Having a hot boss isn’t complicated or confusing at all,Said no one ever… affection.
In the end, I just plain wanted to crush him.
Now he’s back, and he might as well have “do not touch” printed on his chest.
One tiny question: would it count if I didn’t use my hands?
Let me answer my own question. Yes, Emily, you raging horndog, it counts. Besides, my dream is practically waiting for me like a perfectly wrapped, shiny little package if I can just behave. I’d be an absolute idiot to risk that, and I have a long, proud history of not being an idiot to protect.
Unless it’s kind of like when you do really well in class all semester so you can afford to flunk a test at the end. Three months is a long time, and if he’s the one giving me the big, fat, dirty “F”, it does add a little dose of temptation to the equation.
But all I have to do is one quick job for him. A few posters and a few props for a big Halloween party that he’s hosting.
Then I just walk away from his dreamboat eyes and perfect body, grab a plane, and forget about all the beautiful children we could’ve squeezed inside our white picket fence.

It started in high school, in a Home Ec class. A young woman, who loved painting and art, was paired with the young man, the popular jock guy. The class assignment was baking cupcakes. She was okay with baking, but he was a natural. Now add to the storyline that mr. popular guy was dating the mean girl from school. Then it happened…the art girl was humiliated in front of the school, and worse popular guy didn’t do anything about it.
Back to the present…Emily is just finishing teaching the art class at the assisted living home when a familiar voice calls her. When she looks over, she finds herself being introduced to the hot man standing right next to the familiar voice….Ryan. The very same popular guy from school all those years ago.
Ryan is now the co-owner of a bakery, and in need of some help with some paintings. He is throwing a Halloween party, and it is being held for his bakery and the business owned by the twin brothers. Bruce (from His Banana) and William (from Her Cherry) as well as their wives, and Ryan’s roommate. Next thing you know Emily has been hired to do the paintings for that party.
The many matchmakers make their appearances throughout, but key players are Natasha and Bruce, Hailey and William, and the ringleader of them all is Grammy! The only problem is neither Emily or Ryan are wanting to be set up – or at least that is what they keep telling themselves. Broken hearts from bad choices is just one similarity they share. Not to mention Emily is leaving the country soon. Yet, we all know that when fate gets involved, fate wins.
Scary movie nights, talking, shopping for art supplies and trying to find the perfect place for Emily to paint, not to mention fate’s minions known as the matchmakers are in play – yep….all roads are leading to a very certain path.
But just as certain as fate has a plan in motion, you find fate’s fickle side, and it is rarely hidden. Just when Emily and Ryan decide to give it a try, a surprise call for Emily happens. Ryan pushes her to take this chance. Walking away for both of them only leads to hearts breaking and tears. In a last ditch effort, Ryan teams up with the matchmakers and devises a plan to win Emily over for good. Stunt after stunt happen, and nothing seemed to go according to plan, however, something Ryan does catches Emily’s attention. There is a delay due to the stunts, suddenly apologies, admissions and the actual point behind the plan is revealed…the happy ever after was just icing on the cupcake.
While this review may seem like a lot of complaints I really do still recommend the book as an enjoyable and fun afternoon read. That said… I expected to laugh a lot during this book because I found the last one, “Her Cherry”, hysterical. I was sad to only get giggles out of this one. That’s not the say the book wasn’t still quite good but it wasn’t as funny. The characters were likable with pretty good chemistry and the end felt more like a happy for now instead of a happy forever. I hope to see more from this series. Enjoy.
***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
More match-making merriment
Penelope bloom has got a good thing going. The sweetly sexy rom-com series that began with His Banana and His Cherry now progresses to His Treat, and all the laughter, outrageous repartee, and improbable situations that characterize the fruit versions are fully in evidence now that we’re into baked goods. Bloom’s world is a small one, and principal characters from previous books participate and even instigate the Rube Goldberg romantic set-ups of Ryan – baker, businessman, and every girl’s celibate best friend, and Emily – determined and sassy artist on the verge of achieving her professional dreams. Ryan’s plans NEVER include women and romance in the same paragraph, while Emily does feel the need to have her heart broken right before she hits art school in Paris… but they click. Despite the efforts of the friends, roommates and relatives and other local lunatics who love them, Ryan and Emily reach HEA – but getting there is what it’s all about, and I laughed and giggled my way through this comedy of errors. His Treat is just sweet enough, a bit spicy, and W-A-A-Y too much fun. I want more!

