Loved returning to Happy Cat! Blake and Hope’s story is a frenemies to lovers/second chance (kind of) story. These two have a bit of a past (what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas) and ever since then they’ve tolerated each other. Hope is in a bit of a legal bind and asks Blake to help her, initially Blake declines but eventually relents and winds up helping her. Blake is a very protective, stand up guy. He’s attracted to Hope but he’s a bit crushed by the fact that Hope rejected him prior-in Vegas. He comes to understand why Hope is the way she is and leads her into a true relationship with him and his friends and family where she is embraced and loved for who she is. I loved this story about another O’Dell brother and I look forward to the next book!
Welcome back to Happy Cat with this EPIC book that involves a stud alpaca, raccoon and the general hijinks that Pippa Grant and Lili Valente have show us in their writing.
What do you do when you need to get married to protect the virility of a stud alpaca? Well, you get dressed and wait in front of the court house of course! This book had me in stitches from the first to the last chapter, but don’t think that it was all just fun and games in the revived romance between Blake and Hope. Because they have already been married once, yep, that’s right. The great news is they were able to find their HEA with crazy relatives, animals and toys that Happy Cat is known for.
Fun + cute + swoony = awesome!
(Also: raccoons and cupcakes. Bonus!)
I had a ridiculous amount of fun reading Hitched–my first read from this duo, but definitely not my last! (Added Hosed and Hammered to my TBR and wish lists, Clint’s story to follow as soon as it’s listed) Between the fabulous characters, the laugh-out-loud situations they got themselves into and out of, the (mostly, even when they’re causing the problems) lovable animals, and the swoony romance, this one was a perfect end-of-summer read. It almost made me forget it was the end of summer. 😉
I loved my first trip to Happy Cat, and can’t wait to get back!
Rating: 4 stars / A-
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Pippa Grant and Lili Valente have perfected the skill of introducing adorable animals as key cast members in wonderful romantic comedies. This is the third book in the series and we return to Happy Cat to see why Hope and Blake are enemies. (We met both characters in prior books, where they had a contentious relationship. While it’s not necessary to read the prior books to understand what is happening in this book, they are such fun books that introduce the great cast. So, I would recommend you do so!) In order to save her beloved alpaca, Chewbacca, Hope proposes to Blake to fulfill a request in her Grandmother’s will. This sets off a chain of events that are both amusing but also heartwarming.
This is a true ensemble rom-com because part of the wonder of this book (and all the books in the series) is the fantastic and hilarious supporting cast. Blake’s brothers and their respective women, most of whom were introduced in the prior books, as well as the neighbors in Happy Cat add in laughs but also so much heart. I wish I lived anywhere near this town so I could visit the craziness. But the animals were always entangled in my favorite parts of the book. They caused the loudest chuckles. The hangry but brilliant raccoon, George Cooney, the baby goat whisperer, Chewbacca (yes, and baby goats!), the two little hedgehogs, and the humans who love them. A well rounded, hilarious book that made me smile from beginning to end. I didn’t want to leave Happy Cat but now, I’m just waiting to come back :o) I received an ARC and am leaving an unbiased review.
Hitched is the third book in the Happy Cat series by the hilarious duo, Pippa Grant and Lili Valente. I love this series full of awesome families, funny creatures, and amazing friends. It can be read as standalone. There are four brothers in the O’Dell family and it was time for a third brother to get hitched. Again.
This isn’t the first time Blake and Hope said “I do,” but it is the first time they did it for an alpaca. It had been four years since they got married and had an annulment in the city of Sin. Since then Blake and Hope have been in this limbo of friendship between love and hate. He didn’t want to marry Hope again to just get hurt. If they were getting married then it was going to be real. He let her walk away the first time but he won’t make that mistake again.
Hope knew how to love animals but she felt she didn’t know anything about loving or being loved by a person. Her family was full of miserable people. Miserable marriages. She didn’t even know if she believed in marriage but now she was married twice. To Blake O’Dell. The only man who made her feel anything. It scared her. She had three months to stay married to him. Three months to keep her distance from her husband.
I can’t say more than that. I will say that I laughed out loud so many times. I fell for this couple and fell any more for the previous couples along with all of their nutty animals.
Overall…it’s a story full of passion, laughter, craziness, short circuits, and love.
P.S. Make sure to get the bonus epilogue.
Quotes:
Maybe it’s wrong to look forward to torturing my ex-wife with our second ill-advised marriage. But if it’s wrong, I don’t want to be right.
“I am not your beta, woman. I’m an untamed man-beast who eats rocks for breakfast and spits nails for lunch.”
“Because that makes sense.”
“Go on. Say it. You’re my alpha alpaca, Blake. That’ll be your fourth nice thing about me today.”
I want this kiss, this touch, this press of our bodies, to show her that I’m here.
