Love might have a chance… if her family stays out of it.
When Knox Campbell goes to Portugal for a short business trip, he never planned on losing his documents. Now he’s stranded in Porto, his passport lost, and his credit cards canceled. Unable to return to the US and without a place to stay, Knox turns to the travel agent who suggested the local day attractions for assistance. Jacinta Romano … attractions for assistance.
Jacinta Romano loves helping her clients set up their dream trips, although she doesn’t usually meet the ones visiting from abroad. But all that changes when a client shows up at the agency while her meddling family are still there. They latch on to him immediately, insisting Jacinta bring him home while he’s stranded. Thankfully, he’s only staying until his new passport arrives and after two weeks of playing hostess, she’ll be glad to send him on his way.
Or will she?

This was an enjoyable short story. I tend to like the longer ones better more detail. This is a great love story for when you only have a few hours and know things are going to get busy and you don’t want to be left in the middle. A wonderful narrated story really bring an already amazing story to life.
Knox is traveling in Portugal when his wallet is stolen, which contained his passport and all ID. When no one can understand English at the police station, he decides to enlist the help of the travel agent that he had emailed.
When Jacinta finds out that the man that she has been helping with travel details, she is glad to help. However, her mother and aunt walk into the travel agency and immediately begin ogling Knox and insisting that Jacinta invite him for dinner.
Jacinta’s family take Knox in while he waits to be issued a new passport. He is thrilled by the prospect, but will two weeks be enough time?
A beautiful tale of love, family, and hospitality!
(I listened to this as an audiobook)
Story: 3.5 stars
Lovely romance, hardly any angst, insta-love, which isn’t my favorite, but it has to be that way because of the length of the book. I enjoyed the family and the acceptance that Knox feels and the annoyance Jacinta has because she’s worried they’ll drive off another suitor.
Pretty realistic, minus the speed of the insta-love. That said, it’s great if you want a short, feel-good romance that will leave you with a smile on your face.
Narrator: 4 stars
I really enjoy this narrator! Her Portuguese accent sounds authentic and she has good cadence and speed: not too fast, not too slow. She narrates all the Romano series, I believe, and so far, so good!
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
This was my first Lucinda Whitney’s book. This short romantic novella is sweet, cute and fun. Knox and Jacinta share an instant attraction/love. Jacinta’s family is hilarious! Mary Jane Conlon did a great job with the narration. I would love to listen to the next book in the Series.
