I feel like Pippa Grant and Lili Valente are the Cagney and Lacey of the Rom Com world. Individually, they both write smart, fun, amazing rom-coms with outrageous antics. Together, it’s like their powers expand exponentially, and they take you on a wild ride that has so much heart, humor and hysterics that you can’t help but wish you lived in Happy Cat to see this for yourself.
Blake and Hope have a complicated history that no one knows about, and that the readers of this series have been waiting to hear about. Who could have guessed just how complicated it actually was? But for the love of Chewpacca, Hope’s faithful alpaca sidekick, they are able to put their past aside and join forces. From the moment they get together this second time around, Blake is in for the long haul, and has to convince his reluctant bride to give them a real chance.
Although this is the third in a trilogy, each book is a standalone with a HEA, so they can be read individually. But do yourself a favor and read them all – they are each a little slice of rom-com heaven to be enjoyed. Just be warned – make sure you’re someplace you can laugh out loud, because you will, and you don’t want to get kicked out of bed for laughing too much.
What a mishmash of fun! Alpacas, raccoons, hedgehogs, cats, dogs and more, enough for a small circus. Laugh out loud fun, alongside hurt your heart angst makes for an entertaining and adorable read, with a side of steam. Don’t miss this one! TBR list material.
5 Star review of Hitched (Happy Cat #3) by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente
I love the writing style of Pippa Grant and Lili Valente, I have no idea were one author stops and the other takes over such is their seamless story-telling.
I have to say that when I read the blurb for this book I quickly put my hand up to read and review. It sounded so intriguing and is Blake O’Dell and Hope St. Clair’s story.
Blake and Hope are total opposites and this makes for some laugh out loud moments throughout the book. Hitched is a great example of romantic comedy at it’s best; the romance is at times swoon worthy and there was also enough drama and quirkiness to make the story one that I couldn’t put down. Not to mention that the animals added another layer to the story.
Hitched is a light hearted and entertaining read that will engage you and keep you riveted from the first to the last chapter.
This was a great addition to the series and I cannot wait for more.
This is another hilarious read from the warped minds of Pippa Grant and Lili Valente. We are back in Happy Cat with Hope St Claire whose grandmother leaves everything on her farm to her grandchild that is married. Hope is desperate and calls the one man in town that drives her crazy, Blake O’Dell. Take one fake marriage, a wife who fries electronics when upset, a prized Alpaca stud, a pet raccoon named George Clooney, and a groom who won’t let this second chance go, and you get a fun zany installment in this series. I love both of these authors separately, together they are even better. If you like quick, funny romance, this series is for you. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
After reading Hammered I just knew Hope and Blake’s story was going to be a cracker and it definitely is plus more.
Hope St. Claire desperately needs Blake O’Dell to do her an enormous favour… marry her so she can keep her grandmother’s animal sanctuary and continue to care for the animals, as per the stipulations of the will. Let the shenanigans begin!
Honestly, there were times I think I startled my cat I laughed so loud and long! My husband even asked me to read out bits and pieces because they were so funny. Great expressions and descriptions like ‘sausage sunrise’, ‘slumber lumber’ and ‘morning whack of dawn’ bring a smile to your face while it is still obvious what it is yet not crass nor crude.
This is a fast faced book because of the solid storyline, sweet romance, bit of mystery and sensational comedy. I literally couldn’t put it down and read it in one go. I totally recommend it to everyone.
This book put a constant smile on my face from the opening page until the last page.
Watching the evolution of Blake and Hope’s relationship just made me feel so good. What I really found the most revealing and the saddest, happiest and yet truest part of this book is how the people who are in our lives affect us so deeply, good and bad. Many a truth is found in comedy. It’s how light is shed on issues that are real. It makes us look at ourselves in a way that doesn’t hit as hard. This was so evident in this story. I don’t do spoilers because I feel it’s not fair to the author. What I will say is, my opinion of Hope vastly changed as the story unfolded. Once again proving the saying, “things aren’t always as they appear”. However, that being said those things being hidden can vastly influence us, mentally, physically and emotionally beyond our control. Also, when we have love and support it can help change the course of our lives but ultimately we have to change our own lives.
On the surface Blake and Hope appear to be oil and water…they don’t mix. Fortunately, with time, patience, a good plot and a lot of laughs things progress and their relationship at times is electrified.
We are also lucky enough to be reacquainted with some of our favorite characters (human and animal) from previous books from Happy Cat. That always puts a smile on my face,
The laughs are plenty, the situations unimaginable and the town love is rampant. There’s no place else I’d rather read.
So treat yourself to enjoy some over the top situations and some more laugh lines on your face. You may even learn about some things you didn’t know could actually happen. So it’s an educational books as well as a romcom. Enjoy!!!!
A lot of electricity in the air
I loved the characters, especially that of Hope, which is both a little funny, sweet, weird and with a self-esteem of her so low that she refrains herself from happiness. The story is very romantic, well written and rather cute. The whole thing is quite funny, especially with Hope’s obsession with the animals or the explosions she provokes when she does not manage her energy.
