I absolutely loved Riley & Zoey’s story! They were adorable right from the start & it drew me in. I loved how their relationship grew. This was such a real, emotional story. I love Kennedy Fox books & I highly recommend this book & this series!!
Riley wakes up next Zoey after a wild and crazy night in Vegas. In his hungover haze he remembers that they got hitched the night before. Before he can discuss what their next steps are going to be, Riley’s best friend barges into their hotel room and drags him away so they don’t miss their flight home. They exchange numbers with the intent to discuss how to move forward. Two weeks later he is served with annulment papers. He is bummed but signs them and sends them back. So imagine his surprise when Zoey shows up on his doorstep hoping to see where things can go between them.
I loved this book so much. Riley was such a sweet and charming character but would you expect anything different from Alex and River’s son. I am pretty sure I love Riley more than Alex. I really enjoyed Riley and Zoey’s story. I loved how they took the time to get to know each other and took the smesky times out of the equation even if they were both on fire from their chemistry. And the family dynamic was such an added bonus. Such a sweet and fun book.
I can always rely on anything Kennedy Fox to get me out a book hangover. And this book right here was exactly what I needed to get me over my most recent hangover. One thing the Bishops never fail to do is make me laugh and that was just what I needed. Hitching the Cowboy is the start of the second generation of Bishops and I don’t think anyone is ready for them.
Riley planned a quick birthday trip to Vegas for his best friend Diesel. They both had nothing but intentions of a fun time and lots of drinking for the short trip. Being cowboys they obviously stick out more than anyone else. Zoey is in Vegas for the weekend for her sisters last fling before the ring. And while they are out and about they end up running in Riley and Diesel. The next morning they run into them again and they end up all going out on a party bus hoping bars. So when the alcohol gets served and dares are made Riley and Zoey find themselves waking up married the morning they are both set to head home. But when annulment papers don’t get signed and Zoey shows up in Texas they try to make it work. Their chemistry together despite being total opposites is off the charts. But things are never as they seem with Zoey because she’s keeping a secret.
I never adventured in the Cowboy romance genre until Kennedy Fox. I kept seeing a blurb for “Taming Him” on Facebook. So I took a chance and downloaded it. Well, get a lasso and wrangle me in, I was hooked. The four books were about the Bishop Brothers. All rugged, alpha and hot. You can read that series without reading about the brothers but I don’t recommend it. The brothers are great!
Years later, not in real time but in book time, enter the Circle B Ranch series. The series is based about the children of the Bishop Brothers.
“Hitching the Cowboy” involves Riley, Alex and River’s son.
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Right? Unless you get married on a dare from your BFF after clubbing and drinking. Alex meets Zoey on a night out in Vegas and they are electric. Kennedy Fox has a knack for writing super hot couples.
Zoey originally serves Riley annulment papers but decides on what to see if they can make it work. Their chemistry is undeniable. I love how much Riley is like his dad. A true Southern gentleman cowboy. Zoey is a free spirit who can tame this cowboy for sure.
I was given a code by Kennedy Fox for my honest review on the story and the audiobook version. I’ve listen to Lia Langola before and loved her. Stephan Dexter was a new narrator for me. That gruff, southern voice? Perfect cowboy voice. I might need to visit Texas to see if they sound like that. I love that we have more installments of this series coming up.
I enjoyed Riley and Zoey’s story of love at first sight. It was good to get their story and learn about them and their families. I thoroughly enjoyed the Bishop’s and can somewhat relate to the unconditional love they have for one another. I was sad for Zoey and her family experience and was pissed for her when Benjamin came. So glad she stood her ground and knew in her heart of hearts where she belonged. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series.
