Rosie comes home to Grand Junction to take care of her aging mother. The situation is difficult, but she’s dealing with it the best she can. Jake words for PASS, a company providing security services for a movie being filmed in Grand Junction. Rosie attracts the attention of Jake, and also the movie star Kyle Steele. This book has it all – hit and run, a dead homeless guy, blackmail, crazy friends, arson. But it also has a terrific, strong, smart and beautiful heroine who’s still finding her way, and an alpha security guy who’s built like a brick wall and only has eyes for Rosie. What I liked best about him was that he didn’t storm into her life making demands, he kinda sweet-talked his way in, only taking charge when she was in danger. This is a great opener to a new series, and was a pleasure to read. The action and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t put it down.

I have loved all of the books of Freya’s that I have read and was ecstatic when I saw a whole new series about to start and like all her work you are drawn into the lives of all her characters Who could ever forget Grant who works with our heroine.
Rosie’s life couldn’t be any worse if she tried She has returned home to care for her mother who is in the late stages of Alzheimer and it is debatable which is worse a mother who doesn’t recognise her or a mother who blames her for her fathers early death (he died of a heart attack nothing to do with Rosie) She had finally escaped and was living her own life until she was called home after people realised how bad her mothers situation was. Meanwhile she is working as a night housekeeper at a local hotel. A hotel that is currently full with the members of a film crew shooting a film nearby. That includes Jake Hutchinson a member of security comapny PASS and currently employed as bodyguard to the obnoxious star of the movie. He hates the job he has been assigned but he is a professional and he does get an occasional glimpse of the hot red headed night housekeeper as a bonus. When Rosie accidentally becomes involved in a crime and her life is put in danger Jake will have to decide does he keep securing the film star or does he change his care to the woman he is starting to have feelings for. Get ready for a roller coaster ride that will keep you intrigued until that very last page
This book is realistic in so many ways but the most noticeable is the characters. Real problems, real solutions, and just enough “fantasy” to escape the real world. The dual POV with Rose and Jake is very well done, each having a distinct voice. This is well written and has a great balance between humor and suspense.

The first book in the PASS Series and I want to read the next book in this series. A well written book with a great storyline and a story that flows from page to page. Rosie Perkins comes home to Grand Junction to look after her Mother, she meets Security specialist, Jake Hutchinson after she witnesses an accident. There is suspense, drama, danger, a very evil man, attempted murder, and romance. I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was so dramatic. And sooo good for it. I am not normally into a bunch of drama in a romance, but this one worked. I found it immensely enjoyable. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
Hit & Run is the first book in Freya Barker’s new series Pass. I found the story to be intense, and the twists and turns kept me guessing till the end. The characters Rose and Jake were an older couple, they were realistic, and they had instant chemistry. The secondary characters were interesting, and I loved Rosie’s best friend, his one liner made me laugh. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
Rosie is back in her hometown at the age of 42 to look after her mother. She has not had an easy life and it looks like it is not getting any better. Jake is part of a security detail looking after the stars of a movie filming in town. Jake has his own demons to overcome. When the unthinkable occurs it thrusts Rosie and Jake together and soon they can not fight their mutual attraction but what happens when Rosie finds out the reasons behind Jake’s initial interest does she forgive and forget or will their romance die before it really begins. With non stop turmoil surrounding them will they get a chance to just be together or will unknown forces snuff out their chance at love. This was a good book with lots of suspense and intrigue to go along with a sweet romance. Can not wait to read the rest of the series.

This is book one in a new series called Pass. Rosie feels like her life choices are taken away when her Mom needs her to return home to Grand Junction to help care for her. She starts working the night shift at the hotel in order to get some much needed income. Even though it is not much, her life is full and she has no room for more. Staying st the hotel is an actor and his crew. This actor is a handful and is not making things easy for his security detail. This is Jake’s job, keep the actor secure but he is proving to be a handful. Jake finds his peaceful moments are when he catches a glimpse of Rosie. These two characters are both hit for each other but can they find a HEA? These is so much more to Rosie and Jake that we learn as they learn about each other. Everyone comes with a past that has moulded them in some form but these two, their pasts and lives make for it’s own set of challenges for a relationship. This was a great story for a new series, will be fun to see what else is in store for the employees of PASS, Protection and Security Services. Enjoy!

Here we get a new series from Freya Barker. I have loved what I have read thus far from her. She was a new author to me this year. I have been able to dive right in to her romantic suspense with relish. I have loved unraveling the H/h and seeing what comes their way. Up with this one was Rosie and Jake. I love most of all that she deal with real adults that have some life experience under their belts. Each new story gives me character that I feel like I know or want to know more about.
I found once I was introduced to Jake and Rosie. I did not want to put it down. These two brought to the table their past, present and entwined their future together. The element of danger brings two characters together that would other wise not have truly met. Freya Barker gives you a story to savor and consume all at the same time. There’s thoughtfulness, truth, and feeling withing the pages. You have more than a wham right in your face romance or one-sided suspense. The blend of the romance and the drama and suspense of who wants to hurt Rosie makes for a good read.
I loved this read, but with what I have gotten from FB this year. I have loved them all. I can relate and connect with her characters without it all feeling drawn out.
Who is Rosie? Where is she and what does she do? How does she know Grant Peabody? What does he do? Who are Jake, Hutch, Dimi, and Kyle? This book had me hooked. There were definitely some funny times, but at the same time it was a suspenseful thriller with touches of mystery in it. I don’t even remember reading for so long that I fell asleep, until I woke up on top of my kindle. This book really set a good feel for what to expect from this series to come! Read and see what I mean and enjoy your read! Things are definitely surprising!