One of my favorite things about Pippa’s books is that I often find myself surprised by how things play out. She and Lili might play around with the usual tropes, like this enemies-to-lovers story, but they’re not going to do so in a predictable fashion. The other thing I love: I know I’m going to laugh my butt off no matter how things unfold. This Happy Cat series is good, solid fun, with just enough conflict thrown in to make you throw a curse word in amongst the laughter. This book is a great addition to the series. I have been dying to find out the story behind Blake’s animosity toward Hope, who is such a neat character. She had such a depressing upbringing, yet she has such an amazing heart, and I’m glad Blake quickly realized all of that and showed her something she had never experienced from a person, only animals: true acceptance and love. Even if I hadn’t been a big fan of Blake and Hope, I would have loved this story for the critters alone. I wonder how much time Pippa and Lili spend deciding what kinds of critters to add to the mix, and what their names will be. So far, they’ve nailed it every time.
No one can make me laugh like Pippa and Lili. It’s a good thing I’m ok with looking like a crazy person when I read their books in public.
Even before they got their own book I knew I couldn’t wait for Hope and Blake to get their own book and holy exploding electronics did they not disappoint. I love me an enemies-to-lovers and this one hits you with a dash of fake relationship with a twist of of these two have been married before, say what?!
Hope is one lucky woman marrying into the O’Dell clan.
Plus no one writes better animal characters than these two. George Cooney returns and Chewpaca really gets his moment to shine.
5 crying laughing emojis for this book.
Pippa completely kills me. I love a book where you laugh out loud and enjoy the words. Love Pippa’s writing. I know what I am getting into when I open one of her books. The writing, the characters are well developed and flowed well. I can’t wait for more
Love these visits to Happy Cat and those gorgeous O’Dell brothers. This addition brings us the real story behind that contempt Blake seems to have for Hope St Claire. These two characters were introduced in Hammered (book 2) and we really saw the sparks flying even with all the snarky comments thrown at each other. I just knew there was something between them and was happy to have the answers. Pippa really has a way of creating animals or pets that become such an integral part of the tale and this is no exception with Chewpacca the alpaca. This was a fun, witty, quick read.
Back to happy cat, where I’m purring like a llama, joking, like an alpaca who has had the distinct pleasure of reconnecting with the O’Dells and the rest of the townspeople.
Blake and Hope have a fake marriage that is anything but that. However, Hope isn’t sure about how to love someone as she’s never had the right role model. Along comes Blake to the rescue and between them they save a fine specimen of alpaca, deal with rampaging kids, thieving trash pandas, feral kittens and a whole plethora of other animals, who kind of prove that Hope can do unconditional love, even though she doesn’t see it straight away.
Absolutely enchanting re visit to this amusing town with it’s familial occupants.
Hope still causes things to short circuit, including Blake’s heart. There’s electricity flowing in full force for this beautiful couple.
While this can be read as a stand alone, I strongly suggest starting with Hosed!
Another giggle filled romp in Happy Cat Georgia~
All of our favorite human and animal friends are back for another adventure. While this one is filled with all the fun filled, sexy times filled, chaos filled, laugh out loud moments I expected, I also got more than that!
Hope kind of sucked me in and broke my heart! No worried though! Blake and his family mended her heart and mine right along with it!
These two authors together are really too funny for their own good! Seriously, this book was my favorite Happy Cat book to date, and all because of Hope! Ok, and alittle because of Chewpacca and George Cooney, but mainly mostly because of poor Hope! Her roadblock to love was one SHE put there, good on Blake for seeing the truth and hanging in there until she could figure it out! I loved her, her sweetness, her big heart, and her ability to short out electrical equipment made for an amazingly heartfelt, riotously funny, smoking hot read! All the bonus points too for the hilarious animal antics and Blake’s general hotness, not to mention the peeks we had at both our other favorite Happy Cat couples! I hope we get Clint’s story to wrap it all up! Keep it up ladies, can’t wait to see what the last single O’Dell boy standing will wind up with, though I think we got a peek!
Hitched (Happy Cat #3) by Lili Valente and Pippa Grant is Blake and Hope’s story. The two of them have had a love/hate relationship for years. What we didn’t know was that years ago the two of them had gotten married in Las Vegas one weekend but had it annulled. Now Hope has to get married to fulfill a provision in her grandmother’s will. If she doesn’t do this before her selfish cousin she could lose her beloved alpaca and the rest of her animal. With all her previous choices a bust she calls on Blake. In true Happy Cat form this story was a laugh riot from the beginning to the end. At some parts of the book I literally was laughing out loud hysterically. Another enjoyable read that not only had me laughing but told a sweet story of two people finding their way back to each other. I could read stories from these to authors writing about this crazy town and the people who live there. 5 laughing stars for me.
I am absolutely in love with this series and Hitched is my favorite so far! I fell hard and fast for the sweet, sexy Blake. And I couldn’t help but want to be friends with Hope.
I just knew, with all the tension between Blake and Hope, that when they go together it would heat up the pages. But these two had so much chemistry I was afraid my kindle might short circuit.
