I’ve been betrayed. A hit gone wrong. I’m hurt and hunted. She helps me out of fear–an innocent snatched up in my bid to escape. I can’t let her live because she’s seen my face. No survivors. No witnesses. That’s a code I live by and one I’ve always upheld. Yet when it comes to my petal, she makes me hesitate.I want to taste her and make her mine in the most primitive way. Ravage her. Devour … Ravage her. Devour her. Allowing my need for her to take hold.
Unsure of who to trust, I feel the enemy closing in. I should set her free, but I can’t. I’ll discover who has a price on my head and I’ll end them, meeting blood with blood, and bullet with bullet.
Would she still want me when she sees me kill? Or will it scare her off for good?

I’m slowly working through Claire Marta’s published works and have been waiting to read this one for a while. Claire Marta certainly knows how to pull a reader into her world and once you’re in? You can’t escape.
His Salvation is so full of twists, it keeps you on your toes right until the very last page. An amazing read and definitely a 5 star read. I haven’t been able to read some of the others in this series as of yet, but I look forward to doing so.
This book is edgy, it’s full of twists, it’s thrilling, it’s dark and fast paced. Absolutely loved it.
I can’t say enough about this amazing series written by a bunch of such talented authors. Every book that I’ve read has been good but, this has been my favorite so far. This book was dark, intense, hot, twists and turns, rollercoaster, page turning, made me stay up all night kind of book. Claire is a new author to me and I can’t wait to read more books by her. If you haven’t started this series yet, it’s a must.
Kay Lockwood was hired to do a mission, and when his mission goes awry, he’s thanking his 6th sense in this field of being an assassin. While trying to escape he ends up kidnapping Eve.
Eve/Evelyn just arrived in Rome, after winning the trip to Rome, and was looking forward to sightseeing. She never expected to be kidnapped, and least of all being attracted to her captor.
Kay has been taught to leave no witnesses, but can not figure out why he is letting Eve live. He’s in over his head with this mission, and can not afford for him to loose concentration.
Love this book full of twists and turns, and I definitely don’t want to give too much away.
I’ve followed Claire for awhile, and love the way her mind works. This is the first book I have read of hers, and really enjoyed it.
Absolutly loved this one!
Amazing twists and turns!
This series promises to be a great one!
Cant wait for the rest!!
OMG! What a freaking fantastic book! I’m completely blown away. It’s got everything…a superbly written dark book with plenty of twists.
This is my first book by Ms Marta and WOW! She has this genre in the bag IMO, completed nailed it!
I absolutely LOVED the characters. Kay is one badass f#*ker as you’d expect when he’s one of the knights in the Cavalieri Della Morte. He’s exciting to read.
This book is truly superb and I cannot wait to read my next by this hugely talented author.
5 whopping BIG FAT STARS !
I’m really enjoying this interconnected series,
it’s so good. Each individual book tells a story
about one of the men in CDM. I was totally not
expecting the twists that happened along the
way in the book, especially towards the end.
I’m looking forward to reading more from
this author in the very near future.
Sooooo dang good!! Another great addition to what is proving to be an amazing series!! There were so many interesting twists and turns that there was never a dull moment. Very fast paced and action packed.
An action-packed story filled with hitmen and heart! A dark romance that was unexpected and fulfilling!
New-author-to-me.
His Salvation is part of a series of interconnected standalones, each book features a killer, assassin for The Cavalieri Della Morte. This is Kay’s story, Book #4. All the books are standalones. Complete standalones.
“A hitman of the highest caliber. A bullet to the head or a new home in a shallow unmarked grave, I never fail when I’m given a task. I’ve lost count of the lives I’ve snuffed out. There are too many to tally.”
Dude, I was not expecting to like this, to be honest. The first part of the book, I’m like, wait, please don’t tell me she’s a weak captive and she magically falls deep in love. LOL. Says the dark romance blogger. It wasn’t like that. The epilogue sealed the deal for me. There’s a certain way you wind me up and this author did it. I guess sometimes I need to remember the gift of destiny. And I did. I loved the fact that everything came together because it was always supposed to. The alignment was on point with my feelings.