Hollywood comes to Grand Junction
Rosie and Hutch have instant attraction that takes a bit for them to act on. Lots of mystery and intrigue. This had me guessing up until the end. Secondary characters are great and hoping to see their stories as well.
Thoroughly enjoyable! I just love Freya’s stories. They’re easy reads with interesting characters, intriguing storylines, endings that nicely wrap up the story and are always superbly written. This one is a terrific start to a new series with a fabulous group of tough guys and gals in the security business. A dynamic group with skills and personality and great friendship. The interactions between the PASS staff are fantastic, especially the bond between our hero, Jake and the Mazur brothers, Dimas and Yanis. PASS takes on Hollywood with a new client that sets up house in a local hotel and is tasked with keeping the stars and staff of a film crew safe, and in the case of the entitled star, out of trouble. But trouble happens and drags one of the hotel’s employees, Rosie, into the fray. The unsuspecting Rosie doesn’t need anything else to deal with as her life is complicated enough but she’s in the wrong place at the wrong time and becomes the target of a killer. Luckily for her the broody bodyguard Jake is drawn to Rosie and makes it his job to keep her safe. The connection between the hunky Jake and the sweet Rosie is evident and electric from the beginning and the slow-build romance that develops is sexy and heart melting. Jake is such a bossy hero and his treatment of Rosie is panty melting. Just so happens that Rosie needs her panties melted along with her heart and she is so deserving. Such a great couple! The suspense is low key and the culprit is not too much of a surprise but there are a few tense moments as the killer goes after Rosie and her friend Grant. And speaking of Grant…I loved him! A sassy, fierce, hilarious guy that’s such a fantastic friend to Rosie and just as protective as Jake. The relationship that grows between Grant and Jake was one of the best parts. The work of the PASS group rang true and I’m looking forward to the next installment with these spectacular characters. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. 4.5 stars
I absolutely love books by Freya Barker. Her characters aren’t beautiful, with perfect jobs and lives. They have flaws and are real. Rosie is working as a hotel housekeeper, caring for her Alzheimer stricken mother, when she sees a man get killed. Jake works security, assigned to protect the guilty driver. While I had a hard time excusing their actions, fate made it all work out in the end. I loved Jake and Rosie, the suspense and the unexpected ending. Barker has another winner.

Rosie is one of the most realistic, likable heroines I have read in some time.
She is getting by.. barely. When she witnesses a crime she becomes the unintentional target of suspicion. Oh and someone wants to silence her. Enter Jake. He tries to not get involved, but he is pure yummy alphaness that wants to protect her at all costs.
The writing in this story is really rich.
The side characters are folks that you would want in your own life at your back.
They deal with real situations, such as the decline of Rosie’s mom’s health. All while a mystery unfolds around them.
The suspense of this story is a fantastic web that does not lead where you think it is intended.
Fantastic Five Stars all around!
4.5 Stars
I always look forward to reading a book by Freya baker because I know she’ll grab my heart, but also leave me on the edge of my seat. I was instantly sucked into this one. I literally had a hard time putting this one down. the characters had me so invested right from the beginning. I loved Rosie and Grant’s friendship. It was one of my favorite parts of the book, Then throw in Rosie and Jake. Sparks fly between those two. The suspense in this one kept me on my toes. I gobbled up this book to know what was going to happen next. If you’re looking for a book that delivers on the heart and heat, but also sucks you in until you’re finished look no further. I would highly recommend this one and the best part it kicks off a new series! Looking forward to the next book!
This one had a unique plot, a good mystery, and the perfect romance. I couldn’t put this one down!
This book was everything I love about this author!
She shines a star on ordinary characters and makes them extraordinary.
Rosie and Jake’s story was fantastic.
The best part about this story was the character development.
The story is well paced and it begins with Rosie fangirling on new guests staying at the hotel she works in. Soon thereafter, she finds herself in a dangerous situation when some very unexpected developments occur. Jake is asked to intervene and question Rosie but what happens starts their passionate and suspenseful journey.
In the middle of all this, Rosie has some serious family challenges which added a unique twist to the story.
Rosie’s character was realistic and relatable on so many levels. She finds herself in a situation that should be a real downer. However, the author took care of setting the stage in a sensitive and intimate way, giving the story more depth and complexity.
Jake was a rare diamond in the rough struggling with his own issues. His connection with Rosie shifted from business to an insta-attraction that was swoon-worthy.
The story had the kind of push and pull with a unique whodunnit twist that kept me fascinated from beginning to end.
The ending felt somewhat rushed but it didn’t take away from enjoying this book.
Go in blindly and enjoy!
4.5 stars!
I really enjoyed this story in the new PASS series! Rosie had to move back home to take care of her mother. All of her life she has been made feel like she was a disappointment to her mother but knew that the right thing was to take care of her. Rosie works nights at a hotel and there is where she meets Jake. The attraction is there for them both….a fierce and intense pull to one another that they can’t deny even to themselves. When Rosie witnesses something she shouldn’t of, its Jake that is there to investigate what happened. Can Jake make the right decision when it comes to his job and being with Rosie?
Their chemistry was intense, the story was very well written with twists and turns at every corner. I loved everything about it and I can’t wait for the next book in this amazing series. I highly recommend this book to all. Well done!!!!
I was so excited to find out this Author was starting a new series! This first book about Rosie and Jake kept me entertained from start to finish! I was able to connect to the characters…loved their age & maturity with real life struggles that we can connect with alongside the mystery, action and romance. I can’t wait to see who’s book is next with the members of PASS!
This was a good read. The book went by quickly and I liked all of the characters. The story was well written and I would recommend this book.
