The only thing more shocking than getting sold by my boyfriend? Who he sold me to…JUNE: Over the years with Razo, I’ve learned to keep my mouth shut. Learned not to fight back. Learned that talking only makes it bad…fighting only makes it worse. I shut down my feelings long ago. Because it’s the only way to survive. But then Razo sells me… me…
…to a dangerous biker with zero morals and a sick upbringing. A psycho who makes me feel like I have a flock of ravens inside my stomach. He never hesitates to remind me: I belong to him now.
And he’ll do just about anything to keep me.
Crazy. Psycho. Killer.
MASON: I know I’m crazy. I know I’m scary. And I definitely know I don’t got no business buying some girl off a gang leader I’m supposed to be selling guns to. Fact is, her kind and my kind…we ain’t never supposed to mix.
See, I know all this. But I don’t care.
She belongs to me now. Don’t matter how I got her, only that I’m keepin’ her. And no matter what it takes, I’m going to make her mine in all the ways that count.
Nobody and nothing is going to keep us apart.

I love this author and have read all her books. Many of the characters are friends so they may appear which is nice. The stories are all based on interracial relationships and are fun and sexy. Well written with great character development and dialogue. Definitely, worth the time.
Strong entry to Ms. Taylor’s “50 Loving States” series. Readers first met Mason in Dixon’s story, “His Forbidden Wife” and his own story did not disappoint.
Mason is rough around the edges and due to his horrific childhood, has several issues related to race and violence. He’s a big guy who can put a hurt on someone but at the same time, he’s loyal to those he loves. June also comes from a place of pain, years spent being a punching bag and degraded daily. She’s a quiet soul whose light was snuffed out by a monster.
I really enjoyed the relationship between them. There is instant chemistry between Mason & June but it took time for them to give in to it thanks to circumstance as well as to grow from their initial reservations and confusions toward each other. By the end of the novel, you can see that these two are totally soulmates.
Definitely recommend this story.
This is definitely dark. Some aspects of the story line is not believable (like the part when her ex-boyfriend kidnaps her) but the rest of it is definitely a page turner.
This story addressed so strong topics but did so with lots of taste. The characters were well developed and somewhat relatable at times.
I absolutely loved it.
Mason is the enforcer for a notorious biker gang with extreme alt-right viewpoints. In the middle of a shady deal with the leader of a street gang, everything changes when he sees her. Circumstances find June raising a kid in an abusive relationship. She thought things couldn’t be worse, until her boyfriend sells her on a whim to a dangerous stranger.
The Good:
1. Though it threw me for a loop at first, liked that this book tackled deeper social issues than others I’ve read by her.
2. Also appreciated the heroine being a tattoo artist, very different, and added a cool factor.
3. Mason was very scary in the beginning, and his depiction was realistically unflattering.
4. This could have gone to a very dark place, but happy the writer reined it in a bit.
5. This unlikely couple ended up very believable.
6. The slow burn was an excellent way to meld everything organically.
7. The kid added to the story, and humanized the hero a lot.
8. Black hair realness is strong in this one. In the beginning she wore a weave, and then wore it natural. Though one had to wonder how she got the money to buy hair, when the ex was barely feeding her. I do know abusers will gladly pay for things that visually stimulate them, over taking care of basic needs of their partners, so going with that theory.
The Bad:
1. The epilogue featuring the author is supposed to come off cute, but this reader was too annoyed by the almost-cliffhanger to appreciate it.
2. This works as a standalone read, but some of Mason’s issues obviously happen in another book. I’m still confused about a lot of the things regarding the club. *Luckily they are included as bonus features in my copy of this book.
Final Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this despite the lackluster ending, can’t wait to read more in this series.
