Romantic Suspense has NEVER looked Sooo Good!
I found this to be a superb storyline that grabs you right from the start keeping you engrossed and on edge throughout the whole book!
Great characters that will keep your interest extremely well.
The chemistry, sweetness, and twists in plot kept things interesting.
Add in drama and steamy passion and you have a good read.

I loved this book! The connection between the main characters kept me hooked from the beginning all the way through till the end. I cant wait to read more from this author and to see what she has plan for the next one.
Very entertaining and enjoyable, great story of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I like that book is about mature,40 something years young.
Rosie life is a very difficult . She has come home to deal with her spiteful and critical mother and on top of that she has dementia. Not easy task…
Jake is part of a team that are providing a security to a film crew and its stars.
Rosie is in the wrong place and becomes a target.
The story is about Rosie and Jake but other characters are great too.
Lots of action and heartache in this storyline.

Freya Barker writes it, I will read it. Always. Her new series PASS begins with Hit and Run.
Rosie Perkins already has her hands full taking care of her ailing mother. Working as a housekeeper at a Grand Junction hotel, she sees a lot. Never did she think she would witness the arrogant actor staying at the hotel be involved in a hit and run on the property. Now she is the target of someone who wants her to keep quiet about what she saw. Step in Jake Hutchinson, security specialist hired to protect the actor. He’s not a fan of the arrogant actor but does his job in hopes to see the redhead that has caught his eye. Rosie is reluctant to get close to Jake but when she becomes a target, she has no choice but to let him help her. What she didn’t expect was to fall heavily for the hunky security specialist. Sparks fly and her world is forever changed.
I absolutely love any book that Freya Barker writes. She has a way to bring stories to life and forget you are reading a book. She can create a chemistry with her main characters that will make you fan yourself. Thank you once again Freya for bringing us this new stories. I can’t wait to see where you take us next.
This was an enjoyable read. I felt so much for Rosie and what she was going through with her mom.
Freya Barker continues to be a ‘one-click’ author for me and I was delighted when I heard she was bringing out a new series based around the stomping ground of some of my favourite characters of hers!
Jake and Rosie at first glance were very different but beneath the veneer there were similarities. Neither did relationships – he’s work driven and too focused on trying to forget things that still haunt him from his time in the services and she’s got family problems that overtake all else – and gods, the issues that Rosie deals with with her mother felt a little too close to home at times…. personally, that’s what makes me loves these books of Freya’s so much – Ms. B does real life issues and believable circumstances incredibly well.
Freya’s characters have snark, fun, humour and a multitude of issues and emotions that you can’t help but relate to, especially if you’re of a certain age as her characters are that bit older and have experienced life in all different ways. The suspense, twists and heat within the books all add to the depth of the stories.
Hit & Run is a really good start to the PASS series and I’m looking forward to more stories and delving deeper into the lives of the other security team members.
If you’ve already read Ms. Barker’s books, you’re going to love this one and if you’re still a Freya virgin, this is a great place to start as it’s a brand new series – and even though previous characters are in the story, you don’t need to have met them previously or know who they are to enjoy the read.
A solid 4* for me.
This story is a very good start in this new series.
I have to confess that one of the things I liked best was the fact that the main characters were older (40s) more experienced and complex individuals that what you usually find in this genre.
The main characters, Jake Hutchinson and Rosie Perkins have had to overcome obstacles in their lives.
Rosie is back home working in housekeeping at a local hotel so she can take care of her mother that has Alzheimer . A mother with whom a relationship has never been a loving one.
Jake Hutchinson, a very alpha man, works in security. His childhood was not an easy one, and those experiences definitely have molded the man he is today.
His latest job is protecting an entitled actor filming in town.
Little did Rosie realize that something she saw in the middle of the night , would not only put her in danger, but also would bring Jake into her life.
The plot was engaging, full of suspense, and of course, romance. The characters were complex – though at times I wanted to give them a little piece of my mind!
I wish to add that the narrators were very good.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook.
The narrators were very good.
The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Love is equal parts bliss and torture-it’s passion and fear-and once discovered, it becomes essential as breathing.” Excerpt from Hit & Run
I have to confess to being a huge fan of this author. Her characters are never perfect. They are flawed, struggle with life and have bad days. It’s easy to immerse yourself into their stories and you find yourself cheering for them, laughing and crying with them and watching them discover and believe that they can find love, too.
Rosie and Jake are just regular people. Rosie works nights in housekeeping for a hotel so she can take care of her mom during the day and Jake is an employee of PASS (Protection And Security Services) working a security detail for a high profile client. When Rosie witnesses a hit and run involving their famous client, Jake volunteers to get close and find out what she knows. He doesn’t expect to fall head over heels for her. When attempts are made on Rosie’s life, Jake vows to keep her safe and Rosie starts to realize how much this amazing man has come to mean to her. There was a lot of action in this book, along with some great plot twists and I couldn’t put it down. As always, the secondary characters bump this book up to the next level. Grant, Rosie’s best friend, is a hoot and a half and Yanis and Dimi, Jake’s friends are pretty great as well. Really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

