He is the one that never looks her way.He is handsome and strong. He is rough around the edges and mean.He is everything she’s ever wanted. He doesn’t even know she exists. Her life is a joke.***She doesn’t step on cracks in the sidewalk. She laughs at inappropriate times. She talks when she shouldn’t.She is clumsy and trips on air.She is finally on his radar.God help her now.
A klutzy girl who is a school teacher, the hot jock coach. Raylee has loved Ezra McDuff since high school but he never looked her way until she fell in front of him at target and got hit in the face with his box of condoms. The fun starts there. Laughs and a sweet girl that gets herself into unbelievable mishaps. But as we read on the fact that Raylee has captured the heart of a man she has longed for so long makes the reader feel her longing and hope they come together. The obstacles they have to overcome are funny and take you on a sweet journey. Another southern charmed book with what else but a HEA.
Very cute story of 2 people who have lived in the same small town their whole lives, Ezra was the popular football player while Raleigh was the invisible girl. Raleigh has loved Ezra almost her whole life despite Ezra not noticing her until he drops a giant box of condoms on her face. Now she is all he can think about and turns out they work together. Ezra is determined to make Raleigh his. This was a quick, pretty much drama free book with some great humor and some cool characters. The audio book was very well done.
Ezra and Raleigh’s story is the first in a new series. And this one had me laughing from the beginning. Poor Raleigh, she really is the most accident prone person. And Ezra is finally really seeing her, after years of Raleigh being in love with him. Their lives cross paths quite a lot, but it takes him causing her nose to bleed with a box of condoms, for him to notice her. And when he does there’s no turning back, she is his.
I don’t know how Vale does it. She is able to write characters that are able to keep you engrossed in their story. You will find yourself laughing and also your heart hurting for Raleigh. I wish that there was more for Ezra and Raleigh’s story, but I know that they will be seen again.
Loved this story, as usual with LLV, a great read.
I haven’t had the best luck with Lani Lynn Vale’s most recent books/series. So while this one intrigued me and looked good, I’ll also admit that I didn’t have high hopes.
But I actually really enjoyed this book. I started it when I got home from work and ended up reading it in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down.
Love this series. Couldn’t put it down. Love this author. She pulls you in from the first chapter heading. Her book world is my escape from my norm.
Absolutely loving the newest series from Lani Lynn Vale! Definitely some laugh out loud moments in this book
And of course major steaminess…phew! The tub scene was epic!!
5 Finally Being Seen Stars!!!
Where do I start with how much I FREAKING LOVED this book?? This is my first book by Ms. Vale and I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to read her amazing words! I immediately connected with Raleigh is so many ways. She’s a woman that has been invisible to everyone in her small town by everyone but especially the star QB Ezra McDuff. She’s loved this man from afar for as long as she can remember.
Then one day, everything changes! All her dreams may be coming true but she has to keep herself from falling literally and figuratively for this man. Raleigh by far is the biggest klutz I’ve ever met in the bookworld and I couldn’t help myself but laugh at some of her accidents. There were some though that just about broke my heart. But Ezra, once he sees this beautiful woman he’s a goner in every way possible.
These characters are so well developed and I actually felt I was in Gun Barrell. Ms. Vale created a tiny town that I want to live in. Both Ezra and Raleigh love their families something fierce and there are some true comedic moments when it comes to Ezra’s niece Moira! There were so many comedic moments in this book. But also some that truly broke my heart especially when it comes to a young man named Mackie. This man changed so many people in Gun Barrel.
I loved the connection Ezra and Raleigh had. As much as she was a “hot mess” sometimes, there’s something about her that is heartbreaking at the same time. But Ezra is bound and determined to show her that she’s beautiful and loved by so many people including him.
This book is also full of lessons that everyone can learn from and touch so many lives. There’s also some actions that shocked me and had my heart beating a mile a minute. What it all comes down to for me is that this book has everything that makes a perfect story….love, angst, comedy, sexy times that are incredibly hot and ultimately an HEA that put the biggest smile on my face.
This book is super-cute. The heroine is so sweet and endearing you immediately identify with her. The hero is sweet in how he adores the heroine. I really like the characters.
Ezra may not have noticed Raleigh for a long time but when he finally does the sparks fly. I love and adore all of Lani Lynn Vale’s books, she never disappoints. This may have been a little different then the others, but it was just as good. She’s a fantastic storyteller.
It was cute and light. Ezry and Raleigh were teachers and high school drama on point. I enjoyed sassy… light-reading material… sexy.. and fun.. You had it!
Hissy Fit by Lani Lynn Vale was a sweet but steamy yet hilarious read. If you’re a LLV fan, you will enjoy this book.
I loved Raleigh and her lifelong crush on Ezra. It’s one of my favorite types of stories where the girl who has loved the longest finally gets noticed by the handsome, popular guy. There are some hilarious and sweet moments that have you laughing out loud then sighing.
