I love all of Lacey Williams books!!! These are ones to reread each year.
Easy to care for Molly and Cord (and the dog), Both were hurting and afraid to trust. I cared about these characters and got caught up in their traumas.
Looking to put the traumas of his past behind him and get back out of Sutter’s Hollow, Cord Coulter is not too pleased by the appearance of Molly English, even less so when he learns that someone put a help wanted poster up on his behalf. But no matter how hostile he is, Molly remains determined and positive, until the traumas of her recent past begin to be revealed.
But despite the threat that has Molly panicking and the past that has left Cord bitter, their presence in each other’s lives are a godsend. This grumpy/sunshine pairing makes for such a sweet romance as they essentially save each other.
A highly enjoyable Contemporary Romance, this is the first in Lacy Williams’ Sutter’s Hollow series of small town, chaste romances.
Wow. This was my first read by Lacy Williams and wow. I loved it! There was some serious tension and trouble with both of the characters and I was certain they wouldn’t be able to find their way out. But they needed each other and love finds a way in the end. Sweet western romance I’d definitely recommend. This story does contain some violence.
His Small-Town Girl is a heart-wrenching story of Cord who was raised by a cruel grandmother. Cord left Sutter’s Hollow when he was eighteen. Now his grandmother has died and left her rundown ranch to him. Cord intends to fix up the ranch, sell it and get out of Sutter’s Hollow as quickly as possible. Surprises including Molly whose truck breaks down on the lane to No Name Ranch keep Cord in town longer than expected. Molly’s father fails her when she needs him most. How long are memories in Sutter’s Hollow? You will enjoy this book by Lacy Williams. I won my copy through a giveaway on Tricia Goyer’s blog. This is my honest opinion.
It put my heart through the wringer, in a good way.
This book is so gorgeously heartfelt. It is like a sad country song with a happy ending, along with some suspense caused by a psycho stalker. Two broken souls find each other and start to heal each other. It was so beautiful with two unforgettable characters. Lacy Williams wrote with such exquisite emotion and realistic details of life on a cattle ranch. This is a sweet romance (just kissing) and a contemporary Western romance with a dash of romantic suspense. I highly recommend this book to any romance to any romance fan who is in the mood for a little sadness along with a beautiful romance.
The characters deeply touched my heart. The hero, Cord, is flawed, but he’s such a good man. He has had a really hard life in his 27 years. Cord meets Molly, 21, who has been fleeing a psycho stalker. The cops in Houston didn’t help her, so she drove into a tiny Texas town trying to find a place to hide. Cord reluctantly lets her stay on the broken-down ranch he just inherited. Molly is dealing with a lot, but she finds joy in the little things and has a resilient spirit. Molly and Cord’s story gave me all of the feels and had such a lovely happy ending. I can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy to get another dose of Lacy Williams’s compelling, heartfelt writing.
An emotional read. I loved how strong her personality was right up to the last few chapters. Then she fell apart. The ending leaves you scratching your head going what just happened.
I was rooting for Molly and Cord. They both had trauma that they was affecting their present and future. I love that this heroine was very useful on the ranch and was not afraid to get her hands dirty. The hero was a wounded man who couldn’t help but take care of people. I love how protective Cord was with Molly. It will be interesting to see the development of the relationship and how the other friendships will be restore in the next book.
I received this book from NetGalley and the opinion expressed are entirely my own.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I read the second book of this series first “Secondhand Cowboy” and fell in love with the characters. I knew I had to go back and read this one. The only negative for me (and it did detract from the story a little but not in a way to reduce a star), was reading about Noah and the accident that caused his blindness.) The cause of the blindness is different in each of these stories. In this story, it was a result of faulty fireworks. In the “Secondhand Cowboy,” it is the result of a loss of control of a pick-up then hitting a tree. I hope the third story doesn’t have a different scenario for the blindness.
Anyway Molly appears at No-Name Ranch. Cord inherited the ranch from his aunt. She is looking for a job. She has a stalker, a broken down truck and no money. Cord needs to fix-up the ranch and sell quickly so he can get back to Houston and get away from the memories of the ranch and Sutton’s Hollow.
This story is an excellent one. The plot is intriguing enough to keep me reading and turning the pages to see what will happen next. It is also written in my favorite dual POV format. This really helps me to connect and understand the characters so much better.
This is a sweet, clean romance with a touch of mystery and intrigue. I highly recommend this story to any one of any age. This book can be read as a stand-alone but I would read the second story “Secondhand Cowboy” as well.
She’s running from a stalker. He wants to escape Sutter’s Hollow and leave his past behind forever. But when fate brings them together, will they be able to deny the attraction they feel for one another?
This was a cute, touching story in a small-town setting. The characters were built well with great depth and backstory. I liked how the mistreatment and neglect of horses is compared to Molly’s trauma. Cord had plenty of layers that Molly had to peel through to find the man beneath. She had plenty of her own walls as well.