Nutty and over-the-top…3.5 stars!
His Treat is entertaining. That being said, there were parts of the story that seemed forced and over-the-top implausible, especially the fake robbery and elevator scene. Ryan and Emily are sort of thrown together by William Chamberson’s wild-hair scheme to matchmaking these two.
Ryan’s luck hasn’t been good with relationships so his default mode is to friend zone women who are interested in him. He hires Emily in helping him with a Halloween party for people at The Bubbly Baker and Galleon Enterprises. Remember Bruce and William are twin brothers who own Galleon Enterprises and they have their own story in the first two books of the series, His Banana, and His Cherry. Both are really funny and entertaining and I really enjoyed reading them.
In January, Emily has the chance for art school in Paris. For the next two years, she’ll be living her dream. Can she risk engaging her heart with Ryan even if it’s a fling? Will she be able to walk away from the man who makes her heart melt? It was fun seeing the other characters from the previous books. If you love over-the-top pranks and just plain shenanigans that will spin your head, this is the book for you.
This is the third book in this amazing series, and is Ryan and Emily’s turn. These two try to avoid a relationship at any costs, yet well meaning friends try to help them along, turning their scheming into chaos. This is a well written short read, and a hilarious comedy, which had me hooked throughout, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author, and highly recommend for all.

Solid 3.5 star
Emily and Ryan knew each other in high school and now she is working for him doing some art work for an upcoming Halloween party only she remembers him but he has no idea who she is. There were parts of this book I really liked like how Emily and Ryan tried pushing each other away for different reasons but failing miserably with some good banter mixed in, but other parts I was not as much a fan of, I mean really the pranks that William and Steve were just too OTT. Having not read the previous 2 books in the series I presume this is normal behavior for them? All in all it was a nice read with some good laughs and likable characters.

His Treat Book 3 of Objects of Attraction series by Penelope Bloom
WOWZA!! I have fully enjoyed this series! What an entertaining, hysterical, page turner! Fantastic!
I do recommend!
When Emily gets the letter that says her dream is finally coming true, she holds on tight to it. But then she gets offered a job by the boy in high school that sorta decimated her heart, and she’s torn. She needs the job Ryan is offering her to tide her over until January when she leaves for Paris, but working with Ryan isn’t exactly what she wants, nor what she thinks she can handle. But wait, it seems as if he doesn’t recognize her. So she can do this, right?
I have to admit I’m kinda torn about how to rate this one. On one hand, I thought it was sweet and cute and Ryan and Emily are both adorable. On the other hand, the pranks played by William (from Her Cherry) and Steve, Ryan’s roommate, are pretty douchey, THEY’RE pretty douchey. And uncomfortable and cringe-worthy. Yuck pretty much. And I didn’t really feel the connection between Ryan and Emily. Yes, they were cute together, but passionate? Not really. I didn’t feel the strength of their connection until the epilogue, honestly. And that’s not exactly the hallmark of a great relationship if it doesn’t seem strong until the last minute. This is definitely not my favorite Penelope Bloom story, definitely my least favorite of this series. But, it’s not horribly written or anything. It’s just a bit bland and the secondary characters were horrible. So I guess 3 stars is fair.
OMG! I love the characters throughout the story. We get to see so many of them from the previous stories. He was and I think still is my favorite character and that is William. It was fabulous seeing him and Grammy in this one. Ryan was an absolute gem. He is sweet kind, caring, and even loving. Emily is this sweet and intelligent lady. I loved the banter between the two of them. There are so many antics throughout this story that it will have you laughing so hard. It definitely worth reading and doesn’t disappoint.