Ezra was your usual popular jock—clueless and leaving a string of broken hearts along the way. When he finally notices the right girl, it hits him like a ton of bricks. I loved how they just came together so naturally.
I really enjoyed this first in the Southern Gentleman Series, and I can’t wait for the rest!
5 Stars!
Whew! I am a huge fan of Lani Lynn Vale and I already adore this new series! So many amazing things about these characters and this storyline! Tons of wit, laughter, and heat – this is Lani Lynn Vale at her finest!
I have fallen in love with the funniest, cutest and most adorkable character written by this author! She’s incredibly clumsy, trips on air constantly, causes devastation wherever she goes, she’s banned from attending football and baseball games due to the bad luck she brings. And yet, she’s an incredibly wonderful person, so generous and sweet, beautiful inside as much as outside.
Raleigh was invisible during high school. Ezra McDuff was the golden bad boy, star football player, life of the party. He never really saw Raleigh until now they are both teachers at the high school. He only noticed her one day at Walmart, when she caused an accident, made him trip and dropped a box of condoms on her nose, making it bleed. The incredible thing was that, once he saw her, she was all he could think about. From being invisible to being sought after by McDuff was a change of pace that threw Raleigh. And that change of pace caused more accidents and more funny sweet moments.
I loved this story, chortling as I read it. It turns a little angsty in some moments as is normal with this author, there are issues with family, with friends, and in this case with students. McDuff is sometimes clueless and careless with Raleigh’s feelings and has to grovel several times, but she’s so besotted that she forgives him. In her generosity and openness of heart, McDuff gets a lesson on love and what it means to accept a person, defects and all.
I’ve mostly talked about Raleigh because in my opinion she’s the star in this book. Even so, it has to be said that McDuff fell in love with Raleigh like a sack of potatoes and once she was in his life, he was the most besotted guy, totally devoted, not disturbed a bit by her accident prone nature. Rather, he was amused, tolerant, and protective. Loved this book!
6 Hearts
I’m a new fan of Lani Lynn Vale and I can’t even express how mad I am at myself for not reading her sooner! I was hooked from the very first page and literally didn’t put it down until I was finished! Lani’s writing is fresh, her characters so likable, the story full of fun, hilariousness, sexiness, suspense, more fun and more sexiness. Raleigh has had a crush on Ezra McDuff, the football and baseball coach, for the school where she teachers, since she was a little girl. Years and years were spent watching, fantasizing and wanting him. He never saw her. After one of her many falls, trips and crazy accidents, she literally falls at his feet. Then runs. Now he sees her, wants her and he’s not going to give up until he catches her. Raleigh can’t catch a break. She trips on thin air, falls over nothing and now she has to do it with Coach McDuff watching her. When he asks her out, she feel as if all her dreams have come true. She doesn’t hesitate to say yes and their first date ends in tornado of emotions and a sexy as sin romp that she’s been dreaming about for years. There are a few obstacles. But nothing is going to stop Ezra from making Raleigh his. She couldn’t put up a fight even if she wanted to. Can Raleigh forgive Ezra for never seeing her? Will Ezra make up for their lost time. I LOVED THIS STORY! So. Effing. Much! I laughed out loud while my husband just shook his head at me. I got hot and bothered, laughed more, cheered, cringed and fell hard and fast for Ezra. He’s sexy, smart, funny, loves his sister, best friend and nieces and nephews. Treats his players like men, would do anything for them. Loves Raleigh’s quirks and loves her more with each trip, fall and trip to the doctor. He’s not the same person he was when he was eighteen. He’s a good man and now that he has a good woman, he’s not going to let her get away. Every time he called her darlin’ I melted! Raleigh is a hot mess! But she cares about her students, embraces her bad luck and just can’t believe her crush wants her back. Better late than never. I loved how mature they were. They talked about their feelings, shared their fears. They are adults and acted like it! He didn’t have a problem with the teams, teachers, entire town knowing how much he wanted his woman!
This is one of those books that as soon as I was done with it I wanted to start it all over again. That’s how much I loved it.
LLV is a new to me author, I didn’t really know what to expect but I was so intrigued by the blurb that I knew I just HAD to give this book a chance.
I’m so happy that I did! Hissy Fit was laugh out loud funny, tender, sexy as hell and even had bits of angst and suspense to keep me frantically swiping to the next page.
I thought the h was endearing and extremely relatable in her awkwardness, and the H was the hot man’s man we can all hope to have but rarely do.
I only wish that some flashbacks were included. I’d have loved a little backstory with old interactions between the h and H just to get an idea of exactly how far they’d come.
I was under the impression he wasn’t always nice to her in the past, and while it was written off as him just not “noticing” her back then I just felt that it should have been acknowledged.
Like he should have groveled a bit. Would have served him right imo.
The H noticed her pretty much immediately, and while I enjoyed that I do think a little build up to get to that would have been perfect.