I was confused that in the beginning, the story stated that Cal was the one who drove the car that caused the crash and Cord had brought the beer. Later it said it was Cord who crashed the car, and Noah had brought the beer. It’s a bit confusing considering there is another story about Callum. He fled the town as if the accident had been completely his fault, which wouldn’t make sense if he wasn’t the one to blame. Because this was an important turning point in the story, I think it’s important to have these details straightened out.
Despite the inconsistency and confusion, I did enjoy this book. I liked the characters and the slow-burn romance. This was an enjoyable read.
His Small Town Girl by Lacy Williams was a suspenseful and heartwarming read. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more about Callum in the next book in the series!
I just loved Molly. As Cord said, she’s young, but she has an old soul and a huge heart. Even when she was dealing with her own demons, she sought ways to ease Cord’s pain. She is such a treasure! And I thought it was awesome she was a genius at working on cars/trucks/tractors! Total farm girl.
Cord is a bit rough around the edges, but he grows on you with time. How he is always trying to make Molly feel safe, even at his own expense, is a testament to his true heart.
I loved how these two broken and battered people came together and found ways to help each other heal. Both Cord and Molly’s background are mysterious and intriguing. Wanting to know what had happened to them kept me turning pages!
And then the real action started as Mollys past continued to haunt her. You won’t want to put this book down for long!
I loved Cord and Molly’s story, and any fan of contemporary Christian fiction/inspirational fiction/clean romance will enjoy it, too!
I was given a copy of this book by the author with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions are my own.
I had trouble putting this down!
Ms. Williams’ engaging story about two people running from their troubled past captured my attention and my heart from Chapter One.
Cord has returned to his home town to settle the estate of the mean-spirited grandmother who raised him and his brother after their parents were killed in an accident. His grandmother’s rigid no nonsense attitude toward the boys made for a miserable childhood. Cord just wants to get the ranch fixed up enough to sell it and get back to his life in the city.
Enter Molly. She is running from an abusive boyfriend. She offers to help Cord with whatever needs to be done on the ranch. She needs a place where she can feel safe. She is desperate enough that she won’t take no for an answer.
Cord and Molly are two wounded souls who have only been able to depend on themselves. They find it hard to trust anyone. Neither can give up control of any part of their lives to another person. When they trusted someone else in the past, it didn’t end well.
I recommend His Small Town Girl to readers who enjoy a clean small town romance.
I received an ARC from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Wonderful story. Excellent balance of cowboy/girl, drama, suspense and romance! Perfect escape of a story. I honestly couldn’t put it down. Very well written. Excellent start to the series.

Riveting and Heart-melting!
Wow, what an emotional and addictive read! I felt an instant connection to these characters and was immediately invested. My heart was totally in this book. His Small-Town Girl was filled with sigh out loud, heart gripping emotions. I completely fell in love. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
I am anxiously awaiting the next in series!!
Lacy Williams definitely knows how to tell a captivating story. I am COMPLETELY hooked on this author. I want to devour anything she has ever written. This book absolutely consumed me!
Lacy is one of my faves for a sweet romance with a twist of suspense. She is very skilled at drawing you into the character’s feelings. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a story without a villain, and this one is of the worst kind. The story of Cord and Molly is as intense as it is sweet, as each one opens their heart to the other. I couldn’t put it down!
This story was like a breath of fresh air. Cord and Mollie’s story really hit me straight in the heart. The story was like an onion where each layer you got more depth and learned something new about the characters that I was falling in love with. Definitely a must read.
Molly is hiding from a menacing stalker. Cord is hiding from his miserable past. When she applies for a job at his ranch, a job he didn’t advertise, their lives connect and when danger strikes, Cord reverts to his role of always taken care of people. Both characters are damaged, but together they have a chance with the help of people from his past.
I’ve read the author’s short stories, but this is the first novel of hers I’ve read. I was sure there would be a HEA, but I couldn’t help but be worried about their individual struggles to live a normal life. There are two sequels in the series and I look forward to reading them both.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to read, enjoy and review this sweet romantic book.
He had to return to the past he ran away from to settle his abusive grandmother’s estate, she was running from an abusive stalker; could they help each other?
I enjoyed this clean romance and look forward to the next book in the series. I would recommend it.
Once you start this book, you’ll want to read to the end!
Molly is running from someone who was abusive, and when she enters the town of Sutter’s Hollow, she thinks it looks like a safe place. However, when she gets to a rundown ranch, her truck has problems, and can’t be moved. He tries to stop her from staying, but that doesn’t work well. She manages to get an invitation to stay until she can fix her truck. She ends up staying around longer, helping Cord around the ranch. She comes back to the ranch after being in town, alone, and Cord can see that she’s acting afraid. This is a wonderful read, and I highly recommend this book—a first in a series!