I LOVE Penelope’s Treat stories! I was wondering whom I had missed in the last two books for Penelope to add to this fun collection but it is Williams not so fun secretary’s niece.
Ryan and Emily are made to work together for a Halloween party for the company. Ryan needs an artist and Emily is that person. But when they meet it is a weird chemistry that makes them a great couple. They both seem to know each other but can not pinpoint it.
This is a great addition to the collection!
Book three in the Objects of Attraction series and I will say read this book!! I could not stop laughing if things could go wrong for Ryan they did especially when he tried to impress Emily. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review…I tried to like the book, but we kept getting from bad to worse..These were supposedly adults but they acted like children..Yeah I think I am getting off this train and saying goodbye.
Lots of laughs for this rather cute romance
I found the story well written with a lot of humor, and some characters are even more crazy than in the previous episodes (this part can be read without having read the previous books).
The main characters are Ryan and Emily. She has to study art in Paris, but she has to wait 2 months before leaving. Ryan offers her a job in the meantime. He did not recognize her but she did: they were at the same high school and she had a crush on him until he betrayed her, well, that’s what she believes. They both try not to succumb, but Ryan’s friends, Steve and William concoct stupid and dangerous ideas, and it’s obvious that they’ll come back to Ryan like a boomerang. However, these are the most hilarious scenes, when everyone’s plans do not go as planned.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received an e ARC of this book from the author and I am happily and voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I really love this series. These characters are deep in my heart and I am glad that they are reapearing in the sequels.
Ryan is a really sweet guy. He had a tough experiences with girlfriends in the past so he guards his heart really badly.
Emily is quirky and artsy. I really love that about her. She is who she is. Doesn’t wear a mask and has her heart on a sleeve.
I am glad that they found each other.
From previous books I had a suspicion that Ryan is on the other side, but he just hadn’t met the right girl yet. So all of the girls that he meet are automaticaly friendzoned.
The story made me laugh, especially William and his shenanigans. But I was also on the edge as what was about to happen at the end.
Great job Penelope. Bravo!
It’s sexy and funny and so much more!
I know that this book is about Emily and Ryan, but Will+Steve… Oh my god! They were just ludicrous. I was laughing out loud so many times while reading their story. This is my type of humour and I love the writing style. Fast paced storyline with fantastic characters. Couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to check what is the next funny thing they would say or do. These guys are just hilarious.
And Emily with Ryan when finally given the second chance to be together were trying to fight against instant attraction as not to have their hearts broken due to expiration date of their romance. Finally when they give it a try unexpected happened. I loved all the sudden events and the ending was just cherry on the top – totally comedy of errors 🙂
My first encounter with a Penelope Bloom book and what a ride it was. I pretty much laughed through the whole thing. It was spot on for a comedy of epic proportions. Ryan and Emily try so hard to not be in a relationship and friends try to “help” them to be together and the outcome is hysterical. Both of them have their reasons for not being a relationship and they are legit. I understood the concerns and I also saw that their friends do truly want what is best but it isn’t always well thought out ways of helping. So strap on your seatbelts people because what a ride it is!
I will definitely be checking out other books by Penelope Bloom very soon.
Penelope Bloom has just become one of my new favorite authors with her book His treat, I fell in love with her writing style, word building and the way that she made the characters seem to just jump right off the page, but what i love most is how she has truly show how much one can change in a few years from high school to adult hood,
Emily was always your next door girl with art in her blood, but always having to circle around to get back on the path she knew she was meant to be on and that was to be in paris for art school. but sometimes her path always forked to the right. but now that she is a little older and somewhat wiser she knows now is the time to act and take the leap of Faith and do what she has always had in her heart. When a job comes up to where she can truly show what she can do will her heart get in the way or will she stick to her path?
Ryan Pearson has always been on the bad side of relationships, meaning they never worked out so he always thru his time into his work, but now that he has put his time in growing a business that was pretty much put in his lap he has now decided love is what he needs, but first he seeks the help of Emily for a project for a party that needs to be done, he knows he seen her from somewhere before but he cant place where. Can he win the girl of his dreams or will it all crash and burn around him like everytime? only time will tell if Ryan Pearson will get his Happily ever after.
If i could give this more than 5 start you can bet your butt i would i cant wait to see where Penelope goes with the rest of these characters im truly in awe of this story. its fresh and just what we need as readers.
5 stars
This is the third book in this series and it started out with making me laugh again, it seems this author has a knack for the funnies and making you understand her character’s from the get-go.
William is back again as a side character but that doesn’t stop him from being the life and soul of the party. As for Lilith she was hilarious with her dark and twisted demeanour and brought a balance to the craziness of William.
I was laughing at and along with all the characters from the first two books in this series, they all appear in this book along with a few new ones which I hope will get a story of their own especially Lilith.
The dynamic between Ryan and Emily is enhanced by all the others bringing a truly light-hearted book which will keep a smile on your face.
Cheers to another absolutely delightfully delicious entry into this incredibly enjoyable series. This is a slapstick, zany, over-the-top, rollicking romance that will make you laugh until you cry, while also heating up your kindle and melting your heart. Ryan and Emily were so adorable together. I loved this finding love when you’re not looking romance. I hope to see many more entries in this refreshing, lighthearted series that provides readers with all the feels but doesn’t take itself too seriously.
An entertaining, crazy, passionate, funny, and awesome storyline with great character development. A standalone in a series which brings a recurring great cast of characters. Ryan is a baker and Emily is an artist who tries to resist Ryan at every turn to pursue her lifelong dream of studying art in Paris. They knew each other in high school having had its own story with an ex, but they find themselves fighting their attraction because of their own issues. But a crazy man and his follower are throwing them together, but dont forget granny. A great totallay exchange fast paced quick romance.
