This was my first book by Tia Louise and I was not disappointed. I loved Molly and how her background led to her being the hit girl that she was, how she took things into her own hands to help those in similar situations to what she experienced. Then there is Joshua. His love for Molly was unwavering. I enjoyed that I got to experience things through both characters, I am a huge fan of dual or multiple POVs, I think that it adds to the story by allowing to have the experiences and feelings of more than one character. The blurb says that it is a standalone, and it can be read that way, but I have to admit that right from the beginning almost I felt that there is more to their story from another novel, it is even alluded to a few times when talking about how they met and ended up together. But aside from that small bit it was its own story and one that I really enjoyed. I definitely plan on looking up more of Tia’s novels and reading as soon as I get some free time!!
Clearly, I go my own way and Molly does too. I read Sundown in The Vault anthology. I loved it and wanted more but somehow (too many books on my calendar) missed The Brights Lights Duet. Have no fear if you are slacked like me, because I had read Sundown I had a general understanding of the issues. I knew most of the crew and was perfectly entertained.
Even with my lack of reading the whole Bright Lights Duet, I had a blast watching this book play out. Molly’s issues, Joshua’s, and of course the elephant in the room.
Hit Girl is intense and has plenty of feels. Even Molly shed some tears! I loved knowing what became of the mouse little girl so lost in her own torment.

I love this series! This is a stand alone story but it’s better after reading the Under duet. This author’s writing is authentic, beautiful and riveting. Such a great storyteller. I am so glad Molly grew up strong and bada$$. Such a wonderfully developed character that’s strong, sexy and resilient. And Joshua! He’s fabulous and just perfect for Molly. Great book!
Sexy. Provocative. And a major hit. Tia Louise has written one of the most thrilling, intense, and entertaining reads of 2018. Hit Girl might be one of one favorite reads that Tia Louise has written so far. This book was action packed on revenge, romance, and second chances. It took vigilante romance to a whole new heights as she had me totally smitten with the heroine and hero. So if you are looking for a story that was explosive, engaging and sexy then Hit Girl is the book for you.
Hit Girl by Tia Louise is the story of Molly, a young woman hell-bent on revenge and Joshua, the man who made her believe in love again. If you read the Bright Lights Duet then you will recognize these characters and be familiar with Molly’s back story but you may also be ready to write Molly off as immature and cold-hearted. This story completely turned my opinion of her on it’s head. She is a beautiful, strong woman with a loving heart and her issue is she cares too much. About keeping the world safe, about protecting the girls that are in the same danger she used to be and about keeping Joshua safe from herself.
Molly has made a home in Seattle with Joshua and while she is still pursuing her “list” of revenge, she is also trying to build a future. With one foot in the past though, it is difficult for her.
Joshua knows Molly is keeping things from her but is willing to let her open up in time. He has his own dark past that he isn’t ready to talk about yet either.
Well-written, well-paced, told in dual POV this story is complete with a happy ever after and can be read as a standalone but if you have the time and inclination I would recommend reading the books in the Bright Lights Duet first. Enjoy!
Tia Louise is an USA Today best-selling author, one with over 20 titles to her name. If you haven’t heard of her, what are you waiting for ? I have come to love any novel she writes. Each of her novels holds a special place for me. And Hit Girl is a page turner for anyone, those who are long-term fans and those just discovering her writing. She gets better with each novel and definitely hit the mark with Hit Girl.
This novel is a heart racing thriller, one you will not put down trust me. I sure didn’t leave anything to chance when I started it. The dialogue between the characters keeps you guessing what happens next. Hit Girl follows the storyline of Molly and Joshua. Molly Dixon had a troubled childhood. She’s lived her life trying to figure out how to fix everything that has ever happened to her, by going after the ones who hurt her. Her revenge never counted on Joshua Andrews, the hot philanthropist , who is hell bent on saving her. Determined to show her how someone can love you without hurting you. I fell I love with Molly. Her trouble past had me hoping for better things to come her way. And they did in the form of Joshua.
Tia is able to give you real troubles that some couples face, and she did a great job showing you a guy who is willing to work at it, while the girl is the one struggling with her past. I have read a lot of books where the guy is always the one needing fixing. I loved the idea of the strong independent woman, having to realize that she is still independent, and can love a man and still need him without being weak. Tia’s ability to get you into the character’s lives is a trait an author has to have to connect with her readers, for Tia that seems to be a natural thing.
