This book is so good!
I don’t even know where to start with this review this book is so good. I found myself really feeling bad for Mason and then being angry with him and them falling for him along with Emily. And Emily just wants to fit in and find love. It’s an emotional journey for both and they will take right along with them but there is a happy ever after, I promise.
Again, it deals with the BDSM lifestyle and it’s many, many variations so if that’s not for you don’t read this book.
A great beginning for a spinoff of a spinoff.
The first book in this is his unexpected love, his scandalous love is the next book and then there’s this one.
I can’t wait for more of this series, I want to say more about this story but I absolutely hate spoilers, so I won’t go into details.

The second book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone without any troubles.
Mason is a bit of an ass to be honest. he blows hot and cold and does things any good Dom would avoid, but he is also loyal, strong and torn apart. Which makes him an interesting character.
I loved Emily from the start. She is smart, sassy, but also hurt deeply by past events. She is very passionate about her work and goes for what she wants. She made me laugh a lot
When she and Mason get together it is not just sparks, but fireworks. I really enjoyed this book
3.5 stars rounded up.
When Mason and Cole’s lodge and restaurant are embezzled from by the chef who was warming Mason’s bed, they’re on their last few dollars. They need a new chef to bring back some business, and Emily Fox is hired. For some reason, from the very beginning, Mason is hostile and antagonistic to Emily. Yes, she’s sassy and vibrant, but something else bugs him about her. Probably the fact that something in her calls to his inner Dom. Thank God he’s not able to resist her lure for long, and soon they’re having a hot encounter to set the kitchen ablaze. Unfortunately, Mason blows hot and cold with Emily. One minute sexing her up, the next ignoring her and acting like she doesn’t exist. It was this hot and cold attitude that ruined my enjoyment of what was otherwise a pretty great story.
I wanted better for Emily, for them both, than for him to be so back and forth with her that it about gave her whiplash. I liked seeing her able to explore her submissive tendencies and explore the lifestyle with him, and I think he did a good job of introducing her to the ins and outs of light BDSM. But I just could not get past the first half where he was so hot and cold with her. It ultimately caused me take off half a star. I probably should have even downgraded to 3 stars, but I really liked the second half, and the chemistry Emily and Mason shared.
This book had too much animosity to be that enjoyable for me. Emma and Mason never seemed to stop.
How are you going to be antagonistic toward someone and then be upset because she was nice to your brother, who was nice to her?
Then there was Emma being just as unpleasant to Mason. All the back and forth with them got to be tiring. I did like reading about the food she made, or I might have just been hungry.
Mason really needed to get over what happened and Emma needed to chill.
I’m on a Cuffs and Spurs binge. It will be interesting to read Cole’s story.
This pair left me dizzy with their push me/pull you dynamic. Mason couldn’t see to make up his mind whether he trusted Emily or if he was going to continue to blame her for his ex’s mistakes. Emily seemed to only have two settings: in-your-face b!tch or running scared with no discussion about what happened. I appreciate that they’re both strong characters. I wish they had been consistently strong instead of yo-yoing back and forth so often, though. I could see what drove most of Mason’s actions. I didn’t understand what made Emily so confrontational, and that in-your-face attitude turned me off of her. I would love to see the subs in this series stop blaming their bratty behavior on their poor nutritional choices. I realize that “hangry” is a legitimate emotional state, but it’s still no excuse for behaving like a rude jerk. Unfortunately, it’s not just the poor nutritional choices where Emily’s bratting stops. That was about all I ever felt like I saw of her: an obnoxious, mouthy, sarcastic brat. Nothing like the professional chef and businesswoman we’re supposed to believe she is. I love that these two finally get over themselves, but I thought the resolution happened too easily. I also wasn’t a fan of Mason taking the blame for everything that wasn’t working between them. It took two to tango, so it should have taken both of them to make it right again.

Mason Stewart and his brother Cole owned and operated the Black Elkhorn Lodge and Resort conceptualized by their parents and actualized by themselves. Mason ran the lodge and restraunt where Cole took care of the outdoor activities and tours. Until recently, Mason considered himself an excellent judge of character and being a Master Dom arrogantly prided himself on being able to read people. Then they’d caught their chef embezzling almost everything and putting them in near bankruptcy. Emily Fox had been a sous chef for four years, so when Mason had contacted Le Cordon Bleu on the west coast she was recommended. After a phone call and several e-mails, they were hoping she could bring the restraunt back to life, saving reservations and bringing in a much needed revenue before they lost it all. For Emily, after her epically quitting her last job in a fit of righteous indignation, this was her chance to save her career and herself from crawling back to family as a failure. Perhaps even garnering the respect she so desperately wanted from her perfect parents and siblings. Once again Anya Summers has taken us into a romantic relationship with BDSM scenes, a solid plot and characters with relatable personalities that are just drool worthy. We revisit old friends and meet new ones. You don’t want to miss Mason and Emily’s story!!
