This was a very weird book, I couldn’t get past the first chapter.
liked this book very much would like to read more by this author
A poorly written self-pub which could really have benefitted from a good copy and content editor. I could not get past the first few chapters because of typos, poor grammer, faulty and confusing punctuation, little plot, stereotypical description, jumpy point of view, etc., etc… A perfect example of the value of the traditional publishing vetting process. A waste of valuable reading time!
Another version of the strong handsome man protecting the smart but weak woman. Tired plot.
Interesting premise and good historical context.
The characters in this story are well-developed and entertaining. Looking forward to sequels.
Enjoyed the story.
Great book and character. Looking forward to seeing more books with Hokee Wolf!
Really enjoyed the character. Looking to read some more with the Wolfe charachter.
Not what I was expecting
This book had elements I normally find appealing: an interesting plot, some unique scenery, some interesting characters, a bit of sex, and elements of the paranormal. But by the time I got half-way through the book, i realized that these elements occurred more as part distinct parts of a sequence than part of a unified whole. As if the author was following a formula or recipe. I found this distracting after a while.
Too much “mysticism,” too little plot.
Nice story. Kept me guessing
Interesting plot.
didnt like the way it ended.
I liked Tony Hillerman’s books and this reminds me of his writing.
I really, really like the character Hokee Wolf. I’m much less enamored of the reporter and the affair they rapidly embark upon especially as she frequently distracts or messes up. She’s portrayed as brilliant but makes stupid mistakes, as if the author wants to write a strong woman but has to keep showing her up ie she is self absorbed, not entirely ethical, breaches his hard privacy, and seems to trade almost totally on the fact that she’s apparently breathtakingly beautiful (which only serves the feminine myth of having to be more gorgeous than anyone else to ever be successful) etc, contrasted with how perfect he is in pretty much every way. I like the shamanism aspects but, again, found throwing her into it with any expectation that she could function credibly totally unbelievable and threw me out of the story. I’d stick with him but lose her for the next story; maybe focus on the mystery to be solved and lose the ‘romance’.
I enjoyed the characters and enjoyed the plot.
a little hard to get into the mind travel, but very interesting. Even had a good love story.
Far-fetched