A must read for the year. Trust me you will not be disappointed. Hit Girl is going to be burning up your kindle. You cannot go wrong with this new release by Tia Louise. Five stars.
**Review by Lindsey, Late Night Reviewer for Up All Night with Books**
It takes talent to give the reader a character as closed-off and ruthless as Molly and make them like and even root for her. Tia Louise does that and so much more with this story. Hit Girl is wonderfully written and fast-paced from start to finish. The story is a bit dark, but at the same time there’s love and even hope. Molly is a brilliant contradiction – tough as nails on the outside while completely broken on the inside. Joshua is absolutely perfect for her and his patience with Molly’s lack of answers is almost saintly. His love for Molly is almost tangible as he deals with everything he learns about her and settles on a plan of action. To sum it up, yes, this is a story about revenge, but more than that, it’s a story about love and finding your happiness after a lifetime of darkness.
The author has written a wonderful storyline that we can all understand and relate to (however 99.9% of us would never fact on those feeling). The story in simpler terms is that of a modern day vigilante who just happens to be woman, Molly. She seeks justice from those who sexually and/or physically abused her as a child and for other young girls like her.
To say Molly had a troubled past is an understatement. But she has overcome a lot. Molly and Joshua, her boyfriend, are running a home for raped and abused teen girls with nowhere to turn. Like Molly, Joshua comes from a wild and troubled past. But when these two together, they are a force to be reckoned with.
This book will keep you on the edge wondering who’s next, what will happen, will anyone get caught. What happens to their budding relationship when their pasts come to light? An exciting thrilling suspense you don’t want to miss out on. Highly recommend, you won’t be sorry.
Molly, if you remember, was Laura’s friend/sister/protégè sorta in New Orleans theatre in Bright Lights dries. When they have to abandon ship and run away to Paris, to save themselves, that’s where THIS story starts.
Molly has been troubled by the nightmares from Gavin, the theatre owner, and his paedohilic brother Guy
She finds a nice, caring companion in Joshua. He really loves her so worried, naturally, asks her to slow down on her missions. Molly is so driven, she rather leaves Joshua.
The angst is there, but I’d have loved to see Joshua as an equal character.
Molly is superhuman driven in her quest for justice, like only abused girls can
A very thought out and intense story
4 stars
Welcometo my world where I promise to get even with everyone that hurt me . The list grows longer with each young girl we rescue . I want them to pay, to hurt and to die for what they have done . That is the mantra of Molly the young girl who has been through so much in her young life . She is now older but still on a mission to kill those that do the unthinkable to young girls . She has grown older and a little bit wiser . Joshua is the love of her life . She loves him and he knows some of her past . But there are parts that she still needs to tell him and bring him in . They make a great team and with the time they will get their happily ever after .
The author writes with an intensity that will suck you in from the first page . The characters are complex and you can’t help but love them . Molly is such a tortured character . She has gone from a little girl to a woman who is out to right a few horrendous wrongs . But is she really a hero , a killer or a vigilante . You really don’t know you will cheer for her and shed a tear or two . You really get to see her finally grow and become the woman that the girls in the safe house needs to be . She finally realizes that she has it all and the men will no longer hurt her . Her love Joshua is a sweet guy who loves her with all his heart . He knows that she has gone through so much but there are things he doesn’t know but he loves her anyway. Josh seems to be able to keep Molly sane and safe with his own brand of love he has for her . Her mentor Stas is a character that you just don’t know what to think of him . But we find out so much about him towards the end of the book ,you just want to hug him and tell him things will be ok . He turns out to be a great guy . The rest of the gang is also back to help Molly when she needs it .