“The light to my dark. Day to my night. My salvation to a heart that’s only ever known heartache.”
Would I have loved more backstory, sure. But, I feel like it would’ve taken away from the couple’s interlude. I loved both characters equally. I’m all about a strong woman and I loved Eve. Something about looking death in the face and wanting it to devour me. She held fierce. And seriously, come take me, Kay. You were a pancake when I quit carbs. YUMMY! And the amount of steam was less than, and I absolutely loved and adored it. You don’t get to love me because we had sex, ten times? They didn’t. Thanks to the author for that. It didn’t work like that. It was the feelings, the connection, the awareness, I loved. And the premise is one for the movies, heavy, actionable, and definitely researched. I’m over like, I got yo back, Kay, let’s do this. That the type of feels you get. It’s exhilarating, if you love death and destruction.
I definitely recommend to my dark romance friends, and HIGHLY recommend to the suspense readers. This played out like a double crossed hitman series I been meaning to watch. Bows head.
His Salvation by Claire Marta is the first book I have read by her. This character took awhile to get into. But when it finally did it was amazing I loved it. You ended up having the twists that we all wanted. But of course through it all your rooting for Kay and Evelyn… Lets see where the next one leads us
This was a story of two halves for me, with the second part convincing me much more thoroughly than the first.
Overall I’d rate this 3.5 on Goodreads and 4 on Amazon. It’s a good solid read, with plenty of action, adventure and intrigue all wrapped up in a fast paced and well written plot.
So why the lower rating? I just didn’t connect with Kay in the first half and would have liked more convincing of Eve’s reaction to him. It had the makings of a dark romance but just didn’t quite hit the right note for me. Kay would make her strip, would touch her sexually against her will but we never heard why he was doing it. Was it power? To intimidate? Lust? To prevent escape? It worked in terms of shock and dark factor but it didn’t help me understand Kay as a character. Was he being an a’hole? Was he overcome by lust? What type of man was he? An anti-hero? A sociopath? A bad man trying to do doing good things? A good man doing bad things? Too many questions for me to really sink into the book.
And before you assume I can’t cope with a dark book or an anti-hero please check my profile and my read list. Dark romances are my bread and butter, my go to read, my not-so-secret addiction.
Just around the half-way point we get a sudden one-eighty in the situation between Kay and Eve. It took a bit of squinting to make it look believable but it worked for me. Kay then became a much different man, one who I really liked, one whose actions and deeds were much easier to understand and interpret. He suddenly found his personality. He was a man driven to darkness by his life experiences, but at heart a good man doing bad things for the right reasons.
Eve was a much more defined personality throughout, easy to like and believable, picking her battles wisely and displaying an inner strength throughout the story. She, along with an engaging, fascinating and twisty plot, are what kept me reading this book. Usually an inability to connect to characters will have me abandoning the book as a DNF. The fact that I kept reading this book is testament to the overall quality of writing as well as what was a damn good story.
Claire Marta is a new-to-me author and based on my experience of reading His Salvation I would read more work by her. This is definitely a good addition to the Cavalieri Della Morte series and a dark-themed romantic suspense that is well worth reading.
With each new addition the Cavalieri Della Morte series just keeps getting better and His Salvation was just the right blend of intrigue, romance and action I have come to crave. From the very start Kay had me intrigued and wanting to know more about the elusive and lethal hitman. As I dove further into his story there was so much more to love about him. Evelyn was the polar opposite of Kay and I loved her determination and fierceness and the sparks between her and Kay. I enjoyed the storyline and how the unexpected twists kept me guessing what would unfold next. His Salvation was an addictive, action-packed, suspenseful read that kept me hooked until the end and eager to see what’s next for the Cavalieri Della Morte.
Wait for it
Kay is a bit different than the other men we have met so far in the Cavalieri Della Morte
He is like a void – and not in the way of the assassin- it was like he was just empty – he just lacked. In the first few chapters I really couldn’t connect with him but that changed as the story progressed and Kay finds there is still something worth fighting for
Eve is his polar opposite – She is vibrant and loving and damned determined to escape him. I really enjoyed her tenacity even when she knew her chances were slim and none.
