Meet the four horsemen: Michael, Gabrielle, Uriel and Raphael. For centuries their sole purpose has been guarding the sealed gates to hell. Without keys, there was never any real threat. That was about to change…Uriel could pass for a cowboy – straight out of an aftershave commercial – at least in appearance. With a trusty lasso at his side, he’ll take on all comers in a fight to the finish in … comers in a fight to the finish in order to prove his worth. There’s no heading home empty-handed, when he already lives in the shadows of his siblings. A couple of days and a handful of puns is all he needs to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Bekka knows exactly what it’s like to be invisible and has her best friend, Veronica, to thank for it. All her life, she’s been too frightened to seize the moment, especially when it came to her music and love. A chance meeting with a cowboy, and then a gentleman, turns her world upside down, leaving her with a choice that changes all of their lives.
Personalities clash and secrets are revealed in this third installment of the Four Horsemen Series.

A great read about music. Bekka just wants to run her music shop and dreams of playing in an orchestra. Her plans are always put on hold and are disrupted by a series of robberies and a strange man dressed as a cowboy. As events unravel, she finds herself centre stage. Does music have a magic of its own?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Uriel the jester but vulnerable underneath or Bekka standing up for herself but anxious underneath.
I loved the visual detial throughout the novel like with the shop with the glass and sheet music fluttering on the wind, making destruction beautiful. Or the scenes in the gala with the colourful dresses and music full of colour and sound that was so vivid it’s as if you’re actually there.
I liked how it was Uriel’s story, switching the focus to another horseman for this book. The switch of perspectives worked well to display both sides of the story and was easy to follow with names in chapter titles. I also liked how the artefact was something different from the usual chalice or spear usually found in these kinds of books made it fresh and exciting. The only issue I would raise is that it felt unclear why Uriel was dressed as a cowboy as it felt unnecessary. Fast paced action and high stakes in a fantasy story made for a captivating read. Overall a great read and I would give it four stars.
Hitting The High Note by C.A. King is the third book in the Four Horseman Series. This is a fantastic series that I cannot recommend highly enough!
In this book we get the story of Uriel. Like the previous books this one instantly grabbed my attention. I was straight back into this world and the lives of the characters. This book is so exciting. It is filled with twists and turns the whole way through. I thought I had an idea of what might happen after book 2 however C.A. King has performed her usual magic and taken me on a completely different journey.
I love the way the author has combined the stories so that in each book we get more details of one particular sibling while also getting to know a bit more about the others. For me it has added a depth to the series that I think a lot tend to lack. This author has definitely become a one click author for me and I would urge everyone to give her work a try!

Amazing!!!! I have really been enjoying this series and getting to know all of the horsemen so I was looking forward to Uriel’s story and I was absolutely blown away by it and I have to say this is definitely my favourite so far! The author really did an amazing job with this new instalment – I really was hooked from beginning to end. There were some extremely unexpected twists and even now I keep thinking back and how I honestly just did not see some of the things coming at all! The book is very cleverly written! I loved Uriel, I don’t think he was what I was quite expecting to be honest and Bekka was a surprise also! I loved getting to know their characters.
I am so, so excited to see where Ms King is going to take book 4 in the series – I cannot wait! Her writing is so vividly detailed that her books are a real pleasure to read at all times! I 100% recommend this book and the series as a whole!
Hitting The High Note (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 3) by C.A. King is a fantasy paranormal story and another wonderful addition to a series that I have loved, C. A. does not disappoint. This series just captivates and ensnares you and you are always hanging waiting for the next adventure. This is a different take on the Four Horsemen and the legends/stories and C.A. does it brilliantly, you just never know what you are going to get. I love the surprises that crept up on me and that added another dynamic. I love, love, love the characters who once again find themselves embroiled in danger and demons, action and drama, demigods and mates, chuck in a side order of romance and you have the basic food groups for a recipe for success.
Bekka keeps herself locked away from life and socially stunted but when she notices an ad in the paper her curiosity gets the better of her, but it is that and her jealously that finds her in a situation that she may not recover from.
Uriel, a Horsemen who along with his brothers and sister are chasing the means to keep the gates of hell closed. He looks things on the brighter side of life and is a little quirky and fun. He made me laugh. This cowboy is a bit of a drifter and is on the hunt for demons but he finds is the one thing he never knew he was looking for.
I am now wanting and waiting for the next instalment – When the Paint Dries.

