I’ve read several books by Lacy Williams and His Small-Town Girl is a great start to this new series. This book centers around Molly and Cord. Cord returns to the No Name Ranch to get it ready to sell, after the death of his grandmother. Molly arrives hoping for a job and a safe place to stay, while trying to evade a stalker. No spoilers, but if you love small town romances with wonderful characters, you won’t go wrong by grabbing this book. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I’ve already preordered it.
This is the 1st on a new trilogy and Molly and Cord’s story is the perfect beginning. Cord in back in town to sell his grandma’s farm which he inherited, and Molly is on the run from a stalker and wants a job at the farm where she can lay low. Both characters are haunted by past demons, but can they heal each other and move on? This is a beautifully written story which is intriguing and with mystery which all leads to a sweet and engaging read. I cannot wait to read the following 2 novels in this trilogy, and I recommend for all readers.
His Small-Town Girl begins the Sutter’s Hollow series with an emotional romance between two people who are emotionally and physically running from the past yet are finding their future, together, in the most unlikely place.
Cord vowed to never set foot in Sutter’s Hollow once he’d escaped, yet here he is back settling his mean-hearted grandmother’s estate or what’s left of the dilapidated, rundown ranch. The last thing he needed to deal with was a wounded, scared woman almost demanding a job, a refuge, and help to get this ranch back in shape. But maybe meeting Molly will turn out to be the best thing this ranch ever brought him after all.
Molly is on the run from a dangerous past. She’s found the perfect place to hide, pull herself together, and figure out what to do next. She knows Cord doesn’t really want her around but this ranch draws her – not to mention its owner. She might be scared out of her mind, but she’s also stubborn as she sets out to carve a new future with a most unlikely hero.
His Small-Town Girl is the type of story that draws me in immediately. Both Cord and Molly are wounded deep and each needs healing in so many ways. As they work on the ranch and face the danger following Molly they also start to let go of their pasts and begin the journey of falling in love with all the risks involved.
I really don’t want to spoil this story for anyone by giving too many details – but it probably says something when I tell you that the author had gifted me a copy for review and I waited until release day to purchase it before publishing that review post. So, yeah, His Small-Town Girl captured my heart, kept me on the edge of my seat worrying about this couple, and completely enjoying this small-town community. I’d definitely recommend this story and the coming series – if you love a good, strong, clean romance then I don’t think you’ll be one bit disappointed in this start to what looks like a really good, emotional series. I’ve already got the release date for Secondhand Cowboy on my Google calendar so I won’t forget. *shrugs while grinning – life gets hectic so I keep reminders*
I own a Kindle copy of this title (which the author had also gifted before publication for review).
This was such an intriguing small-town romance! Both Molly & Cord have things in their pasts that they’re running from. These two don’t want to trust each other, they just want to get the job done and get on with their lives. I loved watching their relationship turn romantic! It was so sweet!
This was a great start to a new series! I’m definitely looking forward to reading more!!
Molly English has a stalker and needs somewhere to hide. She leaves college in her truck with her guitar and ends up in Sutter’s Hollow. Cord Coulter never planned on returning home, but his grandmother has passed and he needs to settle her estate. The ranch is in disrepair and in debt when Molly shows up looking for work. Cord needs help, but he has no intention of letting Molly stay, until he does. Can he let her stay while he works on the ranch? Molly is attracted to Cord, but can’t allow possible danger to harm him. When things come to a head, will Cord realize that he needs to let Molly in to his life, for her and for him? A sweet western romance with a hint of danger. I really look forward to the next books and characters in this series. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
I won an advanced copy of this book, but I’ve read several books by Lacy Williams now. I love the coming home to a small town troupe so so much, and this little town has its share of interesting characters. When Cord comes back to Sutter’s Hollow to settle his deceased grandmother’s affairs and to sell her ranch (and maybe some of its painful memories), he has no interest in sticking around. Molly, on the run from a stalker, answers a mysterious help wanted ad in town for a ranch hand only to have her truck break down in Cord’s field. Cord realizes that Molly’s ability to fix up his antique tractors to sell may be the answer to his overdue mortgage problems, so he offers her a safe haven in exchange for her help getting the ranch solvent. While Molly is fixing up tractors, she takes a swing at fixing up Cord through the time honored tradition of homemade meals. This was a cute read! Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the childhood friends’ stories turn out!
I won a ecopy of His Small-Town Girl in a Goodreads giveaway. This was my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed reading the book. I found this to be a quick and easy read, two lost souls each running from their past. This book gives you hope to believe that you can rise above things that have happened in your past. I hope if there are more books in this series, we will get to see more of Molly and Cord in future books. I would certainly recommend this sweet HEA to others.
I didn’t want to put this book down!
This is such a heartfelt story. I couldn’t read fast enough to see how their story unfolded. Cord carries the hurt from the past to remind himself he is not a good person. Molly is being terrorized and is afraid of pretty much everything. The characters both came alive to me. Two broken people who end up being attracted to each other. Fighting that attraction became very difficult.
I enjoyed the small town and the history that Cord had there.
What a wonderful book!! It is full of emotions and will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. I can’t say enough about this book without a spoiler slipping out. If you like clean, well written romance with drama and suspense you will love this book. I received an ARC copy from Lacy Williams Books LLC via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own
His Small Town Girl is a story that will steal your heart and imagination as soon as you start reading the first chapter. Sutter’s Hollow and its’ citizens wind their way off the page and pull you right into Cord and Molly’s story. And it is such a sweet love story-a protector who fights love and a nurturer who needs protecting. We all KNOW there’s a battle about to be lost…. 😉 or won! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!!
Missy and Cord are both running. Her to Sutter’s Hollow and him from it. They are both facing pains from their pasts that are affecting how they view the present and future. While their initial meeting was different I loved how their relationship shaped and evolved. This was a book that stirred up many different emotions for me and let me with a smiling. Looking forward to book 2.
I love Lacy William book and this one has to be one of her best! The two main characters are about as down on your luck as two people can be! As they rise from the ashes, you will believe in hope, love and second chances. This book touches me so much, especially with what is happening in the world right now. We NEED a book like this to restore our faith in humanity! Cord had such a difficult childhood and should have been loved and cared for by the one person responsible for that – his grandma – but he wasn’t. So now she’s left him a ranch and so many problems that he doesn’t know half of them! Who does that? Molly is running from people who have betrayed her and I mean terribly betrayed her…people who should have cared for her too. Somehow she ends up on Cord’s ranch and she wont let him turn her away, she’s going to stay and help him fix up this ranch – but there is also an ulterior motive for it, he just doesn’t know it! The two of them are just so broken but oh so right for each other and I loved how the author peeled back the layers of their relationship! The frustrations, the danger, the blossoming romance…so, so good! Already I can’t wait for the next book