I absolutely adored this story! It was a fantastic story! I loved Riley and Zoey! They were great characters and I loved their interactions with each other. The antics in Vegas were awesome! I loved Riley and Diesel’s friendship and interactions! (I am now dying for Diesel’s story!) Riley and Zoey have an instant connection and a crazy story as they end up dared to get married and rushed apart the morning after. Both feel like there is something there but are not sure if that was truly the case. Zoey doesn’t know if it’s something that could last or not and she is being pushed by her parents into a completely different direction, one she really doesn’t want. Zoey doesn’t want to continue being a disappoint to her family but what they are forcing her towards is so far from what she is looking for. When comes and meets the Bishops she ends up in a totally new world. The Bishops are loud and crazy but they all love one another and fully support each other other. I loved how things developed between Riley and Zoey and how Riley was willing to fight to figure it out and build the relationship but he wasn’t going to push Zoey into something she truly didn’t want. This story pulled me in from beginning to end. It had me laughing and not wanting to put it down! I loved getting to see the older generation on the ranch but getting to meet the new generation was awesome! I am so glad that we are getting this second generation series!
The narrators did a fantastic job with this one as well! They brought the characters to life for me and I loved the subtle accents that just fit these characters. It really added to the story!
Circle B Ranch #1
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, or does it?
Riley Bishop is in Vegas celebrating his buddy Diesel’s birthday when they run into a bachelorette party and end up partying with them. Riley wakes up the next morning with a woman in his bed and a ring on his finger. Zoey Mitchell is in Vegas with her sister’s bachelorette party celebrating and waking up married is not what she expected. She comes from a different background than Riley, one where her parents expect her to marry who they’ve picked and be what they want with no backlash and a big city. Riley is a rancher and a cowboy through and through and comes from a huge loving family and a small town. They both go their separate ways after the weekend and then the annulment papers show up.
Zoey shows up at the ranch and they decide to try to make the marriage work, but will it? There are still some secrets that haven’t been told.

Listened to the audio version on Audible.
This accidental marriage story was cheeky and sweet! Riley and Zoey are incredibly young, but after meeting in Vegas and having a fun night, they wake up to hangovers and wedding rings. Fans of the Bishop Brothers will love this second generation story and will get glimpses of familiar favorite characters.
I love the narrators and they did such a great job! Stephen Dexter’s accent was swoon worthy, and I totally imagine a sturdy, manly cowboy while listening to his voice. Lia Langola was also fantastic. The narrators enunciated their words, spoke at a pace that was easy to follow and understand, and the dual perspective provided continuous details from the story that allowed you to understand the character’s actions and feelings. Highly recommend this audio version!
This a sweet listen with two likable characteres and a loving family. I must say I loves Riley’s family and the overall feel of the ranch. What began with a dare end up with so much more, and the way dealt with it was quite believable. The middle part dragged a bit and damped my enjoyment a little, but it picked up at the ending and ooh my heart almost broke for those two.
4.5 Delightful Stars!
This is a full-length standalone novel in the Circle B Ranch series and a spin-off from the Bishop Brothers series that’ll get you hooked right from the start!!
Hitching the Cowboy is hilarious, swoony, fun, sexy, entertaining and much more. Riley and Zoey journey is a real adventure that started with one wild night, and even though you may called this an instalove romance, Kennedy Fox masterful writing and Lia Langola & Stephen Dexter’s brilliant performances makes this story and the characters believable.
I absolutely loved every minute of it, and highly recommend it. You don’t need to read the Bishop Brothers series to be able to enjoy this fabulous story.
Sweet and light-hearted, Hitching the Cowboy was a delightful small-town romance that I truly enjoyed. Riley and Zoey were relatable characters with instant chemistry. The Bishops were a loving and welcoming brood which I cannot help but felt right at home with them. The storyline was simple with low angst and drama. A fun and sexy read with all the small town feels!
Audio – 4.5 Stars
I’ve found another male narrator who would make me swoon. Stephen Dexter performance was excellent and Lia Langola brought Zoey to live. A very enjoyable listening experience!
I volunteered to provide an honest review of a complimentary audio copy of this book.
From Vegas to Texas…a fun romp!