I loved everything about their story and was hooked from the first page. I could not put this one down. I loved that not only did we get a fabulous second chance/enemies-to-lovers story, we also got to peek in on the couples from the previous books in this series. And of course more shenanigans from the beloved George Cooney.
If you are looking for a fun, sweet read that will have you laughing and swooning, then I highly recommend Hitched!!!
Blake and Hope are two of my favorite characters from Happy Cat. Hope can destroy electrical things and Blake is frequently the one who end up fixing them. The characters are developed with their distinct personalities and motivations. Their chemistry is amazing! You can feel the magnetism that draws them to each other. The banked and potent emotions between the characters leap off the page.
There are alpacas, raccoons, hedgehogs and more in the crazy, little town of Happy Cat. The O’Dell family relationship is strong, and the reader gets to know baby brother Clint a little better. I really enjoyed this book. The authors have a way with a phrase that makes a reader laugh out loud. I loved the hero of this book because he is just such an all-around good guy- and hot! He could rescue me any day.
Go back to Happy Cat, Georgia with this book, #3 in the series, and you will not be sorry.
I couldn’t read this book fast enough. I was so excited to get back to Happy Cat and hang out with all the great people and animals. Hitched is Blakes turn at love and his story starts out with giving you some back story about his first marriage to Hope. Their whirlwind Vegas weekend that ends with a quickie annulment. Hope is determined to believe she’s not meant for love and marriage, she comes from a long line of broken marriages and parents who aren’t the kindest to her and her life decisions. But when a will requires her to be married in order to keep her grandmother’s house and land along with all the animals she rescues, her only hope is to ask Blake to marry her. And he agrees because he’s still in love with her. Can he get her to admit her feelings for him are returned? Find out because you will laugh your way through this book with more antics that you’ve come to love when you visit Happy Cat.
I received an ARC copy of this book in return for my honest review.
Enemies-to-lovers, second chances and a fake wedding plus my favorite O’Dell brother? Yes, please!!
Hope and Blake have a long (complicated) history with a lot of animosity on both sides, but that doesn’t stop Hope from calling Blake when she desperately needs help….nor does it stop Blake from riding to the rescue. I loved both of these characters! Blake is swoony as the good guy who would literally do anything for the ones he loves. Hope is a fantastic heroine who would rather hang out with her animals all day than talk to people. And their chemistry is explosive (sometimes literally!).
This third book in the series is a fun, sexy story that I could not put down! Featuring the quirky residents of Happy Cat, an alpaca, and George Cooney, Hitched is another fantastic read by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente!!
Welcome to the next installment of crazy from Happy Cat, brought to us by two amazing authors! This book is a part of the Grant-Valente world, but can be read as a standalone. I have read most of the books before this, but have missed one. And it all still mostly made sense.
Love conquers all! Especially in Happy Cat. Even with characters have a crazy history and unique present situation. This was a most convoluted plot line, which had me confused in a few places; but laughing out loud as well as sad, happy, bemused and heart wrenching emotions the authors create with their words.
I liked the main characters, Blake and Hope. Each one individually is just good people. I liked their names, their personalities, their moral compass, and their quirks. They’re each trying to do some amazing work in their own lives, but are also hard wired to help people (and animals). These two are hard headed, but soft hearted. Together they have a fascinating story arc!
These two! Enemies to lovers provides us some fantastic backstory. They’ve got the history, they’ve got the sexual tension. Black and Hope sizzle in so many ways!
I usually burn through a PIppa Grant book. This one was a bit more convoluted to me. For some reason I had a tough time keeping a lot of the secondary characters straight, which caused me some trouble with the plot line. But I got through, enjoying the antics along the way.
I loved the way these two worked through all their troubles. I can’t wait to find the book I missed reading…and I really can’t wait for Clint’s story!

I devoured this frenemies to lovers, fake marriage deliciousness! Pippa & Lili have created the wonderful Happy Cat with its wild, wacky, and wonderfully weird inhabitants, human & animal! Blake (another wonderful O’Dell brother) and Hope have known each other since childhood and were once actually friends until a little drunken ‘what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas’ derailed them. Hope has a huge heart but she thinks she’s incapable of loving or being loved. Plus she can be deadly to the electrical grid. Blake cannot stay away from her. He wants to but he simply can’t resist her pull. And this is the story of when he stopped fighting and decided to woo his wife. I FLOVED them!! I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Hitched by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente had me laughing all the way through. An enemies-to-lovers romance where a fake marriage will solve everything, right? Hope wants to save her alpaca, so she needs to get married so her greedy cousin does not take it all away. Her and Blake have not had the best relationship and there is a lot of history there, but she needs his help. Can they really help each other and make it seem real?
Blake lost Hope once already, can this be the second chance he needs? Hope does not believe in happily ever after. Can she ever truly let someone in? Blake was caring and nice, but could he trust her again? Blake is determined to keep her this time, so all bets are off! Hitched by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente was such a fun read with delightful characters.
