A lost identity. A dangerous mystery. And a deep love that can conquer it all. When a mysterious gentleman arrives on his doorstep, Alexander Moreland is astonished to discover that the stranger is not a gentleman at all, but a beautiful young woman disguised as a man, and in great need of assistance. The woman remembers nothing except her own name, Sabrina, and has only the contents of her … of her pockets as clues to her identity: a handkerchief, a pocket watch, a leather pouch, a torn scrap of paper and a gold ring.
Sabrina is certain that she is on the run from someone, or something–how else to explain the bruises on her face and the pervasive sense of dread she feels? She’s also certain that she trusts Alex to help her, and she can’t deny the sparks that fly between them. As they race through the English countryside, Sabrina and Alex must solve the mystery of Sabrina’s past–before whatever she’s running from catches up to them.

Another fun installment of the “Mad Morelands”. This time Alex twin to Con takes center stage when a woman dressed as a man shows up at his and his brother’s office. She has no memory but only has a few things she found in her pocket. Of course, being a Moreland, Alex takes her home to the rest of the family for help in finding out her identity. A fun story including many of the Morelands and as always, they stand together as a family. An enjoyable read that will pass the time pleasantly. Warning: Contains adult subject matter
This is the first book I have read by Candace Camp and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be reading more in this series. From the very first page of Alex and Sabrina’s story I was hoooked. A young woman disguised as a man shows up on Alex’s dooorstep seeking his help. It isn’t long before he realizes the young man is a woman who know nothing about her past except that she is in danger. Their adventure begins and the story will thoroughly engage you so you will turn page after page to the very end. Fall in love with Alex and Sabrina as they fall in love with each other.@Bhughesrn
Candace Camp is an amazing storyteller! I have just turned the last page and I have this great smile on my face!! This story grabs you and does not let go and flows so smoothly. Suspense, Intrigue and a little of the second sight combine with a mystery and a lot of emotion that has you guessing and believing. You feel you are there with the vivid descriptions of surroundings and the characters that come to life. A beautiful heroine who has lost her memory makes her way to Alex Moreland’s office asking him to find out who she is because she has no clue. Dressed as a man and carrying very few items, the search begins and so does the connection between the two. You cannot help but love Alex and Sabrina (yes they figure out her first name pretty quickly). I had not read the other books in this series but made it through fine. But, I will be reading the first four as soon as possible because the Morelands are a quirky wonderful family and each has a story. This one will go on my to be read again list and if you like historical romances that are fast paced, intelligent with a great storyline, this is the book for you!!
His Sinful Touch is the 5th book in The Mad Moreland series by Candace Camp. I have been a long time fan of Candace’s and I have yet to read one of her books that has disappointed me and His Sinful Touch is no exception. I absolutely loved this book and the storyline is like no other. I highly recommend His Sinful Touch. There is amnesia, disloyalty, kindness, family support, deceit, deception, humor, loyalty, nightmares, twins that can feel when the other is in harms way, insight, mystery and of course love. So travel back in time to London the 1800s and enjoy this mystery with Alex and Sabrina as they try and find out who Sabrina really is and who she is running away from.
This book was very easy for me to get through! I love how it touched the topic of premonitions/gut feelings. It is very rare that I come across a book that I can connect with in that way and to have it described so perfectly! This book had a great story line, I fell in love with Alex and Sabrina and I LOVED the rest of the Moreland family too. Such a well written and fun book!
I love the Morelands! His Sinful Touch is about one of the twins, Alexander Moreland. When a young woman disguised as a man walks into Alex Moreland’s office asking for his help, Alex is intrigued with her. She has suffered a blow to the head and has lost her memory. She is afraid and doesn’t know why or who she’s running from. The only clue is her locket with the name Sabrina on it. The more time Alex spends with Sabrina, the more he falls under her spell. Will Sabrina ever recover her memory? And what about Alex–is he falling in love with Sabrina not knowing if she’s married or not?
I really enjoyed this book and especially all of the happenings at the Moreland estate. The secondary characters are so entertaining. I did love how feelings developed between Alex and Sabrina over a period of time and not at first look. The mystery surrounding Sabrina was well done and kept my interest to the end. Fans of Regency romance will definitely enjoy this one.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Very happy that Alex got his story – can’t wait to see what befalls Con.
It has been a while since I read a Candace Camp book. After reading His Sinful Touch, I wondered why I waited so long. I have several of her offerings in my TBR pile including one of two that precede this book in the Max Moorland series. This book caught my attention right at the beginning of the book and did not let go until the end. Sabrina does not know who she is or why she doesn’t know. She walks into Con’s investigative agency looking for help. There she finds Alex and elicits his assistance. However, Alex feels he already knows het, not who she is, but her very essence. The adventure continues as they search for her identity. Of course, Alex enlists his family in the search. This is a fast paced read I had trouble putting down. I am so very glad there are so many Mad Morelands. That means a lot of tales to read. I received this eBook from NetGalley for an honest review.
We’ve watched the boyish antics of Constantine (Con) and Alexander (Alex) over the first four books of the series – and now, they are all grown up and are getting books of their own. I love that we’ve gotten to see the lively, intelligent, rambunctious, inquisitive, and mischievous boys grow up and that we’ve been a party to their mischief. We’ve seen them with their menagerie of animals – from a parrot to a boa constrictor – and we’ve held our breaths as they’ve been kidnapped. Now, we get to watch them find their HEA’s – and that is an adventure as well! This book gives us Alex’s HEA and the next book, His Wicked Charm, will allow us to see Con’s HEA. Frankly, the first book I read in this series was Con’s, and I was so impressed – loved it so much – that I’ve gone back and read the entire series – in order. I have loved each and every book in the series.