I zoomed through this audiobook in a day because I couldn’t wait to find out how the main characters (who were strangers before getting married in Vegas on a drunken dare) would find their HEA. Thankfully, this story didn’t fall down the rabbit hole of frivolity, the authors we’re able to round out their personalities and make this a satisfying romance, funny but with some depth. The female lead character was a bit childish but eventually found her backbone. The narrator, Lia Langola, captured her naiveté, this almost got on my nerves, but was fine for the most part. On the other hand, I loved the male narrator, Stephen Dexter, he was perfectly suited for a Texas rancher. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series, the small town ranch setting is appealing and it will be nice to revisit the engaging secondary characters.
Overall it was a very enjoyable story, I loved it. Cowboy romance yes please!! The story flowed and keeps the reader interested in what was going on. This is the first of the series and I know it’s a spin off of another series but I hadn’t read that one and could completely understand everything that was happening. It was a sweet, sexy romance.
Riley and Zoey are so good, I really enjoyed their dynamic. Riley goes on a trip to Las Vegas with his best friend Diesel and meets Zoey. One thing leads to another and BAM they wake up married.
Riley and Zoey decide to give the marriage a go instead of getting an annulment. Zoey’s from a city and life in small town Texas is definitely an adjustment.
I love the Bishop clan and was sooo happy for this series. Riley’s story is the first in the series and it was so enjoyable and LOL funny.
I highly recommend this book, I can’t wait for the rest of Circle B Ranch series.
Audiobook Review:
Hitching the Cowboy was such a fun listen for me. I was so wrapped up in the banter and closeness of the Bishop family that it made the hours fly.
Riley and Zoey were pretty much impossible not to love. They may have had instant chemistry and attraction, but there was some real development of their relationship that was good to see. They were hard working, relatable characters and that was an important part of what I liked about the story.
The secondary characters were just as good. All of the Bishop family and their honorary member and Riley’s best friend Diesel brought a lot to the storyline. They were always in each other’s business with most of them working or living within close proximity of each other but I love those kind of families.
Lia Langola did fantastic job with this story. Her performance never disappoints. Stephen Dexter did a really good job as well. He had a certain gruffness to his tone that I wouldn’t mind hearing again in other books.
Overall this one was a winner and I highly recommend it.
This is a fun and sweet, low angst cowboy romance. Riley is charming and sweet. I like how secure he is in his feelings for Zoey. She is a little more cautious and not as open as he is, but their chemistry is something she can’t deny.
It’s always fun to return to the Bishop Clan, and I loved meeting the next generation. Stephen dexter was so good in this. The pain and yearning he conveys near the end gave me all the feels. You gotta love a southern accent. Lia Langola’s narration is very good too. I’ve enjoyed her work in other books, but she really brought Zoey’s sweetness and energy to life. I think this is my favorite of her narration so far.
It’s always a little frustrating when lack of communication causes the issues in a book, but they dealt with it very quickly in this one. Though a few times I wanted to shake Zoey and tell her to just speak up for herself. There aren’t very many steamy scenes, but the few they have are Hot. Hot. Hot. I enjoyed this story very much.
I really enjoyed this story. I thought the instant attraction was done really well, and I could almost feel their attraction leaking off the page (or audio file in this instance). I liked that we were introduced to the supporting characters in a way that left me chopping at the bit for more. And that we also got enough background on the older generation, that it didn’t matter if you hadn’t read their stories but it whet the appetite to want to go and listen/ read anyway.
Riley was awesome. I loved him so much. It’s been a while since I read/ listened to a cowboy story and now I’m kicking myself as to why I waited so long. If they’re all like Riley, you need to sign me up! The accent. The swagger. The sweetness yet alphaness. It was all the things.
I liked Zoey for the most part. I did get annoyed at her repeatedly saying/ or internal monologue that she didn’t have a choice. At times, I even started shouting at my phone. Yes, girl, you did have a choice and you made it. Own it and move on. Stop playing the poor me card. But otherwise, I liked her. I liked that she eventually stood her ground.