This is a great stand alone but it also fits nicely into the story of Lara and it is a great ending . The characters are really driven and you will fall in love with them. I must say I did have a little crush on Molly she is one driven woman with a passion. There are moments where I did want to strangle her a few times . The author takes us to some places that will make you go holy moly what did she just do to us . I will tell you this my attitude towards Molly so changes since first reading about her in the Bright lights series . I really didn’t like her in that series but in this book she really spoke to me , she won me over big time . So if you want a book full of intrigue and lots of sexy smoldering times . This book has it all for you . Check it out
I absolutely loved the Bright Lights duet and novella so when I finally got my hands on Hit Girl I was giddy with excitement. Molly has had a life made up of nightmares. Learning to deal with it hasn’t been an easy road. When she is gifted with the knowledge on how to handle the pain and suffering she takes it to the next level. And there she finds a release from the torment and a journey that sets her in the direct path of Joshua.
Joshua was introduced to us the second book of the duet. Now he’s got Molly in his life and he’s determined to be in a condition to protect her from this moment on. Still in the dark about her past, he knows he must take things slow or risk losing her forever. He could have never forseen the dark secrets not only in her past but in her present.
I didn’t get enough of this couple! When this book ended I wanted to immediately reread it. This couple were just so perfect for each other. Never could Molly have found another man who could be so patient and kind all while knowing she was hiding something from him. Joshua recognized the pain in her eyes and wanted nothing more than to chase the shadows away. He was a fierce protector even as he had to allow her to do things her own way and in her own time. I adored him for that!
This is such a well written story that was fast paced, dark, full of action, drama and plenty of steam. We once again meet with the characters from the original books as well as a few new ones. I’m hoping this author is going to continue this series (can a duet be a series?) with more regarding these new characters.
This was a fantastic read and one that should not be missed. Although you could read this one as a standalone, you would probably do better to read the duet and novella first but you’ll be glad you did. This is a series of sensational books that will remain in your mind long after you’ve finished the last page.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
~WRITING – PLOT – PACE~
To say I was excited to get my hands on this book would be an understatement. As much as I couldn’t stand Molly’s character in the previous book I was still super intrigued with the whole “HIT GIRL” out for revenge angle. And I was curious to see if this author could pull off the impossible and get me to LIKE (maybe even LOVE) Molly’s character. Hint…she DID. So on to the deets…the writing was fantastic (it always is with this author). The pace was perfect, and I never grew bored or felt the need to skim. The plot was engaging. This was a fairly quick read for me clocking in at just under three hours (the book ends at 75% on my Kindle App). It’s also told in dual POVs (Molly & Joshua). Last, it was all wrapped up in a very sweet and pretty much perfect ending. I’d like to think it was hinted that maybe there is more to come for these characters?
~HERO~
JOSHUA…I ADORED Josh. I loved him in the previous book and I ADORED him in this one. He was just a good solid hero. He was sweet. He was sexy. He had a huge heart. He loved Molly completely.
~HEROINE~
MOLLY…So it’s pretty much NO secret that I HATED Molly in the second book of the BRIGHT LIGHTS duet. I thought she was a self-centered brat. So I’ll admit I went into this book with a TINY bit of trepidation. Well, I am happy to say I DID like her more in this book. That said, whenever she had any interaction with Lara, Mark, or Roland she reverted to the nasty spoiled b!tch of the previous book. Luckily those times were few and far between. I loved how she was with Josh. I loved her relationship with Stas. I felt like she grew up in this book. She became a better person who thought more about others than herself.
~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
There was a nice array of secondary characters in this one. Some we know from the previous books (Lara, Mark, Roland) and a couple new ones (Dean and Stas) <--- I'd love to see both those guys get books of their own. Especially, Stas, he needs a happily ever after. We also get a brief look at another VAWRY intriguing character SHOOTER. I feel like she has a story to tell as well. A girl can hope, right? ~HEAT LEVEL~ Mediumish I guess. The sex scenes were suitably hot, and the frequency felt organic to the story and the main couple had good on page chemistry. ~ANGST LEVEL~ Low. This one didn't feel angsty to me at all. This couple starts the book already together and in love. There are a few bumps in the road. Secrets that come out. This causes a little drama but overall it was a pretty easy peasy read. There is also no OW or OM drama. ~IN THE END~ I enjoyed it A LOT. Certainly much more than I expected to given my dislike for Molly. You can chalk that up to this author's fantastic ability to weave a good story. Great writing. A great plot. Intriguing and well developed characters. It was the whole package. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two HUGE thumbs up and I REALLY hope that we will be seeing more of these characters in additions books.