Alex Moreland is now twenty-five years of age. He and his brother Con own a building in London where they each have their offices. Con has a detective agency (it was once his sister Olivia’s) and Alex is an architect. Alex and Con have a strong twin connection – they know what each other is thinking without actually speaking, they can sense when the other is in trouble, etc. Neither has ever had that connection with anyone else. However, Alex is having that anxious, restless feeling that he usually associates with Con having trouble of some sort. Except, he knows it can’t be Con because he was just speaking with Con who is setting out to do an investigation. As he ponders those feelings, while still in Con’s office, the feelings get more intense – so he steps outside the office and sees a man hurrying through the outer door – only – it isn’t a man. It is a woman dressed – very poorly – as a man – and she mistakes him for Con. When he encourages the misconception, she tells him her tale. She has absolutely no idea who she is and remembers nothing about her past. She knows she arrived in London on the train – and the hackney driver suggested Con’s agency as a good one for finding lost things – and she is lost. The only clue she has to herself is a locket with the name Sabrina and a date so she assumes that must be her name and her birthdate. If you’ve read the previous books, you know that the Morelands fall in love – fast, hard and forever – so you won’t be surprised to learn that Alex is already lost – he just doesn’t know it yet.
Sabrina has no idea who she is. She has no idea why she is in London. Does she live there? Nothing seems familiar. Was she meeting someone at the train station? Nobody approached her – but then she was dressed as a man. Why was she dressed that way? She has a knot on her head, bruises on her face, and bruises like fingerprints around her upper arm. How did she get them? She’s very anxious and fearful and is sure that she is running from someone, but she has no idea who it is. When the hackney driver recommends the Moreland Detective Agency to her, she readily asks him to take her there. When she meets the detective, she’s sure she knows him, but when he doesn’t recognize her, she assumes that she is mistaken.
Alex wonders if this isn’t an elaborate hoax designed by Con, but quickly decides that isn’t the case. With no place else to take her, he takes her to his parent’s home. Sabrina doesn’t realize she’s headed to the home of a Duke and once she discovers that, she isn’t inclined to stay there. Alex convinces her to meet his mother – and she quickly sets Sabrina at ease and insists she stay with them.
The investigation begins in earnest and, of course, that proximity draws them closer and closer. Each knows that they cannot act on any attraction because one of the things that was in Sabrina’s possession was a wedding ring. Is she married? Is she running from an abusive husband? Maybe it is just a keepsake from her mother or another beloved relative. Who knows?
Things get tense when the villains appear and try to lay claim to Sabrina, but Alex will protect her no matter what. Seeing them work together and thwart the villains was lovely and seeing Alex learn to use more of his special ‘gift’ was great.
I loved this book and I hope you will as well.
The only question I have about this book is in regard to the title. Why is it called “His Sinful Touch”? Sounds a bit dark for such a cute story :). Anyway, I loved it. It was fun to see Alex and Con as adults, behaving like the sweet, kind gentlemen I always knew they would grow up to be. Ha. They are both still a little mischievous and rough around the edges, but in a great way :). Alex was basically awesome all throughout. Like every other book in this series, I found this one to be very well-written and a page turner. The excerpt at the end was wonderful as well, and I will definitely read Con’s story very soon, too.
The series is being relaunched and, although I read it years ago, I confess that I forgot some details of what happens.
Beginning to say that the Morelands are an atypical family.
They, each in a different way, have gifts. Grandmother Moreland, for example, would hear and speak with ghosts.
It’s something very private that they keep to them.
This gift helps Alex and Con (Alexander and Constantine – twins) have a successful investigative agency, although in recent times, Alex has dedicated more time to his study and work at the Architectural Association. Being the son of a duke, many of his peers think they would be very important if they hire him.
His brother Con was about to make a trip to Cornwall and for some reason, Alex did not want to go. And soon after, he finds out why.
A young man appears in his office looking for help.
But in fact, this boy was a beautiful lady, who could not remember who she was; had some objects in her coat pocket and had marks on her body proving that she was probably running away from someone.
Alex understood that his life was linked to that woman, and from the information – the only one she had – that her name was Sabrina, she and Alex face enemies willing to do anything to destroy her reputation.
Meanwhile, Alex and Sabrina become closer…
Another book with the Moreland clan and their different way of being.
4 stars
This was my first book to read in the Mad Morelands series and I loved it! Looks like I’m going to have to go back and get the rest of them. The good thing was, I didn’t have to have read the previous books to keep up with the story, although each character’s story was briefly mentioned here. I was worried that Sabrina was going to be a minor, weak character after losing her memory, but thankfully that wasn’t the case! I always love a heroine with backbone and spirit! Alex was her perfect foil with his actions and how he treated her. I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series! Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy!
Alex keeps telling you he’s a gentleman, but only acts that way superficially – can’t keep his pants on with an amnesiac, even though he keeps wringing his hands about doing the right thing. Ugh. Then this shy, retiring young miss is anything but the minute she gets amnesia. Then there are the drawn out bedroom scenes – they got boring. I expect better from this author.
