Successful LA narcotics detective Tanya Bullock always gets her man — when it comes to cleaning crime off the streets, that is. Her work is her life, and she has no time for personal relationships or clinging to other emotional lifelines like religion. After she becomes critically injured in the line of duty, she chooses a remote dude ranch in Wyoming to take her mandatory R&R.Unfortunately, … R&R.
Unfortunately, the Broken J Ranch is also the place where co-pastor Wes Rivera of Alpha Omega Campus Ministries has chosen to escort his students on a retreat. He’s the one guy from her college days who she failed to scare away despite the three times she turned down his offer to date, and she’s certainly not in the mood for romance while nursing her wounds and mourning the tragic loss of her partner.
But Wes sees things differently. He’s always believed in living life to the fullest. And with a little help from the Big Guy Upstairs, he plans to convince Tanya she can have it all — a dose of faith, a full recovery, and him!

Tanya, a LAPD officer, needs some R&R after being shot. She books a stay at the Broken J ranch. Wes is with a group of students on his way to that same place. He’s beyond happy to see her again, she isn’t, but not because she doesn’t like him. Will he finally gets the date he’s wanted so many years ago? Can he help her to heal and find her way to God?
Entertaining Christian story, I liked it a lot. Can’t wait to read Patty’s story.
Great read!! Loved the book and the characters!! Ready for the next one!!
A short feel good story sure to entertain, thrill, and mesmerize you as read it. It can be read in an afternoon or less. Leaves you wanting to read more about the future wedding.
This book has it all; action, adventure, drama and romance. This is a clean christian book that I really enjoyed reading. It is very well written and the author makes the book come to life in your mind. I received a free copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Wounded LA detective, Tanya Bullock, never dreamed of finding herself recuperating at the same dude ranch as Wes Rivera, pastor and chaperone of 6 reformed teenagers. To add to the tension Wes has loved Tanya since their college days. Jo Grafford does an excellent job of weaving these factions together. She doesn’t paint it all as instant harmony but allows real feelings and tensions to be expressed. This is an excellent example of how God’s love can bring opposing sides together. I really enjoyed this book.
This was so good, it was fun, suspenseful and inspirational. I didn’t want it to end. I wanted to know more about each character. If you like clean inspiring stories with heart, I highly recommend ‘His Wish, Her Command!’
I enjoyed reading His Wish, Her Command. There’s enough backstory to get a good feel for the main group of characters, all of whom are likable. Besides romance, the plot contains tension and suspense. It moves very quickly. Honestly, I would have liked the story to be fleshed out more. Some things just seemed to happen too quickly. The dialogue flows well, and there’s a great HEA. I got this book through KU.
I enjoyed this book very much! Tanya was dead set on every getting married because she was a detective with the LAPD and her life was in danger every day. She didn’t want a husband to deal with that, nor did she want to leave children behind. Well, Wes Rivera had been in love with her since college and although he’d asked her out several times, Tanya had always said no. When Tanya was severely injured in a drug bust, she is sent to a dude ranch in Wyoming to recuperate and guess who happens to be there too? Yep, Wes is a youth pastor now and he’s brought some of his youth to the same dude ranch to experience life outside of LA! This time he’s going to try to open up Tanya’s heart to the possibilities of “them”. I enjoyed the “rough” kids that Wes brought along. Tanya and the kids were so good together! I really recommend this book!
Jo Grafford has written a delightful, contemporary second chance romance filled with suspense and God’s Grace and Love. The setting of a Dude Ranch in Wyoming where a group of city dwellers have come for rest, relaxation and new adventures is the perfect backdrop for the rekindling of Tanya and Wes’s unrelationship. I loved how Tanya and Wes found each other and worked together towards their HEA. His Wish, Her Command is a wonderful contemporary romance and I highly recommend it.