I confess, I read Freya Barker’s stories for no other reason than the pure enjoyment of escaping into a well thought out tale. With just enough suspense to feed the mind and all the feels to capture the heart and satisfy the HEA lover in all of us.
The thing I admire most about the stories….her characters are real and believable. Real people, real emotions and no contrived, over the top angst because these characters are adults and they behave that way. I love it.
Jake and Rosie are both battered and bruised by their pasts, but they find their way forward…together. Of course, the way forward is full of detours, but oh so satisfying.
I can’t recommend this author highly enough. Trust me, if you haven’t discovered her yet, you should really fix that…soon!
I am loving Freya Barker since i discovered her work and this one does not disappoint.
Rosie and Jake make a perfect couple getting together in less than perfect circumstances. Danger, drama and diva actors all combine to make the inital get together less than stellar.
Great support characters and settings all add to an excellent story. Cant wait for the next one.
Love this book, it’s well written and the 2 main characters Rosie and Jake are a fantastic match. Rosie, sweet innocent and only back in town to look after her sick mum finds herself in the middle of a situation which brings her to Jake’s attention. Jake is part of a security team, who are charged with looking after the cast of movie being filmed in Rosie’s town. When the star of the show gets drunk one night, and Rosie witnesses him driving drunk and hitting someone, Jake has to find out what she saw and if she is going to report what she saw to the police. Events take a sinister twist and Jake needs to protect Rosie, but is he just doing his job and woooing Rosie, just to keep her quiet? Read on to find out !!!!
I have to admit my main reason for reading this was that I grew up outside of GJ, CO, and couldn’t resist a book set in my old stomping grounds; However, I enjoyed both the nostalgia and the plot. In addition to the mystery/romance, family issues also featured in this story. I appreciated the realistic way being a caretaker to a dysfunctional parent with Alzheimer’s was portrayed and felt like that added a lot to the story. Grant was my favorite, but all the characters felt like real people, even if Rosie and Jake were a little annoying at times. Or perhaps they felt real because they were annoying at times? Olaf actually didn’t feel so real, but whatever. Also, I’m not entirely convinced the motivations for the bad guy going after Rosie were entirely plausible, but overall it was an entertaining book and the start of a promising series.