This is the third book in the series. Each book focuses on a particular horseman so technically you can read it as a stand-alone but I wouldn’t recommend it. There is an underlying storyline throughout the series so reading it from the beginning is a good idea. This story centres around Uriel. Their sole purpose of existence is to guard the gates of Hell and someone wants it open. While Uriel is hunting down demons, he comes across a damsel in distress and thinking himself a cowboy, comes to her aid. I think it’s hilarious that an archangel walks and talks like a cowboy. Saving her leads to adventure, danger and love.
Though it’s a quick read, a lot happens on these pages. The plot unfolds a little more, making you realize that there is more going on than you originally believed. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.

Hitting The High Note (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 3) by C A King
Hitting The High Note is the third Book in the A Four Horsemen Novel by C A King. I highly recommend reading this series in order as it will help to give you a better understanding of what is going on. There are a few twists and turns that had me glued to the pages,I could the pages fast enough. The Four Horsemen continue in this story we get Bekka and Eriel’s . She’s not very social and he’s one who wears a cowboy hat and doesn’t back down from conflict . Can he help Bekka? Find out what happens next in this must read. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
This is the third story In this series. Flowers and writing have been found but music is Uriel’s story. This is full of action, suspense and some fun. I enjoyed this the more I read. It has been a bit since the last one and I forgot all about Dante and his quest. I am back up to speed with everyone and their mates as well as what Dante is planning. This is a fast moving enjoyable story filled with wit, fun and suspense. I liked getting to read Uriel’s part in all this and how he reacted to his mate.
I see Raphael’s story is last and we get to read the conclusion of this four part series.
I have really been enjoying these Four Horsemen Novels from CA King! I thought she had hit the highest note and written my favorite with book two but boom nope this book Hitting The High Note totally knocked my socks off and went for the favorite of the series. I love how CA King writes so vividly that I feel as if I am right there submerged in this alternate reality with the characters. I immensely enjoy the way she weaves the story lines of multiple characters from book to book while focusing on a separate couple in each.
In Hitting The High Note we get the story of another horsemen. Uriel, or more often called Uri. He is the fun one of the siblings and keeps things fun and lighthearted pretty much all the time, even in the worst of them. I found myself having a smile or giggle several times because of him. He is about to have his world shook though with a sassy and feisty redhead, Bekka, walks into his life and challenges his not so serious outlook on life. These two will keep you on your toes as they learn to love each other while they battle unseen twists and turns. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
Another fantastic installment from King! The backstory and subsequent world building in this series is riveting, well detailed, and beautifully written. I found the characters immediately relatable. Something about Uriel just resonated with me unexpectedly. Anyway, I continue to thoroughly enjoy this series and this latest addition was a welcomed read. Highly recommend!
Hitting The High Note (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 3) by C. A. King. I love a book that can take me bu surprise and this one definitely lived up to that. It’s got twists I didn’t see coming. I have truly loved every minute of this series and I do recommend them to be read in order. The adventure the author takes readers on its at times mind blowing. The characters are all so detailed and you can’t help but sink in to their story. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I’m so excited to see where the author takes readers next. If you’re looking for something a bit different then I recommend this series and book to you. Four stars!
Hitting The High Note (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 3) by C.A. King
5 out of 5 stars
Hitting the high note is the fourth book in the Four Horsemen series written by C.A. King is not the first book that I have read by this author. Her writing is unique and realistic that I couldn’t put this book down that I read it in one sitting especially with all the twist and turns. We meet the four horsemen: Michael, Gabrielle, Uriel and Raphael
Now we get to see what Uriel is made of his task is to protect everyone from the gates of Hell opening. For centuries their job has been to guard the gates of hell, making sure they never open. Without the keys, there was never any real threat. That’s about to change. There are rumors on the horizon that demon followers unearthed scrolls that explain exactly how to find the lost keys. This new battle is a race to see which side locates them first.
Bekka wasn’t nice to Uriel when they met, she is a woman that loves music. However, she doesn’t socialize very well. Since meeting Uriel, she met another gentleman and now her life is turned upside down.
Can Uriel save Bekka? Will Bekka and Uriel make the right decisions? Will he be-able to stop the gates of hell being opened? Will they have a happily ever-after?
I highly recommend this amazing book/series but, please read all books in order…

