This was a great second chance at love book. I’m sad it is also the last book in this wonderful series. The story was touching, sexy, and gave updates on characters from previous books. The characters were well developed and relatable, especially their personal flaws. Gwen is a down and out social worker who moves her daughter to try to give them both a new start. Spencer is the owner of the hockey team, a billionaire and her first love. They have to face their past mistakes and present challenges before they can get their long overdue HEA.
I loved the story of Gwen & Spencer reconnecting after a misunderstanding over 20 years ago. Their path to a HEA was not smooth, but true love prevailed. I loved the entire Puck Battle series and I enjoyed seeing characters from other books in this story. Kristen Echo’s romance books never disappoint and I can’t wait to read her next story.
I liked the premise of the story. Second chance romance, down on her luck heroine trying to connect with her sister, rich hero who loves his family.
I found that I couldn’t connect with Gwen, the story is very frenetic. Her childhood sweetheart Spencer is very conveniently a billionaire and still in love with her, he rides over in his Limo and saves the day.
The characters and story could have been fleshed out a bit more.
I read this as an ARC and this is my honest review.
I have just finished the book and I close it with a huge sigh. This is 100% a bitter sweet moment as this book in the eighth and final book of the Puck Battles series. I could not wait to see what Kristen had in store for us as readers and what Spencer and Gwen’s story would be. I absolutely love that this is a second chance story between these two characters as both of them have a rock past and even have to come to grips on how they originally broke up twenty years ago. This story was a roller coaster of a ride, one of which I cannot wait to take again and again as I will be reading this series again, since I completely devoured this book and made it my number one priority to read it since I received it. I loved everything that this book contained – the character’s feelings, the challenges – tough topics introduced and handled beautifully, the past, the conflict with Gwen’s sister – Cherie, and of course the brief updates of all the upcoming babies at the surprise birthday party! This is a beautifully written story and ending to a phenomenal series. A wonderfully tied big red bow. I cannot say enough about this book to encourage you to purchase and read it, and to even tackle the now completed series but I will promise that you will not be disappointed.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an ARC.