4.5 star Review Hit Girl by Tia Louise
This was a gripping story from Tia Louise and I must admit I was riveted from the first to the last chapter.
Molly Dixon has a list of names that she is working her way through with every one of them deserving punishment for crimes committed.
Molly is one tough woman and it takes a might amazing man to not only capture but hold her affection. Joshua is just the man for the job.
Although a stand alone, it is connected to her Bright Lights duo so it may be good to read them first.
Joshua is determined not to push Molly about her past and just as determined to love and support her, no matter what. This is one of those books that will leave you reeling and shaking your head. This is a powerfully raw, yet gripping story that Tia Louise wove and is a great example of romantic suspense which I recommend.
What will happen when everything comes to a head? Can Molly and Joshua’s love survive or will it be destroyed? One click and find out.
A thrilling and suspenseful story that had me riveted from beginning to end. A strong heroine who is trying to avenge her painful past and a hero who fights for her every step of the way. I was leery of reading this book knowing what Molly went through from the first 2 books in this interconnected series; wasn’t sure my heart could handle her story.
I’m so glad I had the chance to read this book; it has become my favorite book of the 3. The transformation Molly has throughout this book is powerful and endearing. Molly and Joshua together are absolutely perfect. They understand each other in a way no one else does. Their chemistry and passion are electric; I loved them together. A story with all the feels. I highly recommend reading this book.
I was gifted this book and am leaving an honest review.
Hit Girl is just as kickass as I knew it would be. Tia has never let me down before, and she more than exceeded my expectations with Molly’s own story.
When Hit Girl starts, Molly and Josh are already together and in love, but he’s in the dark about her “occupation” and what she does with her time. But, he doesn’t care about that, he just loves her any way he can get her. And this right here is what I loved most about Hit Girl – Josh and his unconditional, sweet love for such a damaged character like Molly.
Molly’s story unwinds in a really appropriate way for her. It’s intriguing, intense, suspenseful, sexy and even sweet with the addition of Josh. I love how Molly grows as a character, how Josh’s love and their circumstances change her and smooth out some of her rough edges, but never completely polish her. She remains until the very end, a fierce, protective badass.
I will admit that I had my issues with Molly in the Bright Lights duet, because I just could not connect with her. I felt for her, but I couldn’t connect with her. Here, though, where her character and her story is fleshed out, I grew to love her like Josh did. I am not sure if I would have loved Hit Girl, though, if Josh’s character hadn’t been the sweet, gentle soul that he is. He’s such a contrast with Molly’s rough edges, and it is an exciting combination. I was a little worried that perhaps Molly would be paired with someone she would completely dominate, because she’s such a fierce character, but nope, Josh, though he’s gentle, he’s no pushover, he’s just loving. He’s the perfect complement to Molly, and makes her all the better for it.
I think this is a great conclusion to the Bright Lights story, though the epilogue certainly leaves me wondering if there’s a lot more to come from Molly, Josh, Stas, Dean, Roland and my favorites – Lara and Mark. If Tia has more planned in this world, I’d read it in a heartbeat, because I’m thoroughly in love with the exciting, sexy characters of the Hit Girl and Bright Lights world.
It is difficult living a double life like Molly is. Keeping secrets from the past that are forcing her to take matters into her own hands. And Joshua is so sweet, supportive and loving – but does not know what she is doing! If he finds out, will their relationship survive?
There were so many layers to this story. Drama, suspense, revenge and steam. I have not read any of the books prior to this one, so there were a few things that I was clueless about, but it did not detract from my enjoyment. I will need to read the other books to rectify it though!
Joshua and Molly will leave you breathless as they find salvation in one another. Molly has had little reason to trust others. She has seen the dark depths of humanity first hand and knows just how deep the scars run. She’s found a way to cope with the pain that polite society would generally find unacceptable, but in world of innocence loss sometimes you have to play outside the rulebook. She’s been hiding her vigilante crusade from those she holds dear and it’s starting to take a toll, especially with Joshua. She never thought after all she went through she would ever be able to let someone in, but little by little he’s made his way into her heart. Joshua knows that Molly has darkness eating her alive. He’s never pushed, always believing she would tell him in time but her walls just seem to fortify more over time. He wants in completely but can he handle wants behind the mask?
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