Hitting the High Note by C.A. King is the third book in A Four Horsemen Novel series. I recommend reading the series in order because the books do build onto one another. Uriel, a modern day cowboy, steps in to help make sure the keys to unseal hell are not found. Bekka runs into the man of her dreams, or is he? Her decisions can change the world as we know it. I have enjoyed this series immensely and this did not disappoint. I always enjoy a book by C.A. King but this is my favorite series so far. The characters are wonderful, there are twists and turns, and enough going on to keep me on the edge of my seat.

“The guardians of the four gates remained faithful to their cause through the ages – seeking out and destroying demons trying to free their forefather from the confines of the hell he had been sentenced to live in. Thousands of years later, a new threat appeared on the horizon…”
Well played, Ms. King. Well played indeed! I definitely didn’t see those twists coming. Sneaky and oh so clever!! My anticipation level is set on HIGH for what the next book will reveal.
Hitting the High Note is the third book in The Four Horsemen series by C.A King. I have seriously loved all Ms. King’s books- but there is just something about this series which has really captured my imagination. I love where it is leading, and the twist/s in this book had my mind reeling with possibilities and leaping to conclusions. I love the bridging story which spans the entire series, as well as each ‘individual couples’ story- there is so much going on, in a great way- and Ms. King orchestrates everything incredibly well. As with the other two books, this story drew me in and I soon lost all sense of time and place, as I was plunged into a fantastic adventure.
This series is Ms. King’s take/twist on the four horsemen legend- and what she has produced is a wonderfully imaginative urban fantasy that has action, adventure, demigods, demons, good vs evil, mystery, suspense, drama, danger, scheming, jealousy, hidden agendas, set-ups, truth, brotherhood, camaraderie, humour, and a sweet romance.
Uriel (Uri) is one of the 4 horsemen of legend, who we discovered back in book one, are real- and along with his 2 brothers and 1 sister, have been tasked with guarding the gates to hell. Uri is the joker of the group, always quick with the funny quips and banter. But there is much more to him than the goofy cowboy he comes across as- as we soon discover in this book. When his ‘investigation, places him in the path of a feisty red head, he thinks she’s antagonistic and rude.
Bekka is a talented musician, with performance anxiety. She yearns to be brave enough to one day play in an orchestra, but in the meantime, she spends her days running her music supply store, which has been in her family for generations. There have been a spate of break and enters in the neighbourhood recently which has her concerned- she may wish for a little more excitement, but not that type of excitement. When she comes across Uriel in the neighbourhood, their encounter doesn’t end well, thanks to her social awkwardness and his protective nature. She thinks he’s overbearing and egotistical. So, what happens when danger comes calling and secrets are revealed? Things definitely aren’t what they seem in this captivating story. The few twists certainly had me sitting up and taking notice. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in “When the Paint Dries”. Bring on Book 4!!!!
Fantastic!!!
Thank you, Ms. King!
This is the third book in this series, I recomend reading these books in order to help enhance your enjoyment of this series. The four horsemen’s journey continues and in this installment we get to see more of Uriel. His task is to protect everyone from the gates of Hell opening. But this could be a little more challenging than he expects. I loved the twists and turns that kept me turning pages. I highly recommend joining Uriel on his adeventure and you never know what might happen next
I loved this story of one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, Uriel. Protecting the world from the dangers of hell’s gates opening is his job, little does he know he may get more than he bargained for when he meets Bekka, the owner of a small music shop. This story has it all: humor, action, intrigue, things and people not being what they seem, and perhaps an opportunity of a soul mate. Just when it looks like the reader has it all figured out, the tides are turned, a specialty of Ms. King’s writing.