We open with death and destruction (like it would any other way) and it only gets better.
Prepare yourself for one “oh hell no” revelation after another
Lots of twists, betrayal, angst, and forgiveness
I loved this story. After Martyris and how different that book was it was nice to get back into a deep and connected romance. Claire brings two very different characters together and finds a way for them to make a connection.
This story has twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. But what you won’t have to guess on is the chemistry and love between Kay and Evelyn. These two have a great romance that has to be read. I loved this book and enjoyed it, and I can not wait to see where we go next.
I was immersed from the beginning of the book and didn’t want to put it down. It’s a twisty tale, where one never knows who can be trusted. Feeling the need to constantly look over your shoulder
Kay is in Rome waiting for his mark to appear when things go haywire. He is someone else’s mark, with no idea who would put a figure on his head. It could be the Russian or the Italian Mafia, god knows he’s got plenty of enemies. Kay is under attack and needs an escape plan. Finding a car out the front he jumps in and makes the pretty occupant drive. She is a distraction he can do without.
Evelyn wins a much needed holiday to Rome. However she has no idea of the adventure that lay ahead. Most of us have watched Taken, but that’s not going to happen to me. He is dark and dangerous, oh and did I mention gorgeous? I’m scared and not sure that I can trust him.
His Salvation was such an awesome blend of intrigue and romance! Kay is a top-notch assassin, but he’s been betrayed. Eve is goodness and light, and the only one who can help him when no one else can be trusted. But can she handle the ugly truth of who he is? I wanted a little more to Kay the man, but he was, without doubt, a cold persona in the beginning. Until Eve, that is. Once things began to heat up between them, I found myself more invested in these two. This was a thrilling and hot read!
His Salvation is a fast paced, enthrilling read.
This book is full of twists and turns, Kay is my favorite to date.
Can’t wait to read the rest.
This is a standalone in a series of books by various authors about the Cavalieri Della Morte, a group of hired assassins, I have not read any of the other stories in this series.
It was an entertaining and dynamic story, full of action and drama. Kay’s seduction of his captive Eve was swift but there is a complex situation developing in the background. Dark and pacy.
I loved this book!
Kay is a trained assassin. His name instills fear in those who hear his name. He is cool under pressure, and never fails to do his job. Until things go sideways, and the hunter becomes the hunted.
Evelyn was in Rome on holiday after winning a contest. This holiday is the first real chance she has had to step outside the comfort of her life as a veterinarian. What she didn’t expect was to find herself captive and her life in danger.
As these two embark on their journey, secrets are exposed, betrayals felt and revenge served. A wonderfully dark and addictive story!
Claire Marta weaved a tale of suspense that drew me in with its delicious darkness. Every moment intrigued me and had me wanting to know more, to see what boundary would be pushed next and most of all I needed answers.
The character development was skillfully achieved. I could sense the chemistry between the main characters and loved the dynamic. There was no weak willed character in this, the female character was feisty and not willing to give up. It created an addictive quality. The world building was solid. It had a realistic feeling to it.
It’s the storyline that really shined though. Claire Marta should add Queen of Twists to her author title. I never saw it coming. Just when I thought I knew what would happen the author pushed me into an entire different direction. I love a book that can keep me guessing and on the edge of my seat and Claire Marta delivered on that. It’s an emotional ride so be prepared but every moment of it was spectacular.
5 stars for a deliciously twisted and suspenseful read!
Shared world series are always fun. It’s nice to see how a group of authors all handle the exact same world with some overlapping characters. The whole Cavalieri Della Morte group are fascinating, and I’ve enjoyed reading all the stories so far.
I really enjoyed Kay and Evelyn’s story. I think that Kay is a truly human character. He’s flawed, confused, and struggling to figure out what’s going on in his world. There are a lot of changes happening in his life and it can be really hard to digest all those changes.
I mostly like Evelyn, but I think that she’s a little naive sometimes, but that’s probably more about where and how she grew up instead of anything else, maybe. I do like her though, so it all works out.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the series, and to seeing if this story overlaps with the next one.
