QUEEN FOR A NIGHTWhen Lucio Argento is dumped by Amteep High’s most popular girl, he plots revenge in a way he’s certain will crush her. He convinces Jamie Blair – the target of his ex’s bullying – into doing a makeover that will garner enough votes for her to be Prom Queen. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for Jamie, or to become her willing accomplice in uncovering who is behind the spate of … spate of deaths of animals in their community. When their classmates begin to die in the most horrific ways, Lucio and Jamie discover dark supernatural forces are at work, and unless they can conjure a miracle, everyone will die at Prom.

I’ve been waiting for this book to come out. Just like the first two books in the series, His Scream Queen was a breath of fresh air with unique characters. This book is a combination of She’s All That, Carrie, and any movie that involves summoning a demon (because I couldn’t think of just one movie). Lucio and Jamie were a joy to read about and watch their relationship grow throughout the story. I also appreciated the fact that Ms. Ann doesn’t make the “stupid” kids as typical horror stories do. All her characters, even the minor ones, have common sense and question things going on around them. But, they still must go exploring to find out what is going on lol. Needless to say that the villain of this story, is one you love to hate. Because I don’t want to give away any spoilers I’ll end here. I’m excited for the next book in the series.
Brittney, just one of the faceless middle clas girls, was besties with Jaime until her father became a partner at his law firm and the doors of the country club set were open to her and she left Jaime in her dust, now becoming one of those that picked on Jaime. Lucio, the son of the local chef, had been Brittney’s crush, but she dropped him when his class made it impossible for her to be Prom Queen with him as her King.
Lucio decides he wants revenge and talks Jaime into helping him by setting her up as a rival candidate. Soon, mayhem ensues as Brittney’s rivals begin to drop dead.
This book takes place in the same town as the 2 previous books in this series do. They are all stand alone books and can be read in any order, though they are being published chronologically. This book goes more into magic this time around but follows its own rules. More of the town and its inhabitants are described. This time the protagonists are considered lower class or traitor trash and this aspect of the town is explored a bit more. I do like how quickly the author is able to bring her characters to life with a few well-chosen words and then flesh them out through their actions and interactions with others. A definite must read. Now I’m antsy for the last book in this series. Hopefully, she’ll continue to do other series following another set of tropes that are a bit more modern and this series draws heavily from the 70’s and 80’s.

The supernatural beings In this book were so unexpected to me and i absolutely loved it! This book was such a great and easy read and it has a happy ending for the main characters!
My only negative is that sometimes you can’t really tell whose perspective you are reading from.

I really enjoyed this book. A combination between Carrie and Prom Night. The author has created a town of people where the supernatural is part of the town. In this book it is a demon that is called forth by a teenager. Of course there is death and sacrifices. A wonderful series that keeps you wanting more. My favourite characters are Lucio and Jamie and their friends. Plus it was funny when the friends renamed the revenge plot to Operation Carrie. Cannot wait for the next book in this series.

The author did a great job on this “Supernatural” / Stephen King type story. It had high school cliques, relationships and other teenaged angst. Though this one had a girl who summoned a demon to get her family to a higher social class and in turn to be the most popular girl at school. But also the deadliest. Lucio and Jamie who start out as acquaintances and become so much more, figure it out but can they stop her? This story was tubular. I received a copy from Netgalley and my review is voluntary.