I loved everything about this book. It was just amazing. I was on the edge of my seat for most of it. The characters were amazing.
Danger, Mystery and a very sexy Security Guard! What more could anyone want in a story! This book really had me hooked and drew me in right from the start. I thought Rosie was such a strong, amazing character. She was so selfless working nights so that she could be there during the day to take care of her mother. When she witnesses something unexpected one early morning taking out the trash she has no idea that her whole world is about to be turned upside down. Hang on, because you will be taken on one heck of a ride trying to figure out who is responsible for all of the drama! A must read book for sure! By Alisa
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
Yes, I love the style of Freya Barker. In the new PASS series, the protagonists are so wonderfully commonplace. A little older, with problems and not so perfect bodies. The author shows clearly in her new book, that you can nevertheless still be perfect for other people Rosie had to stand all her life alone, she finds it difficult to accept Jake’s help. She is a wonderful character straightforward and loves helping everyone. The style of speech is, as always with Freya Barker perfectly descriptive and so emotional . Many twists prevented me from finding the perpetrator , and I love this perfect mix of romance and thriller.
Since both characters, the small town and the problems of the people are so wonderfully commonplace, readers can completely loose yourself in the story and identify very well with the people there. To suffer, laugh and love with them.
I’m really looking forward to the next part ….
Conclusion: For all fans of Romantic Suspense an absolute must read. Unfortunately, Freya’s books are only available in English so far.
Here we go, a great new series from the one and only Freya Barker. And she started us out with a bang. This series is started out with Rosie and Jake’s story. What a couple!
Rosie has moved back to her home town to care for her ailing mother. She struggles with her care, paying the bills, and feeling like she has no one to lean on. Her mother was never what we would call a loving mother and as her condition worsens, so does the way she treats Rosie. So Rosie struggles through each day, until the movie company comes to town, she sees something she shouldn’t, and she meets Jake.
Jake, trying to prove his worth to his new employers, tries to keep a leash on the lead actor of the movie. But the actor is worse than any child you’ve tried to babysit. Now he’s got himself into a situation and Jake must choose whether he protects Rosie or does his job and protects his actor.
As usual, Freya’s new book has it all. Lots of suspense, angst, love, alpha male – tough female head butting, hot sex, best friend love, her books just have it all. She wraps you up in the story and makes you feel part of it. Rosie could be your best friend and Jake could be that alpha we all dream of meeting. Congratulations, Freya, on the new release
I love this start to the new series. As with all Freya Barker books, the main characters are immensely relatable and lovable. From the first page, I wanted this to work out for them. Rosie is wonderful, sexy and kind and certainly more forgiving than a lot of people. But don’t mistake that for her being a pushover she has a concrete backbone and knows what she wants. Jake is hot protective and all-round alpha but he is not bullish and overbearing. He lets Rosie take the lead when needed which I loved. The action is well-paced and keeps the story moving forward. One of my favourite parts of this book though is the secondary characters. Their involvement gives the story depth that moves this book into the next level. You go from reading a boo to living a story and wanting the best for these characters. I highly recommend this book and this author.
A great start to a new series. Suspense, some humor, twists and of course romance, the perfect ingredients to make a romantic suspense book great.
Rosie has come home to take care of her mother and is working the night shift at the hotel to bring in income. When she witnesses something she shouldn’t have, everything changes. Jake is in security and is assigned to protect Rosie but soon realizes he’s developing feelings that are more than just protecting her.

Solid 4.5 star
Life pretty much sucks for Rosie especially at home and now she has to contend with a sleazy guest, a hot Security specialist called Jake and the fear she has seen too much. This book is full of characters you will love as well as hate, a storyline that has you hooked, tense times, steamy times, love, laughs, sad times and some good twists and mystery. Definitely get settled before you start as your not putting this down until you get to the end as just when you think things are calming down something else happens and a new train of thought on who the bad guy starts as well as wondering will Rosie and Jake make it out not only together but also alive!!!

Not all crazy is equal. The nutty friend who either stays in with you on an ice cream binge, or drags you out to try to do something more festive than anything you can do in yoga pants – crazy good.
Crazy bad is a stalker ex, or a creepy, entitled pretty boy he is not used to hearing NO from anyone- and makes it his mission to get you to admit you really want to say yes to him.
Rosie seems to have a collection of both types of crazies around her. Throw in the Alzheimers, crazy gay guy pal Grant, and nurse friend Hilary- all she is missing is a hottie like ex army Jake. Rosie does not think hot like Jake would have any serious designs on her.
A great recipe for all kinds of chaos- some steamier than other.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout. I have read most of the recent books from this author on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited. Totally hooked!