Nevertheless, this was a thoroughly well rounded read I truly enjoyed!
Raleigh and Ezra
Let’s start off by saying that this is an author whose books that I buy time and time again because everything she writes is just awesome, and she always creates wonderful character’s to love as well as fall in love with and this current read in this new series was just another great read with funny characters that we could not help but fall in love with yet again.
Raleigh is a school teacher with triggers and is also sweet, kind caring, beautiful inside and out hilarious and a major klutz but, had one of those infectious personalities because of her oddness but, she also thinks she is invisible when it comes to men. This woman was one walking disaster, but, and we totally loved her !
Ezra was one of those hotties that just melted your heart just by his action and deeds alone, especially when it came to loving his family as well as loving Raleigh. Ezra was a teacher as well as the school’s coach who was well liked and respected and when he spoke he commanded attention and pretty much his words spoken were law. He definitely made us laugh time and time again. We loved him from the onset of the story as he was loving, caring, laid back yet serious, had a sense of humor and hot as he** infused with a bit of cockiness and went to great lengths when it came to his students. We fell head over heels ourselves with him ! (grins)
We loved the story from cover to cover with all the great character’s that it had that you could not help but, fall in love with them. The story itself was so funny that we laughed throughout the entire story because Raleigh was just priceless! This couple was notorious for having sex in the oddest places ! (laughing out loud)
Raleigh and Ezra had some major chemistry going on and when they were together they were explosive together and so much in love it was super sweet, and they made the perfect couple. Can you say Hot ! Hot Hotter !
Raleigh had a major high school crush on Ezra and was totally in love with him from the moment they met but, Ezra back then was full of cockiness and himself and too busy chasing tale but, as a man he has now he has no problem seeing what is right in front of him now and that is Raleigh, and he is kicking himself for not seeing her all those years ago. From the moment they knocked heads years later, he somehow knew she would be destined to be his, and he would do anything to make it so. I really loved their odd courtship and loved that all the things that Raleigh disliked about herself were the things he loved about her the most, added to his attraction to her in the first place. Awe….
This was one heck of an engaging, funny read that had us laughing out loud the entire time and could not put it down. The author did an amazing job starting a new series off with a bang. We loved the plot that was infused with the perfect mix of all the things we loved but, most of all, we loved that nerdy girl got jock after-all even if it came years later and that it’s a reminder that your dreams do come true sometimes. For me, I loved how fate put this couple in each other way years later because Ezra needed to grow and become the man he is now because the man back then wouldn’t have been the sticking around kind and uncap-able of loving anybody but, himself but this new man is capable of giving his women everything she deserves, and his prime goal is to see to her happiness ! And the ending to this story was just priceless as well as perfect! Well done !
A recommended read to all!
First of all, I love Raleigh & Ezra together. A few bits of this story annoyed me, however. They’d gone to the same school all their lives, live in a small town, and end up working at the same school. Yet, we’re supposed to be able to believe that he doesn’t know who she is, at all. That was a bit too much of a suspension of belief for me. Also, the … I don’t know what to call it. The mystery storyline? That also didn’t really make sense to me. I just spent a good portion of the story confused by several things, so that annoyed me.
However, despite that annoyance, I also laughed out loud a few times because Raleigh is FUNNY. I love her spark and personality, and her love and compassion for her students, even when they might not deserve it. Ezra, once he got his head out of his butt, really was swoony, sweet boyfriend material. Once he committed, he COMMITTED and did everything he could to put Raleigh first, keep her from getting hurt, and let her know how much he loved her.
So, overall I enjoyed the story & especially loved how the Epilogue turned out!! : )
I’m such a huge fan of Lani Lynn Vale she has written incredible stories that drew me in to the very end and Hissy Fit has got to be one of my favorites so excited to read what’s to come in book two in the southern gentleman series . Loved Ezra he is just WOW the things that man can do just magic liked how he is with the heroine and finds her quirks adorable . Raleigh’s just awesome she really made the story for me with her little ” incidences ” and kind heart .These two really were made for one another they just clicked plus they shared some pretty steamy scenes . SO CAN’T WAIT TO READ MORE BY THE AUTHOR , if she’s new to you you definitely need to get her books as soon as possible .

Raleigh has had a crush on Ezra since she could remember, the only problem he never noticed her. Even now that they had gone to school and college together, he was oblivious of her especially since they work together. When Raleigh is assigned to take over Ezra’s sex ed class she gets noticed. Of course the incident at the store put her on Ezra’s radar and now Ezra is wanting to get to know the quirky woman who puts a smile on his face. Will Raleigh finally get the man of her dreams or is Ezra just playing the field?
Hilarious, this is laugh out loud can’t put down type of read. Loved Raleigh, she is unique as a character and a bit of a clutz. Loved the family surrounding both of these characters as well. A must read for Lani Lynn Vale fans.