In this volume, animals remain characters in their own right, always unpredictable and hilarious behavior. (A bonus epilogue is to download for free and it’s a quite unexpected part about the life of Chewi Alpaca.)
Blake agrees to remarry with Hope, after their secret marriage and their secret annulment 4 years ago, so that she can keep her grandmother’s property for the animals (as opposed to her cousin who wants to sell the alpaca), and that Blake has his license for the sale and tasting of his wine. Hope is a hell of a phenomenon: she speaks right and wrong to get what she wants, and she’s quite dangerous herself because she has magnetic forces that can disrupt electrical devices.
Blake knows he has always loved Hope even though she hurt him by canceling their marriage, but he intends to change this situation by showing her that he does not hate her.
I’m looking forward to the story of the awesome Clint, Blake’s brother 🙂
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Giggle, chortle, snort, snicker, guffaw, grin, laugh out loud. You’ll do all this and more while reading this book. And swoon! OMGee, for all the frolicking fun and incendiary chemistry, this book offers hit after hit to the heart! Once again I’m in awe of the kind of minds that can deliver such unique hilarity and colorful creativity that, with no effort at all, captivate the reader while still delivering an enticing, endearing story that touches the heart.
This time we get the story of the third O’Dell brother, Blake, and animal sanctuary owner, Hope St. Claire. From the previous books, we were lead to believe that Blake and Hope utterly despise each other, even though he’s the one who charges in with his trusty toolbox to fix electrical issues when Hope fries the circuits of her latest appliance casualty. But fair warning, all is not as it appears with these two, and they have a major secret they’ve been keeping from everyone for years.
Hope needs to get married yesterday in order to save her beloved alpaca from her money-hungry cousin and, after exhausting all other possibilities, gets Blake to agree to marry her. But her cousin, who really wants the cash Chewpaca’s stud services will bring, hires a PI to watch Blake and Hope 24/7 to prove the marriage is fake. And while Hope is convinced she’s a failure where love is concerned, Blake seizes the opportunity to rectify Hope’s hopeless view of love and make her his, once and for all. It certainly doesn’t hurt Blake’s plan with the mandatory displays of affection necessary to convince prying eyes that the marriage is legit.
Y’all, this town and these people are ridiculously funny but so loveable and enchanting that I want to move to Happy Cat and become an honorary O’Dell. There are just enough quirks to make it charming, and if there were any possibility for calm or boring, the critter menagerie makes that all but impossible. Between our favorite raccoon and his family, the delightfully wacky secondary characters, and an authentic, captivating and loveable hero and heroine, there’s never a dull moment on Blake and Hope’s journey to forever.
With impeccably timed comedy gold, perfectly flawed, engaging characters and just-right touches of steam and emotion, you’ll fall in love with all things Happy Cat and the O’Dell family. These characters and their story will touch your heart, tickle your funny bone and fill your soul, so get your copy and escape to Happy Cat today!
*I read an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.
If you are looking for a light, fun, flirty easy breezy RomCom full of hysterical shenanigans, look no further! I absolutely adored this latest collaboration from Lily and Pippa who are the superheroes of RomCom writing! I am once again floored by their writing and ability to mix comedy with sweet, heartwarming and sexy moments. I adore Blake and Hope’s unconventional love story! I laughed out loud, swooned and even teared up a bit at this wonderful story that puts us back in that crazy little town of Happy Cat. Blake and Hope’s fake marriage in order to save Chewpaca the alpaca will go down in history of one of the craziest things I’ve ever read but also one of the best! As always the supporting cast of characters, who we already know and love from the previous books, animals included, but especially Chewpaca and George Cooney and family, add so much to this fun story! So wonderfully entertaining! This is why I read!
Bravo ladies!! Keep it coming!
I read an advanced copy for an honest review.
We first encounter Blake and Hope in the book Hitched, and their chemistry is “Shocking”. Literally Hope shorts out everything electical and Blake grumbles and fixes it.
In Hitched, Hope needs to marry somone, anyone to keep her alpaca. Blake is at the BOTTOM of her list. They were secrectly married 4 years ago, and Hope annulled it. Why would he even say yes this time? Plus she has that “nullufying” electric products going on.
Blake agrees to help Hope (There is a fine line between hate and love and he might really be leaning towards the love). When they kiss, during theeir wedding, it’s explosive…literally! (City all is blacked out).
This story is filled is the usual crazy characters and animals that we have grown to love as well as texts between the O’Dell brothers.
It’s also a story about learning to open your heart and stand up for yourself (and love and accept who you are).
You will laugh outloud, while reading this book and love it’s heartwarming ending.
Sweet, funny and romantic…
Blake and Hope “Hate” each other so much so that they get married twice!
This is a face paced, easy read. The cast of characters are hilarious. The animals are a hoot. The town is a riot.
If you want a laugh and feel good read, grab this gem.