The chemistry between these two was off the charts. I liked that it started hot and heavy, then simmered down as they got to know each other, and then heated up again. The sexual tension, man, at times, I thought I was going to need a fire extinguisher.
There was a little production issue, and I don’t know whether I misheard it or it was an inconsistency issue that wasn’t picked up during edits but it took me out of the story a little. But it is probably something that others wouldn’t have noticed. It wasn’t enough to ruin the story, it just made me sit up and say, wait, what?
I thought the narration was fantastic. Lia Langola and Stephen Dexter were perfect for this book. Stephen’s southern accent is all the things. The transition from one to the other was smooth and it wasn’t jarring. Same as with the dialogue changes within a chapter, it felt like an easy shift. There voices complement each other well.
I really love a good what happens in Vegas doesn’t really stay in Vegas romance and this did not disappoint. From the moment Riley sets eyes on Zoey he feels a connection with her. After a drunken night they wake up married and both heading back home that morning. He can’t get her out of his mind and when she shows up at the family ranch, they are both ready to give this marriage a real try. I loved Riley so much such a good guy and family man. Zoey was great as well and wasn’t sure where her life should be going and was willing to see if her connection with Riley was the forever kind.
********AUDIO REVIEW********
It was great to go back to the Circle B Ranch via the narration of Lia Langola and Stephen Dexter. Who better to bring these characters to us than those two. Both of them are masters at switching from male to female or female to male when reading those parts. I always enjoy anything they are narrating but when it is a good story it is that much more enjoyable.
This is the first in the Circle B Ranch series which features the offspring of the Bishop Brothers. In Hitching the Cowboy Alex and River’s son Riley is now in his 20’s and goes to Vegas for his best friend’s 21st birthday. While there he meets sweet Zoe and history repeats itself with him (remember how his parents got together). Riley knows there is something special about Zoe right off the bat and spends almost his entire time in Vegas with her and the time to go home comes much too soon.
Zoe is living a life that everyone else wants her to live, not the one she wants to live. After meeting Riley in Vegas and feeling that special connection she heads to Texas to visit him. Upon arriving those feelings for him are still there and vice versa. Riley is hell bent on proving to her what their life could be like there on the ranch together.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Kennedy Fox book if there wasn’t a little twist thrown in that could jeopardize Riley and Zoe’s relationship but at the same time it is a Kennedy Fox book so there is eventually an HEA. I loved returning to Circle B and seeing Riley all grown up and getting recaps on the older Bishop boys and how their lives have been over the years.
My first book in Kennedy Fox’s Cowboy World and I loved it! From my understanding this is the next gen/spin off the original Bishop Brothers series and I do want to go back to the beginning when I can.
Hitching the Cowboy is a story based around the Hero and heroine meeting on their own trips to Las Vegas and on one drunken night they get hitched! I loved that there wasn’t that panic of oh hell what have we done, rush to get an annulment. Zoey sends Riley the annulment papers several weeks later after no contact between them. After Riley returns the papers he is shocked to find Zoey on his doorstep wanting to see if they chemistry they had in Vegas is something worth exploring.
These two had a connection that interested me when they first met in Vegas but seeing them build on that at the ranch was everything a romance book should be about. Seeing their relationship build up into a friendship and then feelings develop from this is they take things back to basics was beautiful. I loved the whole ranch vibe and Riley’s family made amazing secondary characters. The story is one you can just relax and take in, an easy read romance that leaves you feeling satisfied.
I was happily listening along in my little Circle B Ranch bubble, swept away by the romance between Riley and Zoey when the bump in the road makes an appearance and my heart dropped when Riley was caught up in it all. Still proving to be the stand up gentlemen he is even while his heart is breaking I loved him even more in that moment. Obviously things all work out in the end and this story left me satisfied from start to finish. Lia Langola and Stephen Dexter did a wonderful job narrating the audiobook and really brought these characters to life for me. A series I will continue to listen too for sure.
