel the same.
Years later, they are brought back together to work on a reality TV show where they will be fixing up The Fix, the bar mentioned in the first Man of the Month book, Down on Me.
This is a very short story where a lot of the story is told about the past of Brooke and Spencer. Even with that being said, there is more than enough to clue you in as to their past relationship and why they are at the place they are now.
I enjoyed the book overall but I did feel that they hated each other one minute and then next, everything was good. I also felt that Spencer came on a little too strong at the one point of the story and that Brooke was a little too timid for my liking at the beginning, but she definitely came into her own by the end of the story.
All in all, it was a good book and I look forward to book #3 in the series.
Hold on Tight by J. Kenner is the second book in her new 12 book Man of the Month series. Told in dual POV this is the second chance love story of Spencer Dean and Brooke Hamlin and the series story arc of this larger group of friends efforts to save their favorite bar, The Fix on Sixth.
Spencer and Brooke have a past together. It’s complicated if you know all the details as we readers do early on, and heartbreaking when you only know some of the details as poor Spencer has only known for the past few years. He is set for revenge on Brooke, she is, after all, the one who broke his heart and has ruined all relationships for him after their split.
Brooke has been carrying the secret reason for leaving Spencer on her shoulders alone for a long time. She is still head over heels in love with him and had the best of reasons for what she did. Unfortunately, she never told him why and now, having to work together on their home improvement show filming renovations at The Fix, things get complicated and heated FAST.
Well-written and well-paced, this was another great read and I’m excited with how each of the upcoming characters are gently weaved into the plots in earlier stories without being obtrusive to the current story. Enjoy!
This is a story of second chances.
Brooke makes the hardest sacrifice on her wedding day (leaving Spencer (the love of her life) on their wedding day. Spencer was devastated when Brooke left
him. Believing she left because he wasn’t good enough for her.
Now they are both brought together in a reality show, can they find their way back? Even if they do, with the force which tore them apart do it again?
J. Kenner has again brings you along for the journey. A journey you do not want to miss!
Cannot wait for March!
Book 2 of the 12 part Man of the Month series by J. Kenner sees Brooke Hamlin, a judge’s daughter up against her ex-fiance Spencer Davis, a man from the wrong side of the tracks.
Spencer had left behind five years ago when Brooke abandoned him, the split had been painful and humiliating, leaving him jaded and without trust.
Both Spencer and Brooke worked in the building industry, but Brooke is just getting her business into the black and making a small name for herself. Spencer is a TV idol, but he left his last show due to problems in his personal life.
Brooke is excited to be asked to help out with the refurbishing of the bar, The Fix on Sixth. She’d found a way to get the renovations done for free, only the owners had to agree to it being televised as part of a new show that she would head up. Until she got the news she never wanted to hear. They wanted her to do the show with a partner. And not just any partner. Her ex. Spencer Davis.
Their first meeting is less than conciliatory, in fact, Spencer lays down the law and sets his terms. Brooke can’t believe the words coming out of his mouth or her body’s reaction to them. But, can she do as he asks?
Be his again until the show is over.
I really enjoyed this steamy second chance at love romance. Spencer was dark and broody and Brooke ready to fight for what she wanted. Their chemistry was undeniable and the whole story flew past easily. I look forward to the next installment.
Want to know what happens, then grab your copy of February’s man, and Hold On Tight.
Spencer Dean and Brooke Hamlin have a past and now it appears they are going to be forced to have a future working together. Brooke walked away on their wedding day five years ago and now what starts out as revenge on Spencer’s part turns to a second chance and the sparks are still there. All of the feels of true love are still there after being apart and the chemistry cannot be denied or extinguished with time.
This series is just pure fun and sexy! Definitely a great time read!
“A man who once would have laid down his life for her. Now, he wanted to destroy her.”
Ever since I finished Down On Me I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next Man of the Month. I would love to get inside Julie’s mind when she is brainstorming her projects. I love the concept of this series and look forward to each Man’s story.
If you read about Reece ~ wait to you meet his competition Mr. February! You can’t help compare and get drawn into the excitement of the calendar contest.
“he was manipulative…and she was a woman who’d sacrificed her pride for the sake of her business.”
This book is filled with regret, desperation, moving on, healing, forgiveness, letting go, betrayal, secrets, jealousy and manipulation…intertwined with want, chemistry, heat and the past sneaking its way to the present. This book keeps you on your toes, engaged and always wanting more of the calendar men.
“Don’t ever do something just to go along…You know your own mind, and that’s the path you need to be walking.”
Hold on Tight is Book 2 in the Man of the Month Series and in true J. Kenner fashion each book gives us another man to swoon and fall in love with, in this book we get to know Spencer Dean and Brooke Hamlin the girl who left him at the alter five years ago. This book has it all, love, revenge, second chances and a few twists and turns along the way, the chemistry is sizzling and the banter is perfect. Once again this author has given us a real page turner that I couldn’t put down, looking forward to next Man if the Month !!!!
4.5 Star Review Hold On Tight (Man of the Month #2) by J Kenner
The second in the series and in my opinion almost as good as the first book. What happens when reformed bad boy and reality TV star Spencer Dean comes face to face with Brooke Hamilton, the woman, who left him at the altar 5 years ago.
This is the situation that Spencer finds himself in, not only that but it appears Brooke holds his future and that of his new show in her hands and vice a versa. Talk about complicated, this makes for an interesting yet quick read that left me wanting more.
Hold on Tight is a second chance at love story. Can they put their differences aside and work together to ensure both get the success they deserve, or will fate and the meddling of Brooke’s father prove to much once again?
Although told from both perspectives, the author also had to write about the past which had shaped Spencer and Brooke’s present, this was melded together so well that I had no trouble following at all. My only concern was that one minute Spencer was bound and determined to exact revenge on Brooke and appeared to hate her with a passion and then the next he was back in love with her; it all seemed just a tad too hurried, but that is only my opinion.
I will admit that I would love to have my own Spencer Dean in my life and I was happy that he and Brooke were able to overcome the horrors of the past and look to a future together.
The characters were easy to relate to, not only the main characters but the supporting ones as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this extremely well written and entertaining story and I cannot wait for Cameron’s book in the Man Of The Month series.
Woohoo…Mr. February Spencer Dean is a bad boy that has made something of himself. He had a successful reality tv show fixing houses and teaching the viewers how to do it themselves. His fortune is stolen from him by his financial advisor, who was also one of his best friends. Spencer drops his show but a year later, he is determined to own his dream house and in order to do thing, he wants the producers of his old show to fund his renovations. The only catch is that he has to do a short reality show with Brooke, his former fiancee, renovating the Fifth on Sixth bar!
Spencer has never gotten over what Brooke did to him 5 years ago when she left him on their wedding day. Brooke is building her own property management company and pitches a renovation show to the tv producers in hopes to get her company out there to get more business. Brooke fears that the producers will not do her show if Spencer doesn’t agree. Brooke did something 5 years ago that she felt she had to do in order to save Spencer and his brother. She never told Spencer why she left him and knows that he still hates her for it.
Brooke and Spencer working together is hot and their interactions are caught on film for the show. Spencer realizes that he never got over Brooke and Brooke hopes for a second chance with Spencer. Their past comes back to haunt them and Brooke and Spencer must work through it to see if they can overcome them in order to have the life that they had envisioned years ago.
We also get to find out more on what is going on with partners of the bar, what is happening to bring more income to the bar, and the Man of the Month contests. We get introduced to more characters th
Loving the Man of the Month books. Spence and Brooke, wow, what an amazing romance with so much heartache. Brooke walked away 5 years ago, leaving Spencer at the altar, making a heroic sacrifice. When the opportunity presents itself for Brooke to film a show to remodel “The Fix,” the shows producers make a requirement that Spencer is the co-star. Spencer carries so much hurt after the love of his life walked away but he needs to do this job so he can film the show he really wants. But can he push he feeling aside to work with Brooke. Or will these two star-crossed lovers get the second chance they deserve? Loved the honesty of the betrayal and hurt which gave this romance so much depth and emotion. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
4.25stars–HOLD ON TIGHT is the second instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult MAN OF THE MONTH erotic, romance novella series. This is celebrity and former reality star Spencer Dean, and real-estate rehabber/business entrepreneur Brooke Hamlin’s story line. HOLD ON TIGHT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Some of the events in HOLD ON TIGHT cross over and run parallel with the events of book one DOWN ON ME with the reintroduction of an ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Spencer and Brooke) HOLD ON TIGHT follows the second chance romance between former reality star and remodelling expert Spencer Dean, and real-estate rehabber Brooke Hamlin. Five years earlier our heroine walked away from the only man she would ever love but a man she vowed to protect even if it meant destroying his heart. Abandoned and humiliated at the altar, Spencer Dean would go on to make it big in the reality rehabbing business but fame would come at a cost when someone he trusted took everything he owned including the woman that he loved. Fast forward to present day wherein the local hangout, known as The Fix, is in desperate need of renovations, and a plan is put into motion including a Man of the Month calendar competition, and a reality show aimed at rehabbing the bar. Spencer is offered a role in the local television show but a role that comes with an unwanted co-star. Enter Brooke Hamlin, Spencer’s ex-fiance, and the woman who destroyed his heart. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Brooke and Spencer, and the potential fall out when Spencer’s past threatens to destroy-everything-once again.
HOLD ON TIGHT is a quick read; a story of second chances; of the emotional fall-out of one man’s power and need to control; and the emotional and heartbreaking backlash as it affects three lives, and the future of our story line couple. The premise is captivating; the romance is passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text; the characters are charismatic and real. J. Kenner’s MAN OF THE MONTH series is a sexy, sassy and intriguing look at family, friendship and the consuming nature of romance and love.
